“Perfect date night spot! Cocktails are excellent (Stargazer and Mariposa were my faves! Nor’easter was interesting and different and delicious) Staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. Pricey and small portions, but everything was delectable.“
“Hands down the best breakfast biscuits I've had. I stop here every single time I'm in l.a. I finally tried something new and ordered the ADB Loco Motto, and it didn't disappoint. The drinks were strong and good. Get there early because it's a neighborhood favorite and fills up fast. The space is cozy, and parking is very limited.Parking: I only saw metered street parking, and there weren't a lot of spots available. You may have to park down the street and walk down to the restaurant.“
“A beautiful date night spot where you can sit beneath string lights nestled in an alleyway, listening to live music (plus, they have outdoor heaters!). Plates are tapas style and the bar is full, with an advantage for mezcal enthusiasts. Bonus- The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They recommended some drinks for us to try and gave us some suggestions on the entrees. The drinks were great and we recommend the sea bass! Nice atmosphere with good service and lots of mezcal.“
“Cute little bar in the neighborhood! As a fellow yelper said, a great place to do before going "out out" if you know what that means. Neat, modern, kinda dark, good mix of people. Come for the drinks, stay for the interesting people you might meet. This unassuming bar was a pleasant surprise and I'd come back again.“
“Hidden away in the city of Los Angeles is this amazing bar that serves one of the tastiest omakase. Entering the bar, you see a bar top that seats approx 10-12 people, with a open kitchen vibe. My partner and I had a great time. The Sunday crew was very nice and attentive, engaging with the customers and making things fun! The selection of fish was amazing, definitely a different experience compared to other omakase establishments I've been to.Parking was very easy since they provided easy simple instructions on their website :). Will definitely visit again on a Sunday ??Parking: Easy to access garage and the elevator close by. Very nice :)“
“Went here for the first time in a while, bought a bunch of drinks for my rugby teammates and even though they never paid me back, I still had a great time. The old fashioned was really good, service was great, the inside looks amazing. 10/10 would let my teammates mooch off here me again.“
“The church-turned-restaurant has a clear sky above, creating a lazy and comfortable environment. The service staff kindly introduced the menu of the day. California cuisine is a fusion of Asian and Western food characteristics. The complimentary bread is very similar to Asian double cheese bread, and the cheese taste is very fragrant. Strawberries & burrata cheese is like a variation of the classic Italian mozzarella cheese and tomato salad. It is quite beautiful and delicious. The Day Boat Scallops have a crispy topping and a tender center. It has a rich texture and is paired with spiced pumpkin puree, caramelized carrots and vegetables. , gooseberry, with diverse and harmonious flavors. Next time I’m in Los Angeles, I want to try other interesting meals!“
“Our first time to this beautiful restaurant . We tried the tasting menu! WOW was it amazing. Loved learning about the wines. Had the featured drink of the week by Finn. loved it. It was garnished with a petite flower. My only regret is I got full and couldn't eat it all. Thank you to Matt our server for a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back. The lobster pie was so creamy and delicious. The steak was so flavorful and tender.“
“One of the meals I’ve had. The whipped feta was a dream with maybe my favorite pita I’ve tasted. Carrots were perfect. Sweet potatoes were delicious but definitely have a kick if you’re sensitive to spice. Steak frites were best fries I’ve ever had. Drinks were strong and so tasty. Can’t wait to go back“
“This place is excellent. Every dish we tried was good, but the standouts for me were the clam toast and crispy potatoes. The bread for the toast was perfect and the potatoes were just the right amount of fluffiness on the inside and crispy outside. My mouth is watering just writing this. The trout was worth getting as well. I will definitely be back to try more dishes.“
“I made a Resy reservation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Street parking was accessible and convenient a few steps away from the location. Once we walked in, I was greeted by first name by the host behind the bar who directed us to follow Lisa, our server, to our table for two in the garden patio. Once seated, she asked if we'd like to turn on the heated lamp, which we appreciated. We ordered the Hunan BBQ Pork Ribs (so meaty and smoky), Chilled Sesame Peanut Noodles (which my wife commented would be an ideal dish during a warm summer night), Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi (served on a toasted, pillowy brioche bun), paired with a side of the Shoestring Fries. Lastly we enjoyed an unexpected gift from the kitchen - Shanghai Triple Onion Noodles, which was a warm dish in contrast to the other cold noodles. As a thoughtful gesture, the bartender, offered us two glasses of champagne to acknowledge our occasion. To cap off our unforgettable meal, we ordered the Hochija Tres Leches and Honeymoon Bread Pudding. The perfect conclusion to a delicious and well-thought out dinner. For a location with a history dating back to the prohibition era (informed by Lisa), I'm glad to see it's continuing it's life as a bar with an innovative kitchen. As I mentioned last night, the dinner was great but the service was even better! Thank you for making our anniversary dinner memorable :)“
