“Best brunch I’ve had in years (& I brunch often). The restaurant is in a cool area, had a great atmosphere with a fun attentive staff, and most importantly delicious food. We had the bottomless tapas brunch with complementary mimosas. We enjoyed the variety of tapas options and nothing disappointed. My delightfully full stomach forced me to stop, but some standouts were the Lox, Fried Green Tomatoes, Steak & Gouda Biscuits, French Toast, Jalapeño Bacon, and exquisite Beignets. It’s a modest sized place, so make a reservation and thank me later!”

“This past Saturday, I treated myself to a me date a day dedicated entirely to myself. After indulging in a relaxing one-hour massage, I found myself absolutely starving. Wanting to try something new, I continued my exploration of Homewood’s restaurant scene and landed on The Battery. I met my aunt there for lunch, and as soon as we arrived, I knew we were in for a treat. The place was packed inside and out which is usually a great sign. After about a 15 minute wait, we were seated. The interior had a modern, inviting atmosphere, and the service was excellent. Our waiter was incredibly kind, answered all of my questions, and I never once had to ask for a refill. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was impressively quick, and every dish arrived hot. Appetizers Buffalo Wings – The wings were well-sauced and smoked to perfection, with the meat falling off the bone effortlessly. However, the biggest letdown was the lack of seasoning. While the smoky flavor was great, the wings themselves needed more depth. 7.9/10 (With proper seasoning, this would easily be in the high 8s or even a 9). Queso & Chips – The chips were fresh, crunchy, and unseasoned but still did the job. The queso had potential, but it lacked the bold flavors needed to truly stand out. It wasn’t bad, but it could have been much better. 6/10 Entrées & Sides Wedge Salad – The salad itself was solid, but the bacon was a miss. It had an overpowering liquid smoke taste, leaving a strange aftertaste and smell. 7/10 Fries – These were outstanding hot, crispy, and well-seasoned. I also appreciated the variety of cuts and shapes. 8.5/10 Smash Burger – A well-executed smash burger with that signature crispy edge and juicy interior. However, the meat itself wasn’t seasoned, which held it back from being exceptional. 8/10 Final Thoughts Overall, The Battery was a great experience, and I’d happily return. The biggest downside was the lack of seasoning across multiple dishes. If they improved that, their food would easily score even higher. That said, I still highly recommend trying this place. Final Rating: 8/10 Service: 10/10 – Absolutely fantastic staff! Would I go back? Without a doubt.”

“Cute little place if you are hungry for a juicy burger and fries, but a bit pricey and really small in case it is raining, or you want to dine in they have very limited seating inside. Staff was polite and efficient. Burger was juicy and a bit greasy on the outside but what's a burger without grease? I would stop in again if I was in the area at lunchtime, but the parking is a nightmare in this plaza to begin with and a nightmare to get in and out of so good luck with that situation but if you can get in and find a place to park try the burger and fries. Oh, it looks like they only have burgers, dogs and fries. You will spend $20 for a quick lunch but worth a try at least once.”

I love this place so much and I’ve been to the other location in vestavia, the service is great, the food is good, the only problem i have is the blenders are EXTREMELY loud and it makes it really hard to focus to study or talk to someone. I’ve been enjoying the homewood location more because of the wonderful atmosphere and chill cafe vibes.”

“Fantastic food! I had the basil pork and it was wonderful. The old fashioned with the smoked orange was also the bomb. The owner ( I think it was the owner--it was very loud and I couldn't hear him, but he appeared at our table of six at least twice) was super attentive and has a kind demeanor. I will be back.”

“Great burger, and the mediterranean stuff is good too. It's basically a one-man (the eponymous Sam) show. This is a counter service, make your own drink, plastic utensil situation. Parking stinks, seating is laissez faire.
USUALLY a pretty good wait of 6-10 minutes. Folks don't mind and neither should you. Phone in ahead if desired. Guess who answers the phone???
GO- used to be a zillion places like this, often specializing in hot dogs. Fewer every year.

“I liked the Mayan coffee and the stoic service. I don't know what happened to my hearing that day but I had the hardest time understanding the barista. She took it in stride and after my third fumble she started speaking with an accentuation that bordered on the theatrical and a smile that showed more empathy than frustration or sarcasm. “Okay as someone who LOVES acai bowls and have had them at multiple different places in different cities, I must admit that Farm Bowl and Juice Company has the best and cutest açaí bowls I've ever had! I've been twice so far since the opening and it taste amazing, I wish I could afford to eat it every single day! I love the atmosphere as well. I normally go to other juice bars and açaí places in Tuscaloosa, but Farm Bowls is so much closer to my home. So between it being close to home, the best açaí bowls ever, friendly staff, and a great atmosphere, I am SOLD!”

Drinks are stiff and affordable, the jukebox holds a lot of classics, the decorations are quirky, and guests as well as staff are welcoming and friendly. Not ADA compliment and no one under the age of 21 is admitted.The bar is a little too simple, too worn, and too divy to deserve a 5 star rating but that doesn't mean that you cannot have a 6 star experience at this place”

“Just wanted to check it out- totally cool concept for this neighborhood and a very cool gathering spot if you have a small group or kids- Bham Burger was great! Best bologna I’ve had in a minute. The cookie plug? $5 for a cookie- a regular cookie. Could buy mini cookies at $1 each but it’s a quarter size cookie! Sooo not sure how much demand for expensive cookies but the other spots are promising with great menus and we’ll be back…”

“My daughter was super hungry and getting cranky because she was tired. We decided to run in Otey's Tavern to grab something. I wasn't sure what to expect, I didn't search reviews before going like I usually do. Not only was the club salad HUGE, it was SO GOOD. The bacon was nice and crispy, the lettuce, tomato 🥰 and cucumber were fresh and the turkey/ham were shredded which I love!!! She had her heart set on fruit for her side. When we found out they didn't have it right now (which isn't their fault, it's a seasonal thing) she had big feelings that the whole restaurant heard. Brian, a bartender who has just gotten off work and was eating before leaving heard Audrey crying. GUYS. HE WENT TO ANOTHER RESTAURANT AND GOT HER SOME FRUIT. IT WAS SO SO SWEET!!!!! I had no clue he was doing it but he let our waitress know and brought it to the table. It was so kind. Such a sweet thing to do. I just had to let everyone know about how great the food AND people were there!!! The waitress (I'm so sorry I didn't ask her name) was also super sweet and accommodating!! 🥰 Go eat there and don't forget to tip!!!”
