“They definitely make a profit but this tradition so I'll spend $40 on bakery every time :D Cashier doesn't do small talk. Just takes money and on to the next person”
“The drive was beautiful. We enjoyed watching local farmers harvest their crops. We stood in line for about 40 min and there is a bathroom. We bought bread for our neighbors and they loved it. The donuts are awesome. We also got a jumbo pretzel and a pie.”
“I occasionally drive through this little town of Montello and I've always noticed this little soup place and wanted to stop. Unfortunately it was never at lunchtime. Well, today I finally made it! I love soup and this place doesn't disappoint. Today they had 5 to choose from. Soup comes in three sizes, cup, bowl and lg bowl (which Hass to be a pale because the bowl is huge!) I got the regular "bowl" and it was huge, definitely a meal in itself. You can also order soup in a bread bowl. As I looked around the room at other people's meals, I found myself wishing I lived near here so I could be a regular! The salads are gigantic, so are the subs. I was really impressed with today's special, it was chicken Alfredo in a bread bowl. Looked spectacular... might have to find my way back to try that one. As for me, I ordered a bowl of cheeseburger soup and a Reuben. Couldn't finish it all. They have a table with a bunch of different flavors of oyster crackers. Help yourself dispensers, all included with your soup. I'm sure if you're a local you know about this place. But if you're driving through or here vacationing, you need to give this down-home soup and sandwich business a try. People who work there are really friendly, and I was impressed that all three of them made it to my table during my meal to ask me how things were going. They all seemed really appreciative for everybody's business. Occasionally drive through this little town of Montello”
“So many selections of ice cream and friendly staff! They also have a few food choices as well! Several places to sit inside or outside and a good amount of parking in the lot as well as some street parking as well. I've seen it extremely busy with lines out the door, but it goes pretty fast as they always have multiple staff scooping. Very nice and clean! I highly recommend going to try it!”
“Really good food. The cook was exceptional, filling many orders on Saturday. One wait person was to keep the room filled with drinks. We will definitely be back!”
“Took my son for lunch on a Sunday and the crowd was just right to let him be himself & stretch his legs after a little car ride!We both loved the atmosphere & food. We will definitely be making this a place we visit regularly ?”
“More of a 4.5 than a 4.Great Friday night fish fry (cod, walleye, perch) with generous portions. FYI, the burgers do not come with lettuce, tomato, etc. so be sure to check with your server.Local beers on tap: Spotted Cow & Knuth Blue-Eyed BlondeThe photos of the menus on here are relatively accurate. High chairs and booster seats available.”
“Had dinner there recently. The staff was great. I complimented the owner on his bar selection. I mentioned how some of it was not visible behind the other bottles. He stated that he was working on a solution to this. Impressive top tier Bourbon selection.”
“Best pizza in town...hands down. Best food in town as well. Sad part is they are not open year round but makes you appreciate when they are. In Montello they are the place!”
“The cutest little coffee shop around! They serve one of the best chai lattes I have ever had, and the baked goods are delicious. The atmosphere is very cozy. 10/10 would ”
“Probably my favorite pizza in the state. High quality ingredients. Very good pan and deep dish crust. Decor is fun. Smaller seating area. Definitely recommend trying it out.”

“Great 'townie' bar! Nice looking inside and a great deck out back (small but nice). Drink prices are a little high but you get a good pour. Definitely my favorite hangout when I'm in town.”
“Went down for the fish. We had shrimp and cod. It was very good. You can order just the fish or shrimp or you can get a basket with fries or onion rings. Prices are decent. Great friendly service. Definitely would go back!!”
“Friendly small town pub. Great Loaded Bloody Mary's on Sunday! Friendly service cold beer, specialty alcohol for unique drinks made to order. Live music on occasions as well.”
“This is one great restaurant. Very clean and people are happy. Waitress was great .. happy smiles.. food was extraordinary.. so many kinds of burgers.. but good... Will go back..”
“Went here for breakfast the other weekend, was not disappointed. Had my favorite breakfast, biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. Bacon was perfectly cooked and I should have ordered bigger than the small biscuits and gravy. Will eat there again. Fairly new to the town and slowly trying nearby ”
“My Wife and I stopped by on a Sunday for some BBQ. A new guy was learning the ropes and was a great waiter and kitchen man. The owner was making great Old Fashioneds, and she talked me into the French Onion soup. The soup was thick and full of onions and seasoning. It was the best ever! My wife had the smoked prime rib sliders. Again, the best we've ever had. I had a great rack of ribs and great conversion with the owners and the other customers. We've been there a few times and it's always wonderful. Go there soon!”
