“I recently visited Browns Socialhouse during my trip from Australia, and I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service, particularly from Fraser, the host. From the moment I walked in, Fraser’s warm and welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home, even halfway across the world.

He went above and beyond to ensure my experience was exceptional, providing thoughtful recommendations and engaging in friendly conversation that made me feel like a valued guest. It’s rare to encounter someone with such genuine hospitality, and Fraser absolutely set the tone for a fantastic dining experience.

The food and atmosphere were great, but Fraser’s outstanding service was the highlight of my visit. If you’re ever in the area, make sure to stop by—you won’t be disappointed“

“My usual go to cafe for Eggs Benedict is Kelly’s cafe but today I tried Tania’s because of the opening time and l was totally satisfied the Benny/HB delicious the coffee & service was excellent you can’t go wrong if so Kelly’s is just a short drive away . “Both places are awesome” .“

“I have not seen a restaurant that compares to the Nest Bistro - it's beautiful, quiet enough, and the window makes you feel like you're on the 5th floor. They have a very classy and traditional service, partnered with an excellent menu. What I noticed was that they were very conscious of your experience, instead of just throwing stuff at you, hoping it sticks. They took the time to present options, and compliment your food with the right choices by helping you along.

Ultimately, I was surprised at the discovery of this place, and would highlight it for next time I'm back in Nanaimo.

Parking: The location is under the sign, although conspicuous, so make sure you just look down the porch. They were full when we went, so the sign wasn't out, but they made room for us.“

“Going up island? Stay on the #1 right through Nanaimo and stop at Alice’s Restaurant. You will find it upstairs at the far end of the Value Lodge, west side of the highway. I have been there twice now and it doesn’t disappoint. Interesting atmosphere with huge plates of very tasty food. Just look at the pictures! The size of those pancakes! You are looking at simple breakfast orders for 3 ladies. If you have young children don’t order them meals. You will be able to feed them from your plate. If you have teenage boys, you will be able to fill them up without spending a lot. Service, well in fairness it was busy but great food takes time to prepare.“

“What a great gem of a restaurant, the food was really good with a reasonable price point. Would definitely repeat next time we are in town.

Parking: The restaurant is a converted home, with street parking.

Kid-friendliness: It was kid friendly.“

“A great, lively atmosphere with friendly servers! That spicy dill dip was SO good!“

“They had a hard time locating a seat so I stated we could sit in the bar area. He took us to the bar, not a table since he said the seats are actually more comfortable at the bar. The bartender/server was Ashley. All I can say is Fantastic. She was attentive and on her game. Someone from the back brought out our food and she noticed the order was missing the gravy. Quick to rectify. Montana's is a great place but she made it even better. Great job Ashley. Thank you.“
