“Stopped by Black Rock Coffee Bar (76th & 500 location) to get some work done on my laptop, and it ended up being a great spot to hang out for a bit.
I ordered through the app and went with two drinks:
Blended Orange Blossom Mocha
Iced Irish Coffee
Plus a blueberry muffin
Both drinks were solid—flavorful and well-made—and the muffin hit the spot, especially after one of the baristas offered to warm it up for me. Small gesture, but definitely appreciated.
The baristas here were quick, kind, and attentive. One of my drinks initially came out without the whipped cream I had ordered, but after a quick mention, they fixed it right away with zero hassle and a great attitude. That kind of easy, friendly service goes a long way.
The space itself was clean, spacious, and perfect for getting work done. Plenty of seating, a relaxed vibe, and free Wi-Fi with no password, which made it super convenient.
Overall, a really solid experience—good coffee, great service, and a comfortable place to post up for a while.

“Wonderful coffee in a peaceful, simple ambiance. They are confident in the boldness of their roasting profiles and geographies, including beans sourced from various parts of Asia. I was treated with warmth and care - this was a very memorable experience and I will absolutely return each time I visit Portland.“
“Excellent coffee, one of the best i’ve had in Portland which sets a pretty high bar.“

“Sterling coffee roasters is the quintessential Portland coffee experience. They've been around for years and yet it always seems like there's something new and fresh happening. The baristas are always on point. The coffee is always first rate whether it's an espresso drink or their drip coffee (free refill!). Grab a bag of beans to go; they're always perfectly roasted.“
“LOVE the staff and great drinks!“

“So excited to get in the mail today some of the best beans I've had in a long time! The flavors are on point, and the crema is amazing. Fantastic! I know where I'll be ordering my beans from now on. From Portland, OR to National Harbor, MD – truly exceptional quality! look at the smile that my cup created! I knew my first sip would be awesome!!“

“My GOSHHH!!! So good!
I had an egg dish with injera for brunch and it was perfect. Spicy, nicely seasoned made with fresh ingredients. Incredible!
And the avocado smoothie was really good with all natural ingredients. No ice, no powder. Just avocados and a really nice red syrup that’s not too sweet. FYI, it’s not a normal American smoothie. It’s not cold with lots of ice.“

“I was looking for a new coffee from a local place and I stumbled upon thortons. Great little place with a walk up window. I purchased a couple bags of beans and took home to try. This is one of the most amazing roasts I've tried. it's definitely in my rotation now.“

“Randomly found this place and decided to stop in. They have recently moved and while looking confused was redirected to their new location less than a block down the road. What makes this place unique is that they have beer and wine available for sale too. There is also an outdoor patio and it looks like they may have music in the evenings. The barista was super friendly and while enjoying my horchata hot brew noticed numerous regulars and such a friendly vibe by all employees. Honestly the friendly and sincere service really makes this coffee shop stand out. Wouldn’t hesitate to stop in again soon.“

“My partner and I got the House Special and Spicy Beef Bánh Mì, which were delicious! I had the Pandan Coconut Latte and my partner had a sip of it. We loved the taste, but we're fairly sure the Pandan had a laxative effect for us. So just review some of their specialty ingredients before you order.“

“Unique experience to have the Vietnamese iced coffee and a onion tofu bhan mi for breakfast. It was my first time having this beverage so I can only say it was refreshing, bold and sweet in a good way. The Bhan Mi was a very generous size, the tofu had alot of flavor and the baguette was a star.“

“Stumbled across Stumptown while walking downtown. Saw it was a safe spot for me and had to dive in. So glad I did! Ordered a matcha latte having no idea what it was. A shame it’s the middle of summer, that would have been a wholesome sip for a cold-snap. In any case, super tasty drink. Also has friendly staff, and is a good spot to relax.“

“i'm scared to recommend this place because it's my favorite coffee shop in portland, and i don't want it to be packed when i come in 😭 espresso drinks are perfect—the milk is foamed perfectly, the espresso's coffee taste is strong but not bitter or overbearing, and the syrup options are varied and flavor the drinks without making them too sweet. the breakfast foods are exactly what i want in a cafe and nothing more, and for a really reasonable price even in 2026. the ideal coffee shop.“