“This place offers very good food at a reasonable price. The two men who made my sub were very friendly and this place was clean and inviting. I enjoyed my tuna sub here, and hope it continues to prosper.”
“Very low key bar. All the bartenders I've had the pleasure of them pouring my beer are very nice. Beer prices are probably the best in Montello. They have a couple of really fun bar games. Pool table is only 50 cents. I always come here when I'm in the area.”
“Picture it, you stop in, see some friends, get some great food, and get served quickly. Now picture that, with a low price tag, and beautiful decor, you've got a Lucky Ace's Sandwich!”
“Was there for an Honor Guard memorial service. We didn't use the facility inside, but there was a nice meeting room area and a small bar area. Food would need to be catered in.”
“Love this place. Kathleen's passion and hard work is contagious. What she has built during the pandemic is nothing short of remarkable. Can't wait to attend her tastings with wine pairings the last Saturday of the month - starting soon. Montello USA is happening and my wife Lisa and I are happy to be a part of it!”
“Breakfast was awesome. I had the country fried steak, not only a very generous portion, but also delicious! Also tried the homemade potato salad, hands down the best potato salad I’ve ever had! Will definitely be back!”
“The food was pretty good nothing to complain about at all. As for the atmosphere it's your old home town backwoods southern feel for sure; in my mind it's awesome. Service was by far superb. Get samples of their jams to try (highly suggest the pumpkin) on your toast yummy. Everyone was so nice and talkative. Thank you for a great experience.”
“Stopped in for lunch. My BLT was full of bacon, my wife's steak sandwich was delicious and perfectly cooked and my daughter's burger was delicious. The service was attentive. Each time we've visited, we had delicious food.”
“Stopped by on a Sunday morning for some BBQ but they weren't serving that instead they were serving breakfast and let me just say the omelette and potatoes were delicious. Can't wait to get back and try some ”
“Absolutely Amazing Food! I visit Montello occasionally and noticed this new restaurant just off Hwy 23 and thought I would give it a try. I was immediately greated and seated at the bar as I requested but they had several tables in the dining room. The smells of the food were to die for. I knew I wanted to try the smoked ribs for sure and compare it to my other places as well as the brisket. I ordered my dinner and a drink and the waitress walked me through the 4 homemade BBQ sauces. The food came out fast, hot and delicious. The Hickory Smoked Brisket was so moist and flavorfull and had great texture. The ribs were cooked to perfection, to the point they peel off the bones very easily when taking a bite on each rib. The seasoning on the ribs was delicious and no need to add sauces, but I tried them all and even mixed a few as suggested by the waitress. I was so pleased and satisfied with my meal I thought I struck gold in this quaint town. Before writing this review, however, I thought I may have just gotten lucky with the food, so what did I do of course, went back the next day. Saturday was Smoked Prime Rib night so I thought I would give that a try. I love prime rib but usually find that most places don't cook it slow enough to get the fat to melt and to be able to cut it with a butter knife. Ok, I guess I have very high standards on my meat. I just like it very tender and not steak like after typically paying more for Prime. When the Prime Rib came out it was what I envisioned and smelled so good. The slight smoked and seasoned flavor and tenderness was exactly how it should be done. It had extra dripings on the platter to keep it super juicy. I also got a side of BBQ Shrimp to try and glad I did, so yummy and descent size. The sauce they were in was also great! The homemade sides that came with my meal were just as good as the main course. You can tell they make every dish by hand and add something to it to make it extra secial. The homade Mac N Cheese had crispy baked sprinkles and the potatoes had chives. This place is a must if your within an hours drive. The owner is super nice and knows how to make great food in the huge smoker she has out back. I give Smokin Oak a 10 out of 10. I can't wait to head back to Montello and try what else they have. Hope you enjoy!”
“Our family loves the fish and chicken on Fridays. You can also get baked cod if you are gluten free. Comes with baked beans, Cole slaw, German potato salad, and or broasted potatoes. Delish!”
“Great place for a very good Friday FishFry, we had 2 plates of the Cod and 1 of the BlueGill, we all were very happy with the service and quality of the food and drinks.”
