“I have only been here two times as I moved to the area right before the government stole the freedom of Americans to move about freely... that being said, this visit - IN PERSON - was excellent! Matt, the bartender answered several questions and made a couple suggestions. I went with one of them (Carnitas and Scratch Margarita) and was pleasantly impressed with both! The crowd was fun, the staff was doing an excellent job (having been in the industry for 24 years myself) taking care of the business and caring for the clients. Thank you and I WILL be back again!“

“Oh man the Udon here is insane. The noodles had the perfect balance of softness and chew, soaking up a broth layered with depth, warmth, and umami. Every ingredient worked so well together, and the flavors came together in a way that was both comforting and refined. Art Deco vibes, cozy booths, and a game store that feels more like a boutique hotel lounge. I had the Golden Curry & Tofu—Japanese-style curry over rice with potatoes, carrots, tofu, and pickled vegetables. Warm, flavorful, and exactly what I was in the mood for. My friends ordered the Sausage & Pepper Rotini and left just as happy. The only curveball? No mocktails listed on the menu. When I asked, our server looked a little unsure but offered to make a virgin Momotaro with ginger, peach, mint, lemon, and ginger beer. It was fantastic—definitely worth ordering again. Still, a mocktail section on the menu wouldn’t hurt. After lunch I wandered through the shop and ended up picking out a couple of games for our next game night. Couldn’t resist. All in all, a great lunch, great space, and a solid reminder to check out places that mix things up. Overall fun spot. So happy we found this place. Would happily return. “I first heard about Kanishka's Des Moines location through a friend who saw somebody raving about it in a Seattle foodies group here on FB. My friend and I went to check it out and, well, it's my new favorite restaurant. I've been here 3 times and Door Dashed it once in the past month. The food every time has been absolutely fantastic, and the portion size are quite generous. The appetizers are almost entree-sized; the first time I went there with a friend, we filled up on appetizers and had to get our entrees to go. Dish recommendations: Chicken 65 and Fish Pakoras for appetizers; Mixed Grill, Lamb Vindaloo, and Paneer Korma entrees. Also, listen to your host as it seems like they're always trying out new dishes that haven't made it onto the menu yet.“

“Found this place on Google and it didn't disappoint! The burgers are very tasty! They do have a kick in the spice department, but that's what makes them good! The fries have the just right spices as well, didn't need any sauce!

Atmosphere was pleasant, very friendly folks and the place was very clean. Will definitely try and visit again when in town! Thank you!“
