“Great as always. Super nice server. Oyster basket was perfect. Best fried oysters in bham. Friday night dinner with my 7-year-old daughter. They had crayons and coloring sheets for her when we walked in. Her fried shrimp basket was great and she loves the fried okra. So glad this place is back open and doing well. This is my favorite restaurant in the Birmingham Metro.“

“I was scared to stop by this restaurant because of the reviews I have read on here but I walked in spoke to the Asian lady and she spoke back .I came back the next week and the same lady took my order .I speak put in my order and wait while it's cooked fresh .The two young African American ladies I encounter has been nice and polite . I'm not sure if they read your reviews and changed but I haven't had not one problem and the food has bern hot and Delicious. I Pray it stays this way“

“If anyone ever worked for their money, the Hontzas family sure has. First of all, they’re usually very busy but they sure know how to keep the line moving and get everyone seated promptly. In the food line there’s something for everyone. This is one of the few places where I could get all vegetables. The neighborhood is a bit rough but don’t let that discourage you from going bc people from all sides of town eat here.“

“This was a nice restaurant. It appeared to be a black business. Very nice decorum. It had R&B music in the background playing softly, with several large screen tvs up on the wall. Playing sports, news, and music videos to your liking. The food here was out of the world. Everything was seasoned well, and the portion size was enough for two people. There weren't a lot of service workers but they were very nice and helpful. I can't wait to return.“

“The food was perfect, i got a blue crab and smow crab boil. It had all the usual potatoes, corn, sausage. The sausage was so delicious, i wanted a few more. I couldn't hear what the server was asking because he was so soft spoken and the music in there is at like a volume 9/10. It was so loud it was rediculas, I had to yell across the table to my husband for him to hear me. He has sensitive ears so he very unhappy the entire time. But the food was very good. They said yes come on. We walked across the parking lot walked in stood for less than 5 mins and they had us set up and ready to go. Food was fantastic… All the staff were so friendly.. “We were visiting Birmingham and stopped by this place. The blackened shrimp has nice flavor, well seasoned. I loved crust on the spinach patties. The peas and rice was tasty. Make sure to ask for the gravy if you like them a little saucy. Make sure you stop by and give this place a try.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Captain D’s, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was met with a warm and inviting atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

The highlight of my visit was the incredible lady behind the counter. She was so kind and helpful, going above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. She patiently explained the menu, offered great recommendations, and even checked in to see if everything was to my liking. “This a nice looking little gem. It's a fresh seafood market and also seafood takeout spot. They cook your food fresh and the prices are sweet. You can order from their menu or have them cook the fresh seafood that is weighed by the lb and cooked on the spot. Try go at least once on Saturday one or two times a month.“