“Nick's always delivers great food at reasonable prices. My wife had the seafood cioppino with was good but it didn't have any scallops or crabs in it. The broth had a lot of cooked tomatoes. I had the meatloaf which was very good. Service was great and the sour dow bread is the best.“
“It's been some years since I last dined at Shiro, and I was so delighted that it has fully maintained its superlative status as a first rate restaurant experience on every level. Shiro offers casually elegant dining in a handsome, intimate and stylish storefront in a historic district in South Pasadena. The French-Asian menu offers amazing creations and flavors that will entice and satisfy. My husband had an appetizer consisting of the plumpest, most tasty pan-fried oysters imaginable, as well as a wonderfully seasoned uni pasta. I had sea bass in a rich sauce over Japanese eggplant. The service is impeccable, from the initial greeting and seating to the server and helpers. It is friendly, caring and professional. We will certainly not wait years until our next visit.“
“Super cool bar I would have never found on my own. Met some friends here the other weekend. Good cocktails, and they serve food too. Was here on a Saturday night at ~10pm. The crowd was good, it was filled enough, but still able to get seats at the bar. Liked it so much, came back again the next night!“
“Met Anderson Paak the last time I was here, but I’d already dubbed this place my favorite local spot long before I danced with my idol under the disco ball.Strictly vinyl. Great cocktail menu.Only negative: their digital branding needs work. Kinda wish they’d hire me to curate their social media. ?“
“We went on Saturday night around 9pm, cocktails were outstanding!! Delicious and balanced! Great prices and there were 2 people attending the whole place but it was not too crowded, we ordered fries with steak and the meat was very soft, we'll definitely come back , lots of street parking!“
“My girlfriend and I went to our second Valentine's dinner here last week. Not many places can pull off Valentines Day like Bistro 45 does. Everything came out timely and up to their usual standards. Our favorite waiter Mehdi treated us like family. This is the most consistent restaurant we've ever eaten at. Thank you guys so much! Rick and Linda“
“I've been to Skaf's a couple of times now. As many reviewers note, the cheese roll is a must get if you love and respect yourself and your happiness. Queso fresco and feta fried in the crispiest wrapper is a match made in heaven.Grape leaves are also a wonderful appetizer, especially if you're like me and could accidentally put away 12 of this if not paying attention.I often find falafel to be disappointing in restaurants and much better homemade, but Skaf's falafel would give even the best homemade falafel a run for its money. The texture is exactly how it should be - crisp, crunchy exterior with a soft (but not gummy) interior. The falafel is also jam packed with flavor and surrounded by insanely well executed tabbouleh (perfectly seasoned), cabbage salad, hummus, and babaganouj. Their wraps are solid as well, but the veggie combo plate is where it's at!Lebanese coffee on the side on a rainy day at Skaf's. Kindest servers as well“
“I celebrated my birthday this weekend at The Famous, Bianca one of the bartenders was amazing.! Great customer service.! Including the owner, as I planned my party he communicated with me And made sure everything was good. This was my first time. I am definitely going back highly recommend this place.“
“Great Pan Roast. The dining room has 40 seats, a bar, or sit at the chefs counter to watch the steam kettle chefs cook your food without having to go to a Palace train station in Vegas. Plus, we didn't have a wait on Sunday at 3pm.Parking: Plenty of parking, plus there's an underground lot.“
“One of my new favorite bars in LA!! Came here after attempting to eat quarter sheets pizza, and it did not disappoint. Bartender was friendly and great at memorizing orders. Ambiance was friendly and warm all around. Loved that their drinks are different, with latin influences which fit the atmosphere. These people deserved their spot in the top 22 best bars in LA“
“5⭐ specifically for the Boon Boon Noodle - Pork. Perfect sauce, perfect texture, absolutely nothing to complain about. Solid 4⭐ for Chicken rice 2.0.Not sure if the tea ceremony was worth it, but it's fun to do it once. I actually enjoyed their regular tea more. The Aged pear was a fun one.Cute space, accommodating staff, and you can make reservations with Google assistant, which is great for busy (or lazy, like me) people ?.“
“Historical Pasadena restaurant that some people forget about. I hadn’t been here for years until this evening. I’d give 5 stars, but my pork chop was dry and little overcooked. Everything else was wonderful, including the drinks. It’s very intimate inside, but as the restaurant fills up it gets quite loud. The patio is covered and heated, but you may find yourself having to talk over the nearby tables or road noise. Valet parking only, $8 at the time of this review. There is street parking available on Fair Oaks though.“
