“China Gourmet is a hidden gem. The food is always good and the owner and staff are friendly. Our favorites are the beef with pea pods and garlic chicken. But everything we have had is good. They take pride in their food. The decor is not fancy but don’t let that fool you. One of the best places for Chinese food in Milwaukee. Convenient to the Pabst Theater, the Rep and The Safe House.“

“I adore this restaurant and the people who run and operate this little gem. I can't speak to much of the Chinese food, that's not why I go there. I go there because I'm half Korean and I want KOREAN FOOD. And they make some of the best.
The jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce) is the best I've ever had. Ever. It's thick, not runny and has all kinds of the right veg.
I love ojingeo bokkeum (squid stir fry) and this is my favorite take on it anywhere. I'm not even sure what they do, but it's fantastic.
The jjampong (seafood soup) is flavor and seafood-packed.
Really, all the Korean dishes are delicious.

This place is owned by an older Korean couple and I think their staff is mostly Hispanic. For those that think the staff is rude... those guys prep, cook, order, serve and clean. And English is none of their first languages. Yet, they deal with crappy customer attitudes too, and I've never seen them return it. I've gotten there shortly before close, when they are cleaning up, they do not hesitate to make your order. I've had miscommunication over the phone about an order, so instead I went in and ordered in person. It took 15 min for 4 entrees. That's it. So maybe they aren't being rude, maybe they didn't understand you or vice versa. As for tasteless, like I said, we don't order the Chinese food normally. But I can tell you their fried rice is KOREAN, not Chinese, therefore different and definitely not the same flavor. Or order the forbidden rice and freak out over the purple color!
If you had a bad experience, please, stay away. Let the rest of us enjoy the hard-working, lovely people that turn out some of the best Korean food in the city.

“Some of the best Chinese food we have found in Milwaukee!“

“We recently stayed in an Airbnb very near China East. After touring for the day, it was easy to come back to the house and order. Pickup was 5-10 minutes, and food was ready and hot. We especially liked their sweet and sour soup. I ordered chicken with broccoli one night and shrimp with broccoli another night, garlic sauce on the side. Portions were large and lasted for more than one meal. Reasonable prices.“

“Panda Hutnhas been my favorite Chinese spot since the early 2000's. They have the best wings i have evere had. Their portions are huge and the prices are reasonable. Everything i have ever ordered is ridiculously tasty. Plus, the family that runs it are incredibly hospitable, always friendly and welcoming. Yummmmmmmm“

“Quick, delicious, plentiful Chinese food. You get two entrees and a rice or noodle side for $8.95. The styrofoam container is packed! I usually make two meals out of one order. Currently there is only take out. We’ve gone early, mid day and in the evening. It’s always hot and tasty. Not dried out. It’s become our favorite place for reliable Chinese takeout.“

“Wonton soup and egg rolls. Broth was good, had the hot chili already added so I didn't get to taste it without. Wontons were good too, 10 for a large order. The eggrolls were great. Big pieces of cabbage, great crunch. Tasted fresh, possibly house made. Would come here again.👌“

“Excellent service, super friendly staff. It was nice to see actual family members working together and it looks like the father was cooking which is a pleasant vibe. Fast but fresh! The white rice is sticky A+ for sticky rice! The egg foo young was made fresh and quite honestly the best I've ever had! The gravy is so delicious. The fried rice is great and ours had a good amount of broccoli and other veggies in it. The vegetable egg rolls are crispy and made with wonton. Everything about this food is super good! I am so happy to have found this place. I will be there on a weekly basis. I don't even mind that they dont have online ordering because the service inside is so nice. The restaurant looks and smells very clean, in fact, the owner was mopping when we came in, I highly recommend this restaurant 👌“
