“Greeted with a genuine smile and gifted with the best Bagels in Anchorage. Each one lovingly hand made and PERFECT in texture and taste. Focaccia laden with Caramelized Onions made the real way. Balanced between tender, chewy inside and crisp outside, with a STELLAR Sunnyside up egg garnished with fresh chopped Parsley. All execution from Banana Bread to Bagel Experience, ( everything bagel with soft whipped cream cheese, Salmon Lachs, sprouts, paper thin purple onions and capers) are the FINEST Anchorage has to offer. The HIGHEST compliment I give...I COULD NOT HAVE DONE BETTER.“
“What a great place, super cute and the people who work there are so genuine, friendly, easy to talk to. That reindeer sausage was tasty, and looking forward to trying their chicken fried steak and gravy next time. A classic greasy spoon with a comfortable, adorable, classic interior.“
“The atmosphere is a little chaotic for me. But I always love a place where I can grab a coffee and read a book. The people that work there are super nice and the food is tasty.Parking: Definitely a small parking lot. And there was only one space when I got there.“
“All the staff were very sweet and kind to my grandchildren and I!!! We had a sandwich and cocoa and candies! Glass Christmas ornaments…we bought a clamshell w pearls in it for early Christmas surprise for mom and dad! Of course Samovar Tea…a one of a kind to take home!!! A lovely “first” for the twins!!! “A Hidden Gem with 80's CharmI recently stumbled upon Cafe 817 in Downtown Anchorage, and despite living here for 26 years, I had never experienced this delightful gem before. Seeking a spot to kill time before an interview, my craving for coffee and a snack led me to this uniquely charming café.As soon as I stepped in, I was transported back to the Anchorage of the 80s. The vintage décor, complete with old tiles, nostalgic colors, and an abundance of sun-soaked plants in the large windows, created an atmosphere that resonated with the city's history. The owner, whose name I'm unsure of, greeted me with the warmth and humor that is quintessentially Alaskan. Being a self-proclaimed coffee snob, I decided to put their skills to the test with an iced Americano. To my delight, the shots tasted fresh, and I found myself thoroughly enjoying every sip. While waiting for my salmon sandwich, I observed the owner interacting with loyal customers. It was a joy to witness the genuine camaraderie between them, as if they had been friends for years. The atmosphere was not just about good food and coffee but also about building connections within the community. The anticipation for my salmon sandwich grew as the aroma filled the cafe. When it arrived, I could tell it was made fresh, and the taste confirmed it. The sandwich was a true delight—fresh, flavorful, and a testament to the owner's commitment to quality. What struck me most was the meaningful conversations the owner engaged in with customers. It was evident that each interaction was more than just a transaction; it was an opportunity to connect and share stories. When my food arrived, the owner's kindness added an extra layer of enjoyment to my experience. In conclusion, Cafe 817 is a place that goes beyond serving great coffee and delicious food. It's a time capsule to Anchorage's past, a hub for genuine connections, and a haven for those seeking a delightful culinary experience. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.“
“This coffee shop is hands down the best well known secret of Alaska! Kenley (the owner/ operator) is a gem. my girl and I were in Alaska vacationing this winter and stumbled upon this place, we were not disappointed! This quaint little off the road drive up coffee shop has some of the best vibes and coffee around! Coming from Vegas where everything has to be immaculate or it doesn’t survive, this shop blows the coffee back home out of the water! Phenomenal service from all of her staff, the food is amazing and the cheer will warm you up before the coffee does! If you have ever thought about it, or have skipped over it in the past, then do yourself the favor and get your buns down here now! My only regret is that we didn’t find it sooner, and our trip ends today! Kenley, thank you again and thank you for doing coffee the right way! 10/10 would buy again!“
“I run a local produce delivery business, Arctic Harvest Deliveries. Two weeks ago, one of our pickup locations was unexpectedly closed for several days because of the snowstorm. The owner of Cafecito Bonito, whom we had never spoken to before, stepped up without hesitation, offering to act as host for the day. Their kindness and generosity are still giving me the warm and fuzzies. This is what community is all about.“
“First time visiting. Sandwich menu was explained and I chose the Jive Turkey. I also got a sugar free iced drink. The sandwich was excellent from the first bite to the last. The iced drink was also excellent. Did I mention the excellent service? I will definitely be going back… thank you for the great experience!“
“Nice old diner around since the 80s. They don't take cards but do have an atm. The food is goodParking: There is limited parking in front fire compact cars only, but a large gravel lot to the south side of the building.Kid-friendliness: Kids welcome! Not many specific kid options, but it's a homey atmosphere.Wheelchair accessibility: All tables are freestanding with chairs that can be removed. There is a small step up to the counter area, but everything else is accessible“
