“Sandy Hook Taverns is always a good time! At the Hook you will find a friendly atmosphere, well made drinks and great food sold by AJ's Meat Shack. The Hook is also very supportive of local musicians and books local entertainment often. Halloween at the Hook is my personal favorite.”

“Great food, great service and spotted cow! Wanted a place to get spotted cow before hitting the airport to Dubuque. Small place with Mom in the kitchen and son working the front of the house or his wife when he is not working. Walked in and the bartender/owner/waiter said "we can make room" as we were walking out. He set up a table and made us feel right at home. There were four of us and we all got burgers and I had a couple of spots. It may be our new go to as we go to the airport.”

“The raspberry danish/croissant was superb. No wrong choices here, everything looks and tastes great. Also got some cookies, empanadas(not pictured but inhaled), and a scone. Everything was well priced. Definitely a worth a stop and look forward to returning when in Galena.”

“Had a wonderful breakfast here! We stopped in after renting an airbnb upstairs. We ordered the spinach and feta cheese croissant, hashbrowns, and eggs, chicken fried steak and biscuit with gravy. We were very pleased with our generous plates and tasty meals! We were allowed to sit wherever we wanted. Our waitress Kai was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and we would definitely come back. We also ate at Otto's while in town and Charlie's Place definitely pleased us more! “I gave 4 stars to food, as my walleye dish tasted "fishy" like the fish sat too long before cooking. However, everything else was excellent! My husband's meal was delicious. He ordered a more traditional Italian dish. The bread and appetizers were perfect. The tiramisu was wonderful and enough to share. The wine list was good too!”

“We visit Galena frequently, and always plan a lunch at Embe. My husband and I share two of their fabulous cream soups (mushroom, seafood, bleu cheese) and a bread pudding. It's always a home run!”

“What a fantastic coffee spot. My mom has been wanting to go to Galena forever and we are hardcore coffee lovers, so this was on our coffee bucket list for today. I have now had one of the best macchiatos I’ve ever had in my whole entire life: a s’mores macchiato. Shout out to the barista who recommended I get it iced because it was absolutely beautiful. If you’re visiting Galena, make sure you pop in here for a coffee for sure!”

“Yum! The fresh apple pop tarts were an afterthought but will be forever remembered as the standard from which all other pop tarts will now be compared. 4 for brunch and all happy. Good bloody Mary's made with a house made mix. Good hot biscuits and light creamy gravy, perfect potatoes. This is a relatively small venue and quite popular. There's a nice park close by to wait for a table. No food service at the bar.”

“Started our dinner with Temura soft shell crab n(no picture). It was okay. Then my husband’s Godzilla roll and my Taki Udon with chicken arrived. Fantastic! He wasn’t that hungry and devoured each piece lol Mine was delicious! Garlicky goodness. I wish I could have eaten it all. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.Parking: Very popular destination and hard to find parking throughout Main St area.”

“Where to start.... We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our server,Joy, was amazing. Didn't rush us to order, kept our drinks replenished as requested and was did not rush us to pay and leave when done eating. The food was amazing- not quite as good as a pub in Doolin but still wonderful. Music was just starting as we finished eating so we had another drink and listened for a bit. The decor was wonderful and we are so glad we picked this restaurant.”

“This place was amazing! I love how my whole family can choose something that they want and it didn't break the bank. The place is very bright and inviting. That being said, who cares if the food is not good. That was not the case here. I had the French hot dog... Dang it was good. My children had the croque monsieur and the lobster bisque.... Absolutely delicious. My husband had the tacos and loved them. The shell was made out of rice and was so soft but held together. Then came the desserts... Fantastic creme brulee and tiramisu. I wish we had found this place sooner so we could go back before we leave... Always next time I guess.”

“Great spot. The best food we had in Galena. Great cocktails too. We had the croque monsier and it was really done. The specials looked great. Its a small place so you can see all the food. We tried 4-5 restaurants in Galena, including several that were top rated and were very disappointed. This was the only place that did not disappoint.”

