The menu has a wide variety of options and really shows how versatile and satisfying plant-based food can be, not just a couple of afterthought vegan items. Everything we ordered was full of flavor and clearly made with care and intention. The atmosphere was welcoming, the service was excellent, and as someone who rarely eats out anymore, this is one of the few places I would happily return to.“

“Overall experience was great. Started off with the fried calamari as an appetizer which was to die for and good portion. I had the filet mignon and my husband had the ribeye. Both steaks were cooked perfectly and tasted juicy and tender. We shared the asparagus and crab Mac and cheese for our sides. (Sides are portioned to be shareable). The sides were great as well. My only suggestion is providing clean plates for your sides since they are shareable. The steak comes on a plate covered in au jus which is delicious, but I didn't want to plate my mac n cheese on that plate and the bread plates were a little small. Not a big deal though! Service was great, ambiance was cozy. Highly recommend!“

The queso was flavorful, melty, and delicious paired with the lovely bread, and assortment of fruits. The empanadas were the obvious stars of the show - soft billowy outer shells that had a nice bite, filled with delicious stuffings. Dessert was great as well, opting for that sinful cookie bar with ice cream.“

“Leon's has been on South 27th Street since 1942 and they remodeled in the early 1950s into the neon-lit, walk-up drive-in format that still exists today, meaning the building you're standing in front of has looked more or less like this since before most of your relatives were born. There's no dining room. You walk up to the window, you order, you eat in the parking lot or on the hood of your car, and on a warm Milwaukee evening you are surrounded by a full cross-section of the city doing the exact same thing. It's one of those places that functions as a kind of social institution without anyone having to try.
The custard is made fresh daily with cream and eggs and it shows. The texture is dense and silky in a way that regular ice cream cannot match, which is something food writers have been saying about Leon's for decades and which is still true when you actually eat it. We had the Butter Pecan, which is one of three flavors always on rotation alongside vanilla and chocolate, and it has this nutty sweetness that holds up all the way to the bottom of the cone. The Super Sundae Special is the move if you're not sure what to order: vanilla custard, hot fudge, pecans, and a genuinely generous pile of cherries that they do not scrimp on.
The Hot Fudge Sundae is a separate thing from the Special and equally good, with a fudge that runs thick and warm and doesn't slide off into the cup immediately. We also had a chocolate shake just to see, and it was the kind of chocolate shake that makes you realize you've been settling for lesser versions of the thing for most of your life.“

Together they satisfy all my sweet salty and savory cravings with a comforting hot beverage. It’s always civilized in there, everyone keeping their voices to a mellow decibel and the greenery all over in the living walls is over the top beautiful. In the summertime it’s gorgeous outside. Michael and his staff are always hospitable and polite and you feel like they’re family taking care of you. It’s a terrific little gem tucked away in a sweet spot. Go there for healthy ish eats but mostly go because it feeds your soul.“

“Forgive me, I was expecting a more casual dining experience. This is a nice place to go. We were kind of looking for pizza and sports.
The pizzas were good but a little bit light for the price.
The server did suggest a nice beer to go with my pizza.
The service was very friendly.

They were delicious even later into the evening, the tasting was amazing, communication was great, and they were very transparent about pricing which seems to be difficult to find in the wedding industry. This is the go-to place if you want donuts for your Milwaukee area wedding!!“

“Went for the first time today for a doggo lunch date with muh fur baby. Wonderful staff and quick service. I noticed negative reviews complaining there was dogs, well no crap it’s the business model and there’s an actual picture of a dog on the door and logo. ANYWAYS price is a little steep but when I got my food holy cow it was delicious. And I love that they have dog friendly menu items available as well. The place is super clean for the amount of guests and animals that come through. Loved that the food pickup and service area is separate from dining. The only downfall was I did pay for pickles and there wasn’t any but I didn’t even notice it until I devoured the first half of my food. No big deal. I ordered the steak sandwich and strawberry limeade which I also love is made by hand with fresh fruit. My dog is now sleeping in a food coma as am I.“
