While walking home on a lovely fall afternoon, I stumbled upon a charming little teriyaki place that seemed to scream, “Eat outside while you still can!” Naturally, I obliged.

I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl, and wow! It was like a warm hug from a long-lost friend. The chicken, grilled to perfection, bathed in a sweet-savory sauce, had my taste buds doing the cha-cha. The rice was fluffy, and the veggies were fresh enough to make you think they just jumped off a farmer's market table—if I knew what that looked like, of course.

As I savored my meal, the sun beamed down, and I had to fend off some curious squirrels who clearly believed my bowl was their next treasure. I perfected my “I will not share” face—an impressive masterpiece, if I do say so myself.

“I have eaten here for years and years and years, sure its not the prettiest place in the world but my dad has moved to puyallup and makes me bring him beef teriyaki every time i see him. Never had better teriyaki (and ive gone to many others). Chicken katsu is fantastic as well. I will mourn the day when this place closes/changes owners.“

I purchased all white meat chicken teriyaki and had a special request for the preparation of the chicken for this meal and this is the only place in Monroe that didn't have an issue with cutting up the meat for this dinner item. “I like teriyaki. I don’t have it often, maybe because I am usually so underwhelmed by the places I have it. This night, I found myself hungry, and One Teriyaki was close. Never been there. I prepared to be underwhelmed. At least the place was clean and tidy. To my surprise, my order came out in half the time I expected it. On a large, square, black plate with VERY generous portions of spicy chicken, rice and salad. It is the best teriyaki I have had in quite awhile. What a pleasant surprise. Highly recommended!“

Dining in, they provide free hot barley tea. You can order at the counter or through the online menu.

The nigiri dinner came with good size fish. The rice was a little hard so I didn't eat most of it. Waitress brought extra wasabi and ginger quickly when we ran out.

Decor is basic but comfortable. Plenty of free on street parking.“
