“We ordered the king salmon sashimi—it was very fresh, creamy, and tender. We also tried Taka’s signature set, which included miso soup, a small bowl of edamame, a house roll, and five pieces of aburi. Additionally, we ordered a wagyu aburi and a caterpillar roll. All the rolls were delicious. The aburi was fresh, though they all tasted quite similar due to the same sauce on top. The miso soup was just average, with only two slices of mushroom. The wagyu aburi was tender, but the portion felt small, especially considering it costs $12 per piece.
Would revisit if I’m in White Rock again.“

The atmosphere is incredible—dining in traditional tatami rooms inside a century-old building makes for a truly immersive experience. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with every dish showcasing authentic Japanese craftsmanship. “After moving into the area, I was pleasantly surprised in the quality of food. I have been here a few times now and tell all my friends about it. When walking in, we were greeted right away. It was busy, almost all the tables full.
I was saddened to hear you are relocating but, happy to hear it's not ti far away.
Best wishes in your new location. See you there 👍 😉 😀“

“Food was great but the best thing about this restaurant is their staff! I had left my engagement ring in the bathroom after washing my hands. I realized it was gone when I came home and called Ato sushi right away. The server confirmed that she found it in the bathroom. The level of honesty baffled, me and it really reflects the values of this business. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your honesty! I truly appreciate it and the food was great and fresh! You have the best team! We are so lucky to have a restaurant like this in our neighborhood“

“Very happy to find this gem.
Fast friendly service for a family of 6. I ordered the single size spicy chirashi salad bowl, it was huge! Full of fresh sashimi. Family all enjoyed their meals as well: Reno and sockeye rolls, two ebi sunomono salads (at least 8 pieces of shrimp), karaage, California rolls for the kids, miso soup, chicken roll and fighting shrimp roll.
Next time we are in the area, we will go back.“

“Love the sushi. The Toro and Salmon nigiri have the biggest cuts of fish I have seen other than the Tokyo Fish Market. The restaurant accidentally forgot to throw in one of my rolls on a takeout order, and they delivered it to my house in less than 10 mins… felt more like 5 mins.“

“I usually like this Japanese restaurant, I have introduced this to my friends, students, family and friends. I tried their sashimi salad and boy am I disappointed. I ask the server if it’s a Japanese recipe or Korean recipe, it tasted and smelled like kimchi. I like kimchi but I’m in a Japanese restaurant so I am expecting a Japanese cuisine. The sashimi salad doesn’t taste good at all it even has a bitter taste on it. When I mentioned it to the server she didn’t say anything, I felt ignored. In spite of that I will still eat there ( but will never try again their sashimi salad, not recommended needs to change their dressing) because I love their chicken teriyaki and their deluxe tempura. I also find them not that expensive.“
“Very good sushi spot taking over from Fleetwood Sushi. Sushi is quick and good quality. Service and staff are great. One of my favorite take out spots but I’m sure dine in service is good too. They are attentive to allergies (including gluten free). Great location wish them all the best.“
“Dunning the one and half year of Covid 19 pandemic , sad to see a lot of restaurants struggling to stay afloat , lot of them just shut their door for good , , some owner started cut back quality , hop in for late lunch after dropping my aunt off from the hospital, first time visit , looks a young family run , not a big place , but Safety guidelines well performed , clean and cozy atmosphere , I feel very comfortable about it , menu is a single use , it is almost 2pm , still the place is packed , lot of take out ,,I choose the Sashimi Benton , one of the best experiences I had for Benton , WOW ! WOW ! surprised to see the Thick cut of Salmon ,Tuna ,Tai Sashimi , the owner is not cutting back !!! and it is so fresh just melt in my month ,very colourful , the teriyaki chicken very delicious , rice can improved , little soft , but over all fantastic Japanese Sushi place , very affordable staff very friendly , she come back twice make sure I am happy ! this restaurant can stand side by side at any 5 star restaurant in Vancouver ! for their quality and service , well done ! I will be back for sure ! if you are in the area ,give it a try !you will thank me for it !“
“For what it is (pre-made sushi), and for the price, this sushi is great. It can’t be compared to sushi from a dedicated restaurant made right before you ordered it, but here you can get 5 pieces of salmon nigiri, an entire cucumber roll, salmon/avocado roll and California roll all for $19. Obviously inspect the dates it was made and don’t buy it if it’s old - have only seen that once. Normally it’s all made recently and looks/tastes pretty good.“

“I've tried many sushi places and Sushi Wara is definitely the best I've tried so far! Their California rolls blow everyone else's out of the water and their chicken karaage is better than dedicated chicken restaurants!
I've ordered here constantly using Uber eats and never had any problems with delivery time being long.
Also had a chance to dine in recently and the decor is amazing. Service is also impeccable!
Definitely a level above the rest and its gonna be hard for me to find something better.“

“Recommend Sushi Gio! Great service, great food and great prices. Amazing staff and pleasant atmosphere. When you order a pop it comes with a glass with ice instead of just a can like other places. Daughter says the washrooms had a good vibe and that she wants to recommend and she gives it five stars!“

“If you’re looking to enjoy real, top-notch Japanese cuisine, you absolutely have to visit Damiko Sushi in South Surrey. Every time I go, I’m blown away by the quality, freshness, and authentic flavours. This place is a hidden gem!
My personal favourite? The Damiko House Salad — it’s not just a salad, it’s a perfect meal. The balance of textures, flavours, and that incredible house dressing make it unforgettable. It’s refreshing, satisfying, and something I crave all the time.
Their miso soup is hands-down the best I’ve ever had. Deep, rich flavour with the perfect umami — it’s pure comfort in a bowl. But it doesn’t stop there… every dish I’ve tried is crafted with care, from sushi rolls to sashimi to their daily specials.
The staff are always welcoming, the atmosphere is cozy and clean, and the attention to detail is evident in everything they do. Whether you’re a sushi connoisseur or just discovering Japanese cuisine, Damiko Sushi is a must-visit.
Highly recommend — your taste buds will thank you!“

