23 Best Indian Restaurants near Des Moines

“I first heard about Kanishka's Des Moines location through a friend who saw somebody raving about it in a Seattle foodies group here on FB. My friend and I went to check it out and, well, it's my new favorite restaurant. I've been here 3 times and Door Dashed it once in the past month. The food every time has been absolutely fantastic, and the portion size are quite generous. The appetizers are almost entree-sized; the first time I went there with a friend, we filled up on appetizers and had to get our entrees to go. Dish recommendations: Chicken 65 and Fish Pakoras for appetizers; Mixed Grill, Lamb Vindaloo, and Paneer Korma entrees. Also, listen to your host as it seems like they're always trying out new dishes that haven't made it onto the menu yet.“

“Authentic Indian food! Probably the best I’ve had so far in greater Seattle area.“

“Excellent service, absolutely delicious food, a beautiful sparkling atmosphere and the nicest people ever!! We love this restaurant!“

“Great flavor for the price! We’ve been looking for a good place for dinner for a year now and so far, this has been the highlight.

I personally would have liked more spice, however the flavor was excellent. We will be back.“

“Quick preparation so you can get home and enjoy the heck out of your dish! I order the same thing because if it's not broken and whatnot lol butter chicken, palak paneer and garlic naan. Incredible. Super friendly staff. Always a pleasure! You can eat inside but no restroom and why not just go home and get comfy 😋“

“Delicious, Authentic & Super Clean! Absolutely love Royal Everest Cuisine! The food is 100% authentic Nepalese and Indian — full of flavor, fresh, and served hot. You can tell they really care about hygiene and quality. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Great customer service every time! Highly recommend for anyone craving real, home-style Indian or Nepalese food.“

“The food is absolutely amazing and authentic. My family of 5 devoured everything we ordered and the portion size of the 3 entrees 2 serving of Naan and chicken Biryani was jmore than enough for dinner and leftovers for lunch the next day. Great food and great customer service we will be back .“

“For one reason, the Bombay Seafood Curry. You guys, it was out of this world good. The Samosas were just ok. The gentleman was great, the lady barely acknowledged my presence. That was pretty off putting. But I'll definitely return for this dish. Yum“

“Really good food, basically Indian burritos. Very filling, plenty of veggies and flavor involved. I'm a big guy and 1 is a meal for me.

They ain't playing with the spice levels, tread carefully. Also the lassi is so good. I've had lassi that tastes like Danimals before but theirs is actually tart and well balanced.“

“Very delicious and generous food. The owners are wonderful. Service customs personnel are hospitable. Nice Indian quiet music backgrounds. The view is nice too and plenty of parking. China and silvers are interesting. Chicken Biryani is amazing. Buffet is tasty and rich. Size of the place is comforting. Prices are moderate. Refreshments, special Indian tea and coffee.“

“This place deserves more activity. There is only 1 chef who cooks everything after 9pm. They put care and love into everything cooked.

They also make fresh
Mango Lassi - A mango yogurt smoothie
Rose Milk - A floral Strawberry Like Milkshake
Cashew & Date Milkshake - A protien packed milkshake

My favorites are
Garlic/ Butter Naan
Chicken Tikka Masala
Butter Chicken“

“This is the first time I've ordered food for delivery. I thought I included a tip in my payment but found out when I got to my hotel room the tip didn't show on the reciept! I am SO sorry! The delivery was prompt and the food delicious.“

“Year 2024_ 2025 Curry in a hurry & pizza is the best. I couldn't find a turkey a little before or after Thanksgiving. I couldn't even find chicken. The only thing that was open was this little restaurant. I told the owner what happened and especially made me Indian pizza and chicken. It tastes really good. It made my Thanksgiving. Because of the quality of their food is so good I came back on Christmas Day to buy some more good food from them. I drove all the way from Seattle just to get some food from them. I highly recommend this place especially during holidays when everybody else is closed. Customer service here is great!

Year 2026
They ate the best and make great curry pizza. I drive far to buy their pizza. There is no other pizz place like Curry in A Hurry! The customer Service is Super Excellent!“

“This food is so delicious!! Nice people too!“

“I just decided to stop in here in a whim when I was dropping my dog at the groomer's because I have a surplus of tzatziki at home that I wanted to grab some pita bread to have with. Decided to get an order of hummus and some baklava as well to see if I needed to come back at a later time and try more items....I'm so glad I did because I'm blown away by how good this hummus/pita/baklava is. It's so good that I haven't even pulled the tzatziki out of the fridge to eat with this stuff. And I have way too much tzatziki! And it's GOOD tzatziki too! I just don't need it because that's how great the hummus from Gyro Shawrma is.“

“what really stands out about this place (aside from the delicious food of course) is the fantastic service. whether you’re there for the buffet or ordering off the menu. my glass of water is always full and they are always swinging by the table to make sure all is well. my favorite dish from them is the majestic chicken, perfect mix between sweet and spicy. my family and i go here at least once a month.“

“It was my first time eating at this restaurant and the food was very very delicious. I give a 5 star definitely. I was much satisfied will definitely come back again….“

“Dining at maharaj was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The ambiance beautifully blends modern elegance with traditional Indian charm, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each dish was a masterpiece—rich in flavor, perfectly spiced, and crafted with high-quality ingredients. Standouts included the tender Butter Chicken, aromatic Biryani, and the flaky, buttery Garlic Naan. The service was impeccable, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who enhanced the meal with thoughtful recommendations. Every detail, from the presentation to the balance of flavors, reflected authenticity and culinary expertise. For an unforgettable Indian dining experience, exceeds expectations and truly deserves its five-star rating. Highly recommended!“

“We had food delivered from here. All of the food was delicious. We had three main dishes and sides. 3 stars was as spicy as expected-not too hot, just right. Everything arrived hot. We will definitely be visiting this place to dine in soon.“
