Hạ Long Bay Reviews
The acoustics in the restaurant are a nightmare! I couldn’t hear my dinner companion. I couldn’t hear the waiter. The waiter couldn’t hear me and neither could the hostess. I requested the spice level extra hot, it was served mild. I asked the hostess how much longer the wait time was, she looked at her watch and told me what time it was. There’s no possible way to enjoy a conversation with your dinner companion here. The only person that smiled was the bartender. The...read full review

Hạ Long Bay is a highly recommended restaurant known for its delicious Southeast Asian cuisine and welcoming atmosphere. Despite being a smaller space that can get busy and loud, especially on weekends, the restaurant offers a cozy and inviting environment. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, particularly about vegan options, with the menu clearly marking vegan modifications.
Guests frequently praise the flavorful and comforting dishes that remind them of home-cooked Southeast Asian meals. Popular choices include the fried rice, grilled pork, and the Bun cha gio, which features Vietnamese rice vermicelli salad. The grilled pork is juicy with a nice char, and the nước mắm is light, savory, and well balanced. The bun is flavorful, and the herbs, pickled veggies, and peanuts add great texture. For those trying Vietnamese dishes, the restaurant’s authentic taste and thoughtful preparation stand out.
Appetizers like crab rangoons and the Vietnamese iced coffee with jelly boba are also favorites, along with the sesame chicken, orange chicken, and the impossible pork dumplings. The blueberry rangoon for dessert is a standout, with a warm, sweet filling inside a crispy shell. The drinks, including gin cucumber drinks and mango sticky rice drinks, are highly praised, and the tea is considered unbelievably good.
While the interior lighting may be a bit bright for dinner, the overall experience — food, service, and atmosphere — makes Hạ Long Bay a place worth visiting repeatedly. Visitors often leave satisfied and eager to return.
