“Great drinks, cider, and decent selection of tequila! Hearty fried chips will stand up to their very fresh guacamole and spicy salsa. Our pork taco was cute on its on wooden serving board, the salad with chicken is always generous, but on our most recent visit, the meats were dry and bland. Better next time, I'm sure. Service is friendly and easy going, atmosphere is super casual. Good spot for a quick bite or time out with friends and family.“

Sante Adairius Rustic Ales Oakland Arbor Brewpubs •
460 8th St, Oakland - 6.1 miles

“I haven't been here for many years. It's always been a Belgian beer bar. I'm not sure when Sante Adairius took it over but they've pretty much kept it the same as it was, in a good way. As I tend to drink IPA's, I was happy that they also had some on the menu. I tried the Left and Leaning, a non hazy that I really enjoyed. My friend had a very properly poured St. Bernardus (see photo). The service was great. Also on hand is a lovely, friendly Irish Setter. It was very fun when he visited our table. There's a nice $5 parking lot next door with an attendant. This alone would bring me back :)“

Absinthe is an institution, it mimics a Parisian bistro and does it well, while nodding to the local farms and fisheries. Fresh oysters and Dungeness Crab were on the menu. Service provided by a man of a certain age with old world manors and a California sense of humor was attentive without being cloying. We will continue to enjoy Absinthe when we can reserve a table.“

Oakland United Beerworks Brewery • $$

“My favorite brewery in Oakland and it’s not even close. Large and diverse selection of beers such as IPA’s, malty ( schwarzbier, dopplebock, brown ale, etc), and light beers. the inside can be kind of tight but they have plenty of outdoor seating and the upstairs which has more seating and an entertainment area for kids. The customer service and the owners are always good people and there is food trucks always outside when I’m there which are quality as well. The only thing I can recommend is to watch your cars in the area. It’s still Oakland but I have yet to see a break in of my car or others but I would take valuables out. Other then that come visit this brewery, enjoy the amazing beers and good people.“

Liquid Gold Beer Bar • $$
1040 Hyde St, San Francisco - 9.31 miles

“Liquid Gold is a perfect name for this beer spot. How else can you describe the golden elixir's on tap? If you are a beer person, you will leave this place happy. And I would't say you have to be a certain kind of beer person (that is, ipa, sour, etc.) Different styles are fairly well represented across many excellent local craft breweries. I really like how LG offers a very small pour option for most beers, which allows me to try a lot more without both the cost and getting too toasty. But I believe they also offer growler options, which is super convenient (especially if you're close by, which alas I am not.) Also, they have a pretty big cooler with cans, so if you need more options to bring home you're very covered. Finally, they don't serve food but I have brought snacks, etc. inside (Nourish cafe is just a few doors down, hint hint.) Enjoy a sandwich in a low-key, relaxing joint, with plenty of beer to keep your thirst quenched.“

They have a good selection of their own brewed beers ($6 per pint) and then they also have a great variety of local beers from other craft brewers in the area which go for $8-10 per pint. They also have some wines but no liquor license. You can get a burger or fries from Lovely's (which always has a line!) and eat it here. “The 4 of us started with pikilia, a nice sampling of the mezethes, which were delicious. It would have been easier if we hadn't had to cut most items in half so that each of us could have a sample of each item. (Perhaps the plate could be sized and ordered "for 2, for 3, for 4," etc.) The beyti was beautiful and tasted wonderful. Also fabulous were the kotopoulo brochettes, souzoukaklia, and sultani. We had room to share the chocolate dome and the salted caramel gelato. We loved the food, and our server was delightful. Although the place is small, there was only one bartender and one server that Monday night; we had to request attention from time to time. The door also tended to remain open, which allowed cold air, cigarette smoke, and truck exhaust to infiltrate. We did shut the door several times, but next time we'll ask to be seated in the back. We'll definitely return - often!“

The Beer Hall Bar • $
1 Polk St, San Francisco - 10.05 miles

“The Beer Hall is a sweet little hole-in-the wall joint with a very nice draft beer list and just enough wines (6 when we visited) to keep wine drinkers happy. They have a short list of nosh-ables to provide a quick bite before a show in the Civic Center area. Highly recommended.“

“At first glance you think this place is kitsch made real (and it is) but the food is original and good and the drinks are a delight. Yes, it's kitschy, but it's moved past that into "classic".Parking: Take a Lyft! Parking is terrible.“

“One of the most unique cafes in Berkeley, worth a visit for sure! Nice working atmosphere, decent snack and small bite selection, solid drinks and friendly and efficient service. Love the board games theme and concept of the cafe and hope to have the time to try it out one day. Seems to have a strong community and would definitely come back with friends later on. Honey lavender latte is very nice. Some of the drink flavors are more subtle but the baristas are very friendly and were happy to add more and adjust to your preferences.“

“I come up from San Jose to this place all the time. Definitely a spot worth visiting when in the area. The ambiance is chill, everyone is friendly. The drinks are constantly rotating and are top notch. Above all there's the awesome and amazing Bob: super friendly, really knows his stuff and makes the best drinks known to man. Highly recommended“

“Stopped by midweek and this place did not disappoint. Easy ordering via phone, prompt service, and delicious food. We got the Blue Heat 50/50 style and the Ramen 50/50 plus a strawberry boba. Both hot dogs were perfect with the right amount of cheese pull and loaded with flavor. We also got the Sriracha mayo which I highly recommend. Boba with fantastic; not too sweet with good flavor and the right amount of chew texture.“
