“We were a group of three for lunch yesterday. I had been going to Greek restaurants in Vancouver for 40 years before I moved back to Ucluelet. The wonderful experience surpassed all of the past ones with the best authentic lamb souvlaki and tzatziki, exceptional service and welcoming atmosphere I have ever experienced. Huge kudos to a truly destination restaurant.“

“I went for lunch with coworkers and we ordered our food ahead of time so it would be ready shortly after getting there as we only had an hour. We had to wait about 25 min after arriving to get our food, which was disappointing. I had the jalapeno burger with a gluten free bun. The bun was very good, but the rest was a little bland. I don't know where the jalapeno was supposed to be in the burger (I think maybe the jam?) but I couldn't taste it at all. My side salad was quite good and I enjoyed it more than the burger. The atmosphere was very nice and we enjoyed ourselves overall. I wish I could give 3.5 stars, as I'm not quite at a 4, but I think 3 is too low. Maybe I just need to give it another try!“

“Best Vietnamese I've had in ages. Excellent food and good, family-run restaurant. I knew it was a winner the moment I stepped in the door and smelled what was coming out of the kitchen.

Menu was extensive. Food came out of kitchen piping hot - no premade combos here. Everything was fresh, delicious and authentic.

It was so good, that I grabbed a bahn mi to go for later.“

“Brown Socialhouse in Nanaimo has been one of my go-to spots for the last 3 years, and it’s one of those places I always end up coming back to. We pretty much order the same thing every time—the Loaded Chicken Nachos, the Southwest Blackened Chicken Bowl, and the #28 Dragon Bowl—and they’ve never let us down. The portions are great, everything comes out fresh, and the nachos are honestly hard to beat. We usually grab a couple of drinks too, which always go well with the food.

What stands out the most, though, is the staff. Everyone is always friendly and welcoming, and the service has been consistently great every time we’ve visited. The atmosphere is lively but still relaxed, which makes it an easy place to spend a couple of hours with friends. Definitely one of my favourite spots in town.“

“Out of the pub/lounge venues in Nanaimo, they were the quickest to respond to our request to reserve a table of 20. Our group had a great time socializing and enjoying good brews. My personal favourites were the Radler (mango, pineapple, lime) and Ciders (Rum based and cranberry based). Great atmosphere, easy to socialize, staff were great. Thanks for helping me make the after work social a success! I only wished we could have stayed longer into the night. Thank you White Sails for a good night.“

“First time trying Noodlebox. I tried their pad thai with chicken (I've eaten many pad thais in Thailand). The flavor was spot on, but the noodle was undercooked. Beansprouts were crispy but there was no chives. :(

“My wife and I went to the food court in Woodgrove Mall, Nanaimo a few days ago. We chose the three choices meal from the Manchu Wok. We chose Sweet & Sour pork, Salt & pepper fish and Honey & Garlic chicken accompanied by vegetable fried rice. There was plenty for the two of us. The meal was very tasty and enjoyable and represented excellent value for less than C$ 15. Staff were very helpful. I'll be going there again!“

“This OJ's is always great, the staff are calm even when it is super busy, they always have a smile and the restaurant is never loud with music or sports blaring in the background. We had dietary restrictions and those were met with a smile. My only complaint on this particular day was the server forgot a few things, and I don't like to be 'that person' to remind them and make them feel bad.“