“The food and staff are outstanding. The hostess and our waitress were extremely pleasant and helpful. I had the Italian beef and my wife had the Sloppy Joe. Mine was very good. Hers was epic. Also highly recommend the boozy shakes. This place is a must-eat-here.”

“A cozy and comfortable place on the main drag through town. They have a nice menu selection, and we had a variety of breakfasts in our group. I felt the ham on the Eggs Benedict was a little chewy and rubbery, but their sausage gravy had a nice, peppery flavor. Overall it's a breakfast you can get about anywhere, but it was a nice break away from the crowds in Galena.”

“We had an excellent dinner on Friday. Everything was amazing. Our kids (all 5, under 8 y/o) especially loved the the Chicken Schnitzel . Service was impeccable. We might have to plan a trip to Galena in near future so we can dine here again.”

“While my wife & I were shopping in Downtown Galena we decided to take a little break. Instead of coffee our normal break confection we decided to try Champagne on Main, (our 1st visit). Well it won't be our last. It was a Saturday early afternoon and we were warmly greeted by Laura the owner. She gave us a great table up front by the Bar & Sunny Front Window. The day was cold 32 degrees outside but inside Champagne on Main it was delightful. Laura was so excited about her place and gave us a bit of history on her old building. Drinks were perfect & prices not bad. We relaxed, (chilled) there for about an hour...then off for more shopping. Thank - You Galena for the great day.....and you to Laura!PS - Laura showed us her new El Fresco outside seating area out the back door...nice quiet garden like spot with a tall wood fence that seats about 30 people. Going back for sure this upcoming Summer. Well Done Laura & staff!”

“These folks are serious about their coffee and customer service.I had been trying to order online for over a year, but every time I uploaded a picture for my label it rejected. Being of a lazy inclination, I never said anything about it. I got so desperate for my favorite Whiskey-Vanilla coffee I places an order online without a label. Google added my birth year to an address line and I got a call from the owner, PERSONALLY, to ask about the weird address. We corrected that and I mentioned my issue with the label. He had created a label with with a shot of whiskey and a vanilla bean with flower. He let me know he was sending me an email so when I ordered again, I could send him the picture for the label and he would make sure it was on my coffee.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”

“Omg the best little find just across the border! There a this old bar that is actually one of Wisconsin’s oldest bars full of history and amazing bbq! Cold drinks but no hard liquor. This bar is part of the Cheese Head trail for ATV/UTV. When we stopped it was full of motorcycles too. Staff is so friendly and is willing to share their experiences with others.Parking: Sooo many options for any type of vehicles”

“Go here!!! Just go! The reviews saying food is great and huge portions is ? correct. We got biscuits and gravy, omelets and eggs and bacon and Wow!! The ? was huge thick slices cooked perfectly and we all got hash browns smothered and covered with cheese and onions and they were phenomenal. We will probably come eat here every morning while we are in town. Also get the SIDE MEAT!!! Its sooooooo good … also for the negative reviews saying food took too long.. this is not a McDonald’s .. there is one bartender and one chef and they work together to get meals out hot and fresh. Its a small pub with 4 tables and a bar you can also sit at and eat… it is well worth the wait… it’s like getting a home cooked meal prepared with love ❤️”

“I use a rating system of 1-5 for restaurants (took a trip to Galena for the week in early February): 1) Price [1=expensive, 5=inexpensive] = 4 (inexpensive, relatively speaking) 2) Ambiance [1=none, 5=beautiful] = 2 (weird lighting - had been here a long time ago and the place has changed a lot, and not for the better) 3) Service [1=horrible, 5=perfect]: 5 (waitress was attentive and food and drinks were served in a reasonable timeframe) 4) Food/Drinks [1=awful, 5=fantastic]: 5 (had fettucine alfredo) OVERALL [Average of above 4 ratings] = 4.00 (4 stars)”

“One of my favorite places to get wings in the area. Other food I've tried is great as well. Staff is always friendly, and occasionally you might catch live music. Great place for food, drinks and possibly some entertainment.”
