“It was a very special visit, it was actually closed, but Tom came and made time for us whiskey friends from Germany. We knew Macaloney whiskey from a tasting and its Scottish-Canadian peculiarity. He showed us the visitor rooms and also the heart of the distillery, and there was also a small tasting. Great cinema, this employee lives the passion of whiskey making. The owners can be proud to have such a passionate employee!“

“I've been to a lot of tasting rooms, and was very impressed how this one was set up. When ordering a flight, you're given printed tasting notes for each of the beers, arranged in a suggested tasting order. Great selection to choose from (including products suitable for people with gluten issues, like my wife!)“

“Philips is a staple in Victoria Society. Locally owned and loved by the community. So many different kinds of beer to choose from makes for some hard decisions. Great flavor's of soda for the non beer drinkers. I like the shop is it is clean and does not smell of stale beer like some other brewery growler stations do. I give Phillips and Eleven out of Ten.“

“Was looking for caffeine and soup and ended up with an iced Americano and congee? Never expected to see congee but given my dental procedure just prior, I decided to give it a try. Congee was amazing! Not what you’d expect from a Chinese congee and in the best way. Americano was super smooth without the over-roasted bitterness of some better known coffee brands. I was on the island for a visit and will be back at my next opportunity.“

“Tried a pilot mango wheat here, and it was delicious and refreshing, and very smooth with a strong mango flavor. Definitely needs to become part of the permanent summer lineup. I have had other mango wheat beers from different breweries and this was by far the best one. Clearly the brewer knew what they were doing with this one. The rest of the beer is very good too!“

“Beautiful wood interior with cozy corners high ceilings and a classic vibe. Tables aren't close together, and the little stage featuring live music was just loud enough. I loved it! Service is excellent. Specialty drinks were unique and well executed. Food was generous in size and flavorful. I will go back!“

“We used to order from Jones BBQ but haven't for about 2 years. We just did and unfortunately are very disappointed. The quality has gone downhill. The brisket on the totchos was very little, and what was there was mostly fat - not just a "fatty cut of brisket," but actual chunks of fat thrown in there. Also, the pulled pork sandwich was super greasy and the bun was saturated. We only ate half of our dinner because the food was unappetizing. We did call to give feedback and were told that if we don't want that fatty brisket, we need to ask for a leaner cut. Well, that wasn't the case two years ago. So overall, prices are up, quality is down, and the service was poor. Even after reporting the issues and that our stomachs weren't feeling great from all the grease, we got an "I'm sorry, have a wonderful day." They knew we weren't satisfied with the food and didn't offer any sort of remedy. They couldnt have made it any more obvious that they dont care. We definitely won't be back.“

They always have a new seasonal drink to try, that's only shown when you visit in person, and they host the Cinco de Mayo celebration menu. The food was quite tasty and filling. “We were looking for a contemporary restaurant that served seafood dishes that matched our tastes. We chose Fire + Water because of the dishes offered. We were so happy about this choice as our food was so good and fulfilled our cravings for fresh seafood since we are from the Prairies. For our appetizer we ordered calamari which was on happy hour special. They were not oily and did not have too much breading. My boyfriend ordered the salmon and scallops which was delicious and cooked perfectly. I ordered the Fire and Water seafood salad and it had prawns, candied salmon and smoked salmon. It was a huge portion of salad with lots of protein. I will dream of that salad forever. 😍 Our server was super nice and the food came out quickly. Next time we are visiting Victoria, we would totally come again.“

“Love this place for watching a game. If it’s a game night I would not come here to have a good conversation because it is very loud. It’s a great bar with tons of tvs, perfect for watching some hockey. Drinks are good here and the food is mediocre nothing special. I would recommend just getting nachos or fries.“

“Had the Moroccan bowl, it was rather spicy for me, but I was able to eat it. (I don’t tolerate spice well ) Included kale and brown rice. I appreciate that they have dishes and flatware for people who eat in. Apricot cookie yummy. We ordered at the counter and paid and then took our bowls to the inside tables.“

Our main purpose was to attend Benji’s Pub Quiz and it was a fantastic good time.
The Fernwood Inn also has a pretty good pub vibe to it.“