“I really enjoyed dining at Edendale. The beer selection was above-average, the food top-notch, and the service was outstanding. Our server, I believe her name was Missy, was efficient, friendly, and, dare I say, playfully flirtatious. Her charm made this meal memorable in just about every way. I'll be sure to visit Edendale when I'm in this part of town again.“
“This place was amazing. We came it with a group of 10, and we got set up with a table right away. They got our orders quickly, and then appetizers and food came out just as quick. However, the food was probably the best Korean fried chicken I have had in a long time. The sauce flavors were delicious, chicken was crunchy. Definitely have to try Korean BBQ , Lemon Pepper (dry), and the Sweet Chili Wings. Even the Bulgogi Pizza was great. Great little hole in the wall spot. Will have to come backWheelchair accessibility: It's a dive in location off the strip of the downtown location. Entrance is level with sidewalk, so wheelchair can roll right it, and there are a couple tables that can be set up with wheelchair seating. I can not vouch for the restroom as I did not check.“
“71Above is second to none. The greatest view in Los Angeles, the most professionally-prepared and exquisite-tasting food in Los Angeles (year-round, menu changes slightly every season if the year), and the only thing better than the food is the service by a warm, professional, knowledgeable, and attentive staff. The portions are rich taste and in aesthetic value, bountiful and captivating in flavor and presentation, and are a good size and not disappointing like other high-end restaurants where you're served foam on half a pea and a grape stem on the left of the plate only to be charged $400 for "the chef's vision" (boo) that in reality are neither aesthetically pleasing nor does it stimulate any part of the palate in any memorable way. Yes, restaurant on Melrose, you know who you are and the others, too. 71Above is NOT that kind of place and is, indeed, a beautiful and fulfilling dining experience. Have dined there many times and is our go-to.71Above is one of the only restaurants that serves *actual* and true A5 Wagyu prepared by truly professional chefs that understand the care and attention-to-detail this cut merits. Also home of the best Old-fashioned (called The Downtown here). This is a MUST experience. Make reservations in advance. Local or tourist, it is simply 'cannot miss'. New York has Le Bernadine, LA has 71Above. Best in LA.“

“Pasadena and downtown this last fortnight. Nostagic deliciousness @parkwaygrill, peerless steaks. Returning there for the fourth time - our first visit was in 1994. Last night we enjoyed @majordomola . Koreanish food, at it's best generous and full flavoured. Standouts include the pork shoulder, duck confit rice and the flambe(d) doughnuts.Next time we'll try their signature rib dish too. Take an appetite and lots of family. Also loved Houstons. Beautiful restaurant with signature French dip sandwich @houstonsrestaurants“
“I recently moved to the area and this was our first time at The Proper Restaurant but it most certainly won't be our last. Everything ... and I mean everything was excellent! I started out with the Proper Clover Club cocktail and it was so refreshing and delicious. My husband and I then shared the white chicken chili which was equally delicious. For our entrees, my husband ordered the miso salmon which was out of this world and I got the chicken piccata. The chicken was cooked perfectly, lightly breaded and the pasta was tossed in a wonderful lemonny piccata. I also had a Malbec which was so smooth, I wanted to order the whole bottle (but alas, I did not). And since everything else was so good, we couldn't leave without ordering dessert -- the warm butter toffee cake. My mouth is still watering thinking about it. I can't wait to go back to The Proper Restaurant!“
“I once had a bad experience at the Burbank location. However this place seems to have gotten their act together. The food was fine a little small but fine. But the drinks, drink menu and bartenders were impressive. Attentive bartenders despite the ample size of this place. Knowledgeable too. I had 2 penicillins and a Hemingway daiquiri. My associate had a sidecar bourbon and wine. I've had drinks at the bar and outside where the bartenders open up a window and you are served from the outside. Pretty cool“
“Great spot to go with friends for lunch or to take the kids on the weekend. They have a great front patio and full bar, a back room with TVs and games for kids and a back patio that's more private. I've never hosted an event here, but seems like a great spot for a birthday party with friends on a Saturday or Sunday - Margs and tacos and lots of space for socializing. Also very kid friendly! They have a great kids menu with options for picky eaters, frozen lemonade etc. Recommend the mexi cali taco and the Philly cheese steak! So good!“
“I recently dined at Atmosphere and had a fantastic experience. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was inviting, and the service was impeccable. The man with the black blazer provided exceptional service throughout the evening. As for the food, dinner exceeded my expectations – it was absolutely delicious. I had previously visited for lunch and wasn’t as satisfied, but I’m glad I gave it another try for dinner. I highly recommend trying the dinner menu; it’s definitely worth it!“
