“Excited to experience dim sum at night! That's the best part about this place. Dim sum anytime. This is one of their newest location. We're so glad we came here. Parking was insane but we got lucky and parked by a nearby lot. We even met the owner Michael. What a nice man! Two of my friends have tried their SF location so they already knew what to order. Lucky me! Everything was mouth watering delicious. The wait outside was not long at all and we came early by 6 pm. There's 2 levels of seatings and I highly suggest to ask for the upper floor seating. Much cooler up there on a warm day/night. The servers were so nice. I definitely remember William. Checked on us often and made sure we enjoyed our meal. We had 7 dim sum selections and there was plenty for the 3 of us. We even had a mini to go box at the end. The price is $$. I can't wait to go back here again.“
“If you like the predecessor of 8th St Cafe, called D&A cafe at the corner of Webster st cross 7th st 20 years ago, you would love this Hay Yue restaurant.I came for dinner today. The dishes are $20-$25 each, not too bad considering minimum wage is $16 an hour. If you want to enter value mode, you can get $39.99 for 3 dishes in smaller portions. The bamboo lamb brisket in clay pot is as delicious as you would expect. The one in my photo is a small portion version. A lot of lamb, very generous.Scrambled egg with prawns is a Hong Kong classic dish and this restaurant cooked it very well. The eggs are creamy as it should be. You can compare it with scrambled egg with bitter melons, which is another style that cooked the eggs a bit more. I like the creamy one more. This restaurant cooked these two dishes in two different styles that they should be, very good job here.If you like spicy food, you can give sichuan stir-fried chicken a try. It is surprisingly spicy enough to taste good. They have some customizations for clay pot rice which are not shown in the menu. For example, we can order a larger size of chicken pot rice with added preserved meat. I am not fond of pot rice in general, but they are very popular in this restaurant. People started ordering them at around 10:30 am!You will not be disappointed with the milk tea with condensed milk as well.Hay Yue restaurant is definitely a strong character in chinatown that you should put it on top of your taste menu, especially now other good ones were folded or gone.“

“I've been going here for a number of years. Even before the pandemic. The food has been consistently good, with the exception of the height of the pandemic.
On other platforms, this place isn't rated high however this place for dim sum is always packed. This says wonders about the other sites.
Today's visit for dim sum was just like the other times. Place was packed and there was a wait of 20 mins. The service was okay and the food was good. Parking wasn't an issue as there were plenty.
This is a go-to spot for dim sum for sure.“

“Serving absolutely hot, fresh and oversized dim sum of all kinds, this place, arguably in the middle of nowhere, (at least to me) in Windsor Square in San Lorenzo, serves up the best dim sum I've had in the East Bay hands down! The Har Gao (shrimp) was gigantic, fresh tender and tasty, and the Shu Mai (pork) was almost as big as my fist, the pan fried pork buns Char siu buns) were off the chart delicious, and the bean paste ball was crispy and hot.
This is just a whole other level of dim sum quality in the East Bay and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Most people are getting takeout but there are a couple of little tables there in case you want to eat on site which I did.“

“It’s been ages since we’ve been here when it was King Kong. It isn’t as buzzing as before and in fact they’re much quieter. But that’s perfect for us, came in for a late lunch on a Saturday and there were only a couple other tables. So we got seated and served right away! Can’t find that at most good dim sum joints.Got the e-noodles with seafood in XO sauce as the main dish, and some dim sum dishes like the shrimp dumplings, durian puff, bean curd wrap etc. All came out quickly and were very good!Parking is tricky as there’s only the front lot on this stretch of the street. So at peak hours you might have to park a couple blocks away or in the nearby neighborhood. Still a good option and we’ll come back soon!“

“Took family for Dim Sum and enjoyed our lunch. We ordered “Fu-Jian” fried rice, Siu-Mai, Ha-Gao (Shrimp dumpling), chicken feet, steamed fish ball, BBQ buns & “Sa-Wong”. All food are delicious, tasty, fresh & hot. We loved the Sa-Wong as it is Chinese donut with custard inside. Also, we loved the quality of tea provided which is authentic and best around Bay Area among restaurant.“

