“My new favorite spot! I love coming here during the day when it’s quiet to read a book or catch up with a friend. The staff are really kind and always make the best recommendations. They’re knowledgeable but not pretentious at all which is really refreshing. The wine itself is really good and reasonably priced, they have a couple more expensive options but I usually order the $13 sparkling rose and it’s everything you want a sparkling rose to be.“

“Walk 10 minutes from MacArthur BART and you’ll find paradise in the form of a wine bar. Zach (head chef) and Emilio (line cook) are formerly of Verjus in San Francisco, and let’s just say we followed them across the bridge for a reason. Their expertise and attention to detail are evident in every bite — or sip! ;) On top of this, the service is impeccable. Our waiter, Nico, was a real gem! Thank God he moved from SoCal! Anyways, don’t take my word for it… you’ll just have to try this place for yourself!“

“My daughter took me and the hubby here for our Thanksgiving celebration since she couldn't come home (Sac) for actual Thanksgiving, we went to her. This was a night I won't soon forget! Having a nice meal with our daughter was a treat, the service was amazing and the food....OMG! Every bite of every dish I tasted was so so delicious! I can't get the butternut soup out of my head it was THAT good! We all ordered different food & shared bites with one another. This night was so enjoyable! Thank you, Sis & Thank you Mama Oakland!“
“Thrilled to share a five-star review for Henry, Kylie Ann and Alta Vina. I've been a customer here since they opened in June 2025, and I'm so impressed by the thought, care and love that have gone into building this business in its first year.
Henry is a wine expert who's always thinking of how to enhance the space, elevate the experience and refine the selection of wines he serves. His focus on finding the best small batch wines from California (Alta and Baja!) is laser-sharp and is matched only by his focus on finding new, meaningful, fun ways to bring in new customers and regulars alike.
Henry and the whole team are so welcoming to everyone who comes in the door. My partner, my dog and I always feel at home when we stop by.
Highly recommended.“

“Delicious cider. Tons of choices on draft you’re sure to find something you like from classic single varietal ciders to creative cider that blends fruit and flower/spice flavors.
Great cider club too. Always look forward to pickup day!“

“This is a lovely little wine bar! Excellent selection, and the owner was kind enough to put together a little charcuterie board for one person (although the normal size serves 2-3).
I highly recommend stopping by for a glass and a nibble if you’re shopping in the area - very relaxing space.“

Inviting atmosphere, friendly owner, a thoughtfully curated collection of wines for sale. And a charming place for an afternoon glass of rosé and savory Brazilian pastries.“

“My wife and I host many events there, for singles and everybody else to mingle! Popcorn Machine in the corner of the bar is a nice touch. The place is just a stones throw from UC Berkely but it has a chill cocktail lounge asthetic. Also it is pet friendly! Bring the frenchie and enjoy a drink with some popcorn!“

“I would have given the food five stars, but unfortunately, my chicken curry patty was still cold in the center. The first few bites were warm and delicious, so I’d just recommend the staff heating the patties a little longer. Coffee and atmosphere were all great! I’ll definitely give them another try.“
“1) Wine was so good and service was excellent. They are so nice here and passionate about their craft!2) If you buy a two bottles then a tasting flight is free. Would recommended starting with a flight and using that to pick which bottles to get.3) After we bought two bottles, we decided to cork one on the spot, and they waived the corking fee, very kindly of them. Thanks for a great experience!“

“My husband and I were recently recommended to try Dolly’s restaurant and we’re so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the whole experience felt relaxed and welcoming. The hosts and owners were incredibly warm and friendly.
The food was delicious. We loved the cheese wheel pasta, the bread and tomato salad, and they also had a really good wine selection. As a small business owner myself, I always appreciate supporting local family-owned spots that truly care about good food and good service. Dolly’s is definitely one of those places. We’ll absolutely be back.“

“Wow, unbelievably delicious, and a beautiful, calm vibe, too! A wide selection of amazing-looking salads to mix and match; I got one with figs, fennel, and goat cheese and one with sweet potatoes and roasted tomatoes, and both were super-good. The salads come with rice and arugula, and you can add extra proteins if you want. Very enjoyable — I’ll be back!“