“I absolutely love this little shop! The vibe is just so calm and quiet compared to the bustle of the other businesses in the strip. The staff is always super friendly! And the coffee always tastes so good! It has such a unique flavor and the syrups taste very fresh - I only have one other place to compare it to and they closed during Covid, they made their lattes with housemade vanilla bean syrup and honey, it was always worth the extra drive, and the lattes here taste just like that! I haven't tried the food yet but it always sounds so tasty. I would definitely recommend stopping by.“
“Took my small team of coworkers here for lunch and we had a great time. Our waiter was super friendly and food came out fast. I ordered an açaí bowl and a coffee… he asked what size coffee and I said with a desperate chuckle, “got any soup bowls?” He surprised me with an impressively large mug/bowl of coffee that made my day!“
“I called in an order and the lady on the other end was super sweet! If you’re curious, you can pay over the phone and they do accept Apple Pay :)I ordered the mango greens, super good but I barely tasted any mango but overall I really loved the smoothie and it definitely filled me up.Im still giving it a 5 star because my fiancé said that when we went to pick the drink up he was offered some samples of the juices and he loved it way better than the other juice shops around town and this is coming from a man that’s picky ?Definitely will be back to try the food and juices!“
“Very kind and helpful! They definitely exceeded my expectations. This is a 4 tier vanilla cake with guava filling. I drove with the entire cake and it didn't budge at all. Very sturdy and well made. Taste was a solid 8/10 and the service is 10/10! Thank you Nilda's!“
“Love this place. The servings are always large, the food is hot and tasty. It’s my go to “comfort food” place when I need something fast, not crazy expensive and satisfying. The people at the counter and kitchen are always friendly. Highly recommend supporting this place.“
“This place is authentic as it gets. Delicious, expertly crafted, and mouth watering Italian sandwiches made with high quality traditional ingredients. This place reminds me of lunches my Nonna would make back in New York. The Mufaletta sandwich was out of this world amazing. Excellent portions of cheese, meats, and spread. Their Cannolis are also some of the best I’ve had, with a perfectly baked pastry and rich filling.I’m not fluent in Italian but my ear perked up when I heard it being spoke and I felt like I was at home. Excellent restaurant.“
“Everything!!! My first visit there was earlier this week with two friends. I ordered the Goat Cheese and Beet Salad. It was out-of-this-world. The encrusted Goat Cheese was extraordinary. It was warm with a delicious crispy outside and a warm soft goat cheese inside. There were 3 on the salad and I could only eat one. I brought the other 2 home, warmed them up in my toaster oven and again they were amazing even the next day. The salad was huge. I also brought half of it home. The Basil Balsamic dressing was perfect and the candied pecans were huge and amazing too. The whole salad was wonderful with the combination of the other ingredients. It came with a yummy warm homemade biscuit. I also ordered their Tomato Basil Soup and it was the best I have ever had and it is a favorite of mine and I have ordered it at many other restaurants. It too came with a biscuit. For dessert I ordered the Chocolate Thunder Cake which I took home. I have had it in small slices, warmed up, with vanilla ice cream and I still have lots of slices to go. It totally melts in your mouth. I am a dark chocolate lover and it was the best. I am going to Sis’s Cafe again tomorrow with another friend!! Silver“
“This place is seriously so underrated! They have some of the best (my #1 favorite) coffee in all of Anchorage! The frappe is one of my favorites as well as just the regular plain coffees. Super rich and flavorful! The waffles here are delicious as well and very customizable. I can’t recommend this place enough!“
“Spiked shoes for easier walking and pin - pointing places where you want to meet with your partner @ a date set or any time that works for them... More private places... Mine would be the Airport to see if anyone we know arrives or leaves... I know a secret room there to read or catch up on anything that I missed about 37-38 years ago or what my parents or grandparents was involved in... On going family problems... I'm really interested in connecting with H.M.C.C. (Hiland Mountain Correctional Center's, input on places they'd like to visit here in Anchorage before they return home) Correctional Center's :( hotel's w/ elevator's will work... ) Key's to places that are chosen... I'd choose The Captain Cook as a nice place to go.“

“absolutely love their boba pearls. soft and keeps me coming back. they only have one size cup but it’s large and greatly priced. they most likely won’t serve u boba at the last :30min mark before they close tho and often have boba out of stock anyways. i don’t like any of their flavors besides taro. i only ever get taro boba and that’s what keeps me going back lol“
“Good place to order from early in the morning, I have which only have had two bad experiences one time wasn’t the work places fault but I got cut in line when grabbing a drink so I recommend ordering first lol and second time I ordered a breakfast croissant egg cheese sandwich with an add-on of avocado and bacon and I only got an egg and cheese on it and I had payed extra for the avocado and bacon was too tired and checked when I already left so I didn’t want to come back and it was too early and didn’t want to argue about it so I ate it, still good just mad I payed extra other than that I recommend checking food before you leave incase something is wrong :)“
