“I have only been here two times as I moved to the area right before the government stole the freedom of Americans to move about freely... that being said, this visit - IN PERSON - was excellent! Matt, the bartender answered several questions and made a couple suggestions. I went with one of them (Carnitas and Scratch Margarita) and was pleasantly impressed with both! The crowd was fun, the staff was doing an excellent job (having been in the industry for 24 years myself) taking care of the business and caring for the clients. Thank you and I WILL be back again!“

“The El Jefe Burger and all of the tacos are great! I am very sad they stopped serving the Braised Duck Taquitos. That was my favorite item on the menu. All of the salsas are fantastic. It is impossible to have a bad time here. Delicious every time I come in. Staff is great. Very helpful and knowledgeable.“

“I first heard about Kanishka's Des Moines location through a friend who saw somebody raving about it in a Seattle foodies group here on FB. My friend and I went to check it out and, well, it's my new favorite restaurant. I've been here 3 times and Door Dashed it once in the past month. The food every time has been absolutely fantastic, and the portion size are quite generous. The appetizers are almost entree-sized; the first time I went there with a friend, we filled up on appetizers and had to get our entrees to go. Dish recommendations: Chicken 65 and Fish Pakoras for appetizers; Mixed Grill, Lamb Vindaloo, and Paneer Korma entrees. Also, listen to your host as it seems like they're always trying out new dishes that haven't made it onto the menu yet.“

“Excellent service from Elizabeth! She was so friendly and attentive! I ordered brisket with mac & cheese and potato salad and my friend ordered the bacon & blues burger with a brisket add on and talk about mouth watering! We also ordered the fried pickle jar and highly recommend that appetizer! We saved our leftovers for the next day and it went just as hard! Amazing hospitality from this establishment and the vibe was so country it felt like we were back home in Texas! Don’t skip out on the banana pudding and a big thank you to management and the cooks who help keep the place running smooth!“

“Lunch at Mox Bellevue today—and what a surprise. I wasn’t there to game, just catching up with friends passing through. But the space? Total standout. Art Deco vibes, cozy booths, and a game store that feels more like a boutique hotel lounge. I had the Golden Curry & Tofu—Japanese-style curry over rice with potatoes, carrots, tofu, and pickled vegetables. Warm, flavorful, and exactly what I was in the mood for. My friends ordered the Sausage & Pepper Rotini and left just as happy. The only curveball? No mocktails listed on the menu. When I asked, our server looked a little unsure but offered to make a virgin Momotaro with ginger, peach, mint, lemon, and ginger beer. It was fantastic—definitely worth ordering again. Still, a mocktail section on the menu wouldn’t hurt. After lunch I wandered through the shop and ended up picking out a couple of games for our next game night. Couldn’t resist. All in all, a great lunch, great space, and a solid reminder to check out places that mix things up. Overall fun spot. So happy we found this place. Would happily return.
