“Visited the Nanaimo location for brunch with my mom today. Although I work close by, this was my first time in. The service was excellent, and went beyond expectations for vegan options for me. We each had coffee flights and crepes. I was thinking it would be more like a snack, but it was surprisingly filling at kept me going all day at work. Will definitely be back!“

“First time going to Luna. The service was wonderful and the food was incredible. I ordered the two tacos and chips and salsa. I had one Raja (vegetarian) and Rock Cod. Both were yummy but the Raja was my favourite.My friend had the churro fries and loved them.Vegetarian options: A few vegetarian options which were absolutely my favorite. I'm not vegetarian but I often like trying different items off the menu.Dietary restrictions: I am celiac and had no worries when ordering off the menu. Everything was very clearly labeled and I felt very comfortable.“

They also have a few gluten free muffins (occasionally).The ONLY reason I couldn’t give 5 stars, and the reason we don’t stop in more, is because too often there’s no available table, TOO many people with laptops sitting for hour or longer, nursing one coffee. Try doing like so many other cafes, charge for internet after 15min.“

I got a decent sized platter with 7 chedder cheese and potatoe friends, a generous dollop of sour cream, sweet grilled onions, a delicious tangy cole slaw and a sprinkle of crispy bacon. My eyes were bigger than my appetite but I couldn’t leave any friends behind. Small seating area inside and out and super friendly owners.“
“Best Vietnamese restaurant on the island! We were in Nanaimo for 5 days and stopped by Saigon Kitchen twice for dinner. Food was great and staffs were very friendly! Every dish we had were truly authentic Vietnamese food! Will definitely come back to this restaurant if we visit Nanaimo again. “I recently ordered takeout breakfast from this restaurant for a work team meeting, and it was a delightful experience. The food was not only delicious but also arrived on time for our early pick-up. Everyone on the team enjoyed the meal, and I would highly recommend it for any future catering needs. The inside of the new café has a fantastic ambiance, and I'm looking forward to visiting in person. The friendly service added to the positive experience, and I'll definitely be ordering for my meetings again. Overall, a great choice for both takeout and dining in!“
“I was walking by the shop last week, and I decided to see if they had any gluten free cupcakes. Lo and behold, GF and dairy free (vegan)! And oh my gosh, they were delicious! The flavour of the chocolate cake was rich and with a perfect crumb. The frosting was generous and flavourful, and topped with a real and really delicious raspberry. The toasted coconut frosting was just perfect! I almost ate all 4 cupcakes all by myself… ?Thank you for making vegan and gluten free cupcakes The shop is tiny so not a place where you can sit indoors, but it is pretty, so you can admire the décor while you’re ordering your cupcakes to go.“

“Our server Alisha was wonderful and very efficient. The "Dining out Nanaimo" menu was canceled Jan 17 without any notification. We had confirmed it would be when we called for the reservation. When we arrived, we learned that it would not be available. What a disappointment.... and frankly, false advertising. Simply, do better.“

“Nice cozy place with very nice people, not just the staff, patrons as well. Incredible snacks, great hot/cold drinks of several types. The washrooms are also kept clean. “I've only had coffee and Nanaimo bars here to date but like it very much. Some might question the ratio of top to middle layer in the bars, weighted heavily to middle, or the middle leaning more towards fluffiness than custardiness, but I'm good on those counts and the fact that the lower layer features puffed rice (I think) in place of the more traditional dessicated coconut is a win for me. Nice sort of Victorian-ish interior, too, and prime central location with lots of natural light.“