“Food and prices are excellent. Prices are 2 to 4 dollars less per dish compared to other sushi places in the area. One of the better places we've been to in Langley/Surrey area. Service was friendly but could be more attentive. We didn't have the sashimi but one of the other tables did, big pieces and looked good. We recommend giving it a try.“

“The sushi is the freshest you will get anywhere and their portions are generous while the price is very reasonable. We've been three times lately and it's always great. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall type, so not much they can do to make it glamourous, but it is so worthwhile.
Parking: Its at the edge of a mall so lots of parking, or if you live in Newton Village, very walkable.“

“Just had lunch today and while the food was pretty good, I can’t say much for our server. It would appear that she has decided that everyone she waits on must pay her a tip. We had left the restaurant and walking to our car when she followed us outside and questioned about her service. What she was inquiring about was her tip that she felt she was entitled to! After informing her the tip was on the table she immediately turned around and left without offering a thank you. What the hell?“

“I ordered omakase nigiri, mackerel and eel hako sushi, black cod saikyo yaki, and agedashi-tofu to takeout for our anniversary dinner. All of them are amazing! Especially, mackerel hako sushi was the best of all mackerel that I ate in Canada. Not only the fish, sushi rice was so good! Thanks to these great foods, we could spend the great anniversary! If you are looking for the real Japanese amazing sushi, I strongly recommend Yugafu!“

“Sushi Monster is my go-to spot for sushi takeout! The service is always friendly, the prices are fantastic, and the food is consistent - average and good quality for what you pay. Tip: make sure to call a few hours ahead to schedule your pickup, especially during busy times, as walk-ins may face long wait times. A solid choice for delicious and affordable sushi to take home and enjoy with friends and family.“

“Living up in embassy rich Ottawa during the early 80s I had my choice of places to eat and new foods to try. My introduction to sushi came during this time - back when this was sitting at the sushi bar, talking with the chef, trying new combinations and stopping well past the point of full. On a business trip to Vancouver I had the urge late one evening and asked a likely local for a close sushi bar would be found - this before every street corner had two sushi shops like today. After passing a quiz (seriously) to see if I knew what sushi was I was led through alleys and back streets to a basement restaurant where I demographically stood apart. By far some of the best I had eaten to that point.
Fast forward 40 years, I now live out west and my diet has morphed to vegetarian over the years, but I still go for the seaweed wrapped tasty rice treats. There is much vegetarian sushi available and Aka Sushi delivers some of the best.
I've eaten sushi all over the Lower Mainland and down the coast to San Jose, but when in town I keep coming back to Aka. The host is such a friendly man, always with a tea pot to fill my cup and a smile of recognition when my family comes in.
From miso, to vegetable Tempura, to gyoza, to the classics like kappa maki, nothing fails to impress and make the family happy. New items (well, new since 1981 ....) such as avocado rolls and vegetarian caterpillars have rounded out the options for vegetarians nicely and we always fill up before we make it through the menu.
Aka Sushi is highly recommended - I have dined in many times, and ordered take out many more with every time (in or take-away) being wonderful. I will return many more times, and hope this encourages others to give it a try - you will not regret it.“

“Chicken teriyaki is a 5 star dish. Chicken is tender and juicy. The rest are pretty average. The prawn tempura has a strong yam taste likely because of the oil they use. The Langley lover roll the waitress recommended is overly greasy and is a 2 star at best“

“We(family) went there for dinner for the first time last week. For us leaving this review was quite easy. Food was tasty. Service was very prompt and fast. The portions were great and price was affordable and for me great for the portion and taste they served. The place and seating looks a bit worn but it was neat although cold air was coming through the heating vents for quite some time when they switched on the heater that kept us cold for longer than expected. Will definitely come back again to try other dishes. BTW I never thought my fav friend rice will be from a Japanese restaurant. I liked it. Teriyaki beef and Donburi was good too.“

“This place is a staple for sushi this side of fraser valley. It's easily the best sushi in fleetwood and is always consistent in freshness of ingredients, quality of food presentation and flavor, and is an all around gem and pleasure to be here.
The trays are on point, and the Aburi, Sashimi and appies are unrivaled. Coming to Tobiko sushi feels like coming home in no small way. Staff and chefs are always courteous and welcoming. Love this place!!“

“I recently had lunch at Sushico Japanese Restaurant, and the experience left a genuinely positive impression on me. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming — not noisy, not rushed, just comfortable enough to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff greeted me right away, and there was this calm, friendly energy that instantly set the tone for the visit.
What I appreciated most was how smoothly everything went. The service was steady and attentive without being over the top. They checked in at the right moments, refilled what was needed, and made sure I had everything without me even having to ask. It’s the kind of service that makes the whole experience feel natural and thoughtful, not forced.
The food itself really surprised me in the best way. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and prepared with care. Sometimes lunch spots can be inconsistent, but here I felt like the quality was steady from the first bite to the last. The textures were right, the flavours felt clean and well-matched, and nothing tasted rushed or overly heavy. Even the presentation had that little extra attention that makes you appreciate the meal more.
The overall vibe of the restaurant made it easy to enjoy my time there. It’s clean, organized, and comfortable — perfect for a quick lunch or even a slower, relaxed one. After this visit, I can say I’d definitely return. Sushico gave me the kind of experience where you walk out feeling satisfied, not only because the food was good, but because the whole visit felt easy, pleasant, and well put together.“