“Great option whether you want a quick snack on the way to class or a whole picnic to enjoy on campus. Vegan options are clearly labeled on the menu. Everything is hot and fresh. I ordered the mushroom scallion buns and the red bean sesame balls, and they threw in some fried vegetable dumplings for free.
I'd also recommend the taro buns for a sweet snack. They go great with a cup of coffee“

“Perfect place to grab satiating lunch and dinner when on-the-go AND on-a-budget. Discovered this place on a trip and have been coming back ever since. Communication can be quite tricky but you can also point out what you want and they’re very generous with their portions. The food is really good from the fried chicken/pork to the rice, noodles, vegetable stir fry, shrimp, etc. The lines can be long during lunch rush but they work to get you in & out as quickly as possible“

“This is the best place for steamed bun in Oakland Chinatown! My family and I have been going here for many years and we have always enjoyed their pork buns, "big" buns (contains egg, chicken, seasoned pork, and Chinese sausage), cabbage & pork buns, and custard buns. For us, their steamed bread products are really what shine here, the bread is fluffy & soft without being too sweet or dry and the fillings are well-seasoned, fresh, and plentiful. Yummy Dim Sum was closed for a while for remodeling and our family had to try other places in Chinatown for steamed buns and all the others were not even close to the quality of this place. After remodeling, their prices were raised a bit (around $1 to $1.50 per item), but their prices are still very affordable and honestly, I don't think any small shops in the Bay Area can survive charging any less than they do at the moment. Furthermore, the shopkeepers are very nice and patient when we go there, which is always a nice plus for to-go shops such as this. Given they are one of the last good steamed bun places left in Oakland, my family & I are more than happy to support them when we can and would highly recommend you give them a try as well!“

“Excellent food and service. Very nice and the food was delicious, savory, and properly spicy. The vegetarian options are also really nice and very flavorful. There’s something for everyone here!
The food is very authentic, so don’t order anything spicy if you can’t handle a lot of spice!
Vegetarian options: Cold sesame noodle, tomato egg noodles, veggie chow mien, and numerous veggie appetizers and a vegetarian section for regular dishes with tofu and veggies.“

“Good authentic Chinese food at a reasonable price. This place was very close to the hotel I was staying at and seeing that it was not the usual cheap Chinese, I decided to try it out. I ordered the beef rice noodle roll and a shrimp wonton noodle soup. The noodle soup was okay. I enjoyed it but it was a bit bland. The beef rice noodle roll was very good. In addition to the sauce on the roll, the beef was also marinated and nicely seasoned. Service was quick for ordering and for the food delivery. If I was in the area again, I would definitely come back.“
“Super duper tasty, oh so magically yummy dim sum for very good prices. Food is always fresh and buns are always warm. Large portions too! The ladies behind the counter don’t always understand English but we make it work and we’re always happy to see each other. They accept Venmo now if you don’t have cash on hand.“

“I really like the food and service from here. I usually get the chicken fried rice, which is consistently good. The packaging is reusable which is amazing, and they are always super nice when i come in, letting me know how long until my food is ready (i order online) which is usually earlier than what is said online. The hot sauce is absolutely delicious also!!“

“My sister-in-law recommended Big Dish to me. It is located in the heartvof Oakland Chinatown, across the street from the East West Bank.Specialties: Roast duck, chicken, pork, bbq pork, assortment of dim sum pastries. Menu board of the dim sum is mounted on the wall. Trays of pastries are in their display case.Food is mainly for take out. There are a few tables and chairs for dining indoors.Purpose of visit: to buy the chicken cage pastries (gai loong). They do sell out fast because it is a very popular item among us elderly Chinese people. The cost for 6 of them is $6.60. I have also purchased 3 sesame balls and 3 savory dumplings.“

“The roast duck, the roast pork, the seafood and the noodles, were all superlative. It was nice to be able to order a little dim sum as appetizers, and it is great dim sum. The new chairs with covers, the new matching teacups, plates and tea pots, are great. And the view is spectacular. Mt. Tamalpais, Angel Island, Treasure Island, Coit Tower, the SF skyline, the Bay Bridge, and right in the center, the Golden Gate Bridge. Perfect place to take visitors and San Franciscans. Or have a drink and an appetizer in the bar, just to enjoy the view.“