“Needed a coffee break while exploring the Alberta area and ended up here. The coffee was fresh and had a nice rich flavor, and the breakfast sandwich hit the spot. The atmosphere was relaxed and felt like a good neighborhood coffee shop. It got a little busy during my visit, so finding a seat took a minute, but once settled in it was an easy place to spend some time. A solid stop if you're looking for good coffee without a lot of fuss.“

“After buying a few things I needed, I stayed inside MUJI a little longer. Near the in-store embroidery service, right beside the shelves of Japanese cups and plates, I noticed a robot coffee station that immediately made me curious.
After placing my order and making my selections on the touchscreen—adding everything to the digital cart, paying, and then walking over to the counter—I watched the robot begin preparing my drink: a hot cappuccino, $5.25.
I genuinely enjoyed watching the robot create the latte art… honestly, the design looked better than mine (haha).
Once the drink was ready, there was an announcement over the speaker, a light flashed on the counter, and I even received a text message on my phone. That level of detail was surprisingly thoughtful.
Beside the pickup counter, there was a small station with lids, napkins, straws, cream, and sugar for anyone who wanted a little extra sweetness. I, of course, added both sugar and cream.
The coffee here is quite strong. In my opinion, if you’re drinking it hot, the 10 oz is just right—12 oz feels like a bit too much. But it tastes really good.
Next time, I’ll try one of their fruit drinks.
If only I could sit by those large windows, slowly sipping coffee while looking out onto the street… that would be perfect.
After the shopping experience here, I noticed some customers hesitating and walking away—maybe because the space is quite narrow, and standing there to drink can feel a little awkward.
Still, the wooden beams and the warm lighting fit the coffee bar beautifully.
Ah… one small downside: there’s no restroom here.“

“Sitting here currently, enjoying a coconut and Ube iced coffee. It's very good, the shop is quaint. I had a slightly tough time finding it. It's located inside Fork and Spoon. The barista was friendly and let me hang out a bit while killing time between business. I visit Portland frequently for business and generally stay fairly close to this location. I'll likely be back again in the future!“

“Hey Duane, check out Pete's in St Pete. It totally reminds me of stumptown on division in the early 2000s.
It is not the big chain. Just a small local coffee n bagel hole near central ave.
I used to live a few blocks away from stumptown on division when it was the only stumptown.
I was invited to take part in the lazy Susan sippins of beans from small farms in central and south America with Duane.
And I played drums in a band he pressed onto vinyl with his employees playing instruments and singing.
Also went and saw pinback at crystal ballroom with Duane. Two bro's watching one of the best shows of the era. Good times.
Im glad Duane sold Stump T and got his piece of the American pie. Duane was the coolest. I miss having friends like him.
St Pete Fl is a lot like P Town before the socal invasion and the later fall into dizaray.
My favorite year in p town was actually around 2012 or so. Best city in America then. And guys like Duane helped to make it that way.
Thank you, stumptown coffee. You rock.“

“I've been coming here since they opened around February/March of 2025. Quite literally some of the best bagels I've had. They are sourdough bagels, so not as chewy as bagels you might be used to... Especially when toasted (which is their default). I get scrambled egg and sausage on a garlic bagel.
The biscuits they have at this location are phenomenal and I hope they continue to make them. We came in today and there weren't any :(
Most of the staff that started at this location in 2025 are still there. This is something you don't normally see nowadays. When staff sticks around and works together for as long as these folks have, you know they have a great team and it really shows.
I really miss the local art on the walls at this location and hope they can work to bring some of it back.
Thanks for being a great breakfast spot for us for the last year and half!“

“Update: Dirty chai is still amazing. Staff are always kind. The bagels are a tougher and drier than they used to be so I'm dropping it down a star.
Previous review: Great bagels! Love to grab the day old ones for cheap to keep at home instead of buying from the grocery store. Also their house made chai is fantastic! I will get a dirty chai every single time I go here. Clean, plenty of seating, kind staff.“