“Wow not only did these bagels look amazing they were also hella delicious. Got half peaches and cream on a regular bagel and half of the “summer girl” on an everything bagel. The bagels were perfectly chewy and the flavors of the bagels were both amazing, do think I liked the savory one better (smth about the grated tomato and the burrata)!
Would 100% come back to try other flavors! Also there is a couple of seating both indoors and outdoors“

“😀First visit here after years of walking past it. The veggie combo and meat combo platters were among the best I've had at Berkeley and Oakland's many great Ethiopian restaurants. Service was very fast and friendly and outdoor back-patio was peaceful. I will be back soon and often.“

“Some of the best happy hour oysters I’ve EVER had in the bay! Shucked perfectly, no stray shell bits or dodgy looking insides, and I love that it comes with real horseradish. I’ll be back just for these, but the other food and drinks we got were just as excellent.“

“This spot is a lot more informal and hipster than I thought. I wanted a cozy pub-type place with a comfy chair or couch where I could drink a beer and read a book and this fits the bill. I know it's a wine bar but as I'm not really a wine drinker I can't comment on the selections but I'm sure they're fine. Plus they play records on a mostly vintage hi-fi the whole time.
If you like wine, go here. They also have cheese and charcuterie plates and olives etc.
Groovy places like this are pretty rare on this otherwise fairly bleak part of San Pablo Ave. A welcome addition. Cheers!“

“Delicious oysters are available for $1.00 ea with the purchase of a bottom of wine or champagne. Good burgers, good vibes, friendly staff, and relatively easy street parking; there is also a parking garage nearby. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars for atmosphere is that it has high ceilings, and probably would have been loud if it were crowded.“

“I’ve been wanting to come here for a while, and I’m so glad I finally made it. The service was excellent on Sunday. The food was good overall, but I could taste that the potatoes had been cooked in overused frying oil. The Brussels sprouts were our favorite dish. We ordered six tapas to share among three people, and it was more than enough—we left feeling full.“

“Amazing cozy little spot. I will say I'm not a huge natural wine fan but still found a few tasty sips here. My natural wine friends really enjoyed it. The charcuterie and bottle selection were incredible. We came early so it wasn't busy at all and really enjoyed the space. Thanks!“

“The cutest little coffee shop attached to the Claremont. The service was impeccable. Attentive, kind, friendly, and warm. The drinks were delicious. Plenty of little snacks for hungry mouths. Games for playing. My wife would get a soy cappuccino in a ceramic mug every morning. I'd get a hot tea with honey, and a chai with almond milk later. Prices were reasonable compared to how much shops nowadays. Excellent shop! Highly recommended!!“

“My experience at Passione Caffè in their gorgeous two-story, well-decorated café at 91 Shattuck Square was simply marvelous. The staff was friendly, quick, and accommodating and the food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I highly recommend Passione Caffè to those looking for a quick and yummy lunch (or breakfast/brunch everyday), to snack and study, or for an authentic Italian coffee. Don’t miss out on the great happy hour/aperativo deals between 4-7PM! It almost goes without mentioning, but Passione Caffè is absolutely true to its slogan: “A corner of Italy in Berkeley.” From the food and drink to the atmosphere and the service, this is the only truly Italian café I have found in Berkeley! And that comes from over a year of experience living and traveling in Italy! Besides the beautiful architecture and interior design of Passione Caffè—not to mention its convenient location next to Downtown Berkeley BART—I would like to point out some highlights on the menu. The pastas are all made with homemade, organic noodles and made-to-order sauces. The pasta dishes are so fresh and authentic! The spaghetti with meatballs, their only Americanized dish, is to die for! The pizzas also are also made with home-made dough and gluten-free options are offered. Try one with fresh prosciutto, mozzarella, and arugula! The fresh panini with Italian meats and cheeses round out the lunch menu. It is possible to have a filling lunch for $7-15, which is definitely reasonably priced by Berkeley standards! A serious final highlight was the artisanal gelato, made in-house by the Italian co-owner, Eleanora Cercatore. There are 12 flavors, weekly made with gluten-free options, that are displayed on a beautiful rotating wheel. The gelato is spectacularly tasty—I cannot recommend it highly enough! For your time, money, and fine Italian bites and drinks, I cannot recommend a Berkeley café more highly than Passione Caffè! Please pay them a visit soon—you won’t be disappointed!“
