“I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, this is the best cafe in town. The home made baked goods are top tier, and the service is always excellent. If you haven’t gone here and you’re craving something sweet, you have to try this place!!“

“This cafe is truly a gem 💎 it is a special place not only does it serve great food and drinks but it is an important community hub. There are not many places these days especially a locally owned business with a comfortable atmosphere and space where people can relax and catch up with others or their book/work. The owners are so welcoming and friendly. I truly hope this cafe will be around for a long time.

Running a cafe successfully isn't at all easy. Lots of behind the scenes sacrifice, work, stress, increasing costs of all materials.... The owners are always so generous if you notice they never hesitate to give customers take out containers/cups for free and this is just one example.

This is why we all need to support locally owned businesses to not only survive but thrive especially ones that are dear to our communities like Hiel cafe.

“First time having really great tasting food at a cafe (mango wrap). The dirty chai was also spectacular ! Close to Douglas campus and New West skytrain station. It's operated fully by the owner and their partner that tend to lots of customers daily. I'll definitely make sure to come by more often. They were very attentive to customers even during the busiest rush. Small detail, but the groovy music selection also made perceived time waiting in line pass by quickly and comfortably.“

“I was in New West for a meeting, so after I was hungry. I had a choice, it was either McDonald's or across the street Jim's Cafe. I decided to give Jim's a try,and I'm sure glad I did. The atmosphere was great, service was wonderful and the food was just great!! To bad I live in North Vancouver, otherwise I would be at Jim's almost everyday. “This is my second time coming to sweet talk, the previous time I had a mini egg donut, this time I had their egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. I must say they were both amazing, and the prices are very affordable! All of their products are homemade. The atmosphere was very bright, cozy and inviting. The bathrooms were very clean and nice smelling( including the hand soap). when I walked in, I was greeted by Kate who not only told me about all the products but we ended up having a full on conversation! It was very pleasant talking with her, Kate brang my food to me plus asked if I wanted anything else. This is the true meaning of customer service; these days it’s hard to find! “We only bought some different beans by Republica, and we haven’t purchased coffee in-store or used their café services, so I can’t comment meaningfully on the service or atmosphere.

However, my father is a big coffee enthusiast. He grinds and brews his own coffee daily, and he has already tried Republica’s beans from different regions. We’ve also tested beans from four or five other roasters across Greater Vancouver.

So far, Republica’s beans stand out as having the BEST ROASTING quality, being the FRESHEST, and also the most reasonably priced in Metro.

If you’re open to enjoying different types of coffee beans, I’d highly recommend taking advantage of their weekly coffee bean sales and you can buy with full confidence.“

“I had my daughter's 4th birthday party at Little Bean in August 2025. It was very quiet on a Sunday afternoon of a long weekend so it was nice to practically have the play area to ourselves. The parents really enjoyed the coffees and the kids loved the hour of play and then hour in the party room. The food included in the party package was adequate for our group (two medium pizzas, fruit tray and veggie tray for 23 people) but we added an extra pizza just to be safe. The price was steeper than I'm used to paying for a birthday party but it was nice to have to prepare very little - just show up and enjoy ourselves! Their private room had everything we needed (plates, water, cups, cutlery, etc). The staff were very attentive. Julia was very helpful and kind. They were also accommodating about us bringing a gluten free pizza in for our birthday girl. All the interactions I've had with the staff through phone calls and past visits have always been phenomenal. I would definitely recommend having a party here for kids five and under as long as your budget isn't too tight.“

I was greeted so warmly, the woman running the shop made me a bubble waffle with whipped cream and a honey lemon tea, and I enjoyed both immensely. I sat at a little table and peacefully studied for an hour, and I enjoyed the ambiance. It's not a modern, Western interior. It's the same sort of vibe you would get at Happy Day Cafe. I've never had JJ Bean before, and I came in looking for a quick snack to enjoy by the beach.

The maple pecan cookie was scrumptious.

Soft cookie with hints of smoky maple and the crunch from the pecan in every bite are stunning. I would come here for the cookie alone.

Service was quick and friendly.

Again, I liked the atmosphere because of its natural feeling.

The gal making the coffee did very good job just kept on working until it was done. People coming and going it was so busy.