“i never leave reviews but this has been so wonderful i had to!! all the staff went out of their way to welcome me in. The patio was adorable. The food came out so quickly, and was delicious (and i moved here from texas!) highly recommend :)“
“The service was great. I was shocked that actually Lamb chops were not on the menu. I did not like that it was so dark. I could barely read the menu. I also didn't like that everything was a la carte. They did have chops, on menu of the night. They were pretty good. Def worth the $55. And the sides were good. I had mac, Brussels & mash. All good. We also had a chocolate soufle. It was soo silky & smooth. Definitely worth saving space. I did like the flowers outside & I also recommend a reservation b/c they seem to be pretty popular. Dinner for 3 was $350.“
“We stopped by The Mermaid after dinner for a couple of drinks and had a pretty good time! It was super crowded but we were lucky to find a table to sit at. The place was pretty loud but the playlist was great and the atmosphere and crowd was friendly and a lot of fun. With a cute underwater/sea theme, their menu looks like it typically has a lot of rum based drinks but we had to get the special holiday drinks!Out of the specialty drinks we ordered the Sinterclaws, Seven Siren Swimming, Nauti or Nice, Carols of the Coral, A Merry Little "Coquito", and a Dementa Xmas "Shot." Almost all of the drinks were served in festive glassware like a snowman mug, so cute! My favorite drinks had to be Seven Sirens Swimming with the brown butter fat washed Chihuatan Indigo rum, and the "coquito" like a tiny coconutty eggnog.“
“Next door to the office and a good spot to grab a casual bite after work! Prices seem high, but the food is good and the portions are worth it. Service is always friendly, just make sure you order at the bar as they won't come to you. But, they will deliver the food once the order has been placed. And, free and easy parking!“
“Food was good but heavy! This is a loud restaurant and is good if you're wanting a bar style environment with food and drinks. Hence the name - pocha. One of the owners or managers was walking around checking on customers which was so nice. Overall, I enjoyed the food and service was decent but it was a little too heavy for me so I probably won't return.“
“Trendy 21st century meets old Pasadena. I love the design and decor of this place. This is a great spot for orderves and drinks. The owner, is a solid guy who genuinely cares about the people around him, his restaurant and customers.Go support a good man!“
“The burger was incredibly filling, and flavor profile very balanced with arugula, blue cheese, carmelized onions. I got a side Caesar and the croutons are surprisingly memorable. My colleague got the chicken piccatta and said it was delicious. The wait staff was very polite and food came out pretty quick given they seem to have a fairly busy lunch crowd. I can see why people come here repeatedly for lunch. It's reliable, great quality, and decently elegant ambiance.“
“It's really hard for me to give a full 5 stars. Creative cocktails? Check. Imposing whisky collection? Check. Loud music blasting so hard you have to shout your order to the bartender and shout to the person in front of you? Check.I feel like it's a ton of wasted potential. Disregard my inner cocktail nerd wanting to talk about alcohol with the bartenders but it's even hard to talk to the person sitting next to you.I'll probably try again tomorrow and update my review afterwards. All of that said, the drinks are very good so try it even if you end up just drinking them in silence.“
“Food was delicious; the best! But they were short-handed, like everywhere these days. Service was a little slow but that wasn't the waiters fault. The table we were sitting at was falling apart and booth across the way was torn in two places. That said!! Atmosphere still felt very old L.A. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.“
“5 stars for the enchanting old-school atmosphere of this cozy establishment. 5 stars for beautifully made cocktails by skilled bartenders. 5 stars for friendly service and knowledgeable servers. The sole reason I'm deducting a star is for the total lack of non-meat dinner options. I made an exception and had a salmon caesar salad that was very delicious, but I so wish they'd throw a vegetarian a proverbial bone. It certainly won't stop me from coming back for a classy drink, but it would make it a hell of a lot easier for me to stick around after I've finished it.“
“Love this place! Came here the entire football season and it was such a great vibe for sports. They even have a cute patio area with TVs which I'll be taking advantage of A LOT this summer. Full bar and the food is tasty - great happy hour in general but they also have a great taco Tuesday and $10 pizza Wednesdays. Highly recommend! Shout out to Jordan and Kyla because they're always so kind and take good care of us. :)“
“You guys, this place is awesome! Our party of 6 tried several things from the menu and everything was fantastic. Our bottle of sake was awesome and so was the service. This is a cozy romantic darkly lit space that you should definitely try! Nadia was our server and her recommendations were on point. We can't wait to come back for date night! Be prepared to drop some $$$$ but it's worth it!“
“Stopped here on a Saturday afternoon, sometime between lunch & dinner. Seated right away. Service was friendly but definitely slow. Also, their menus reflect cash prices so if you pay with a card they charge you more. Just pay your employees a livable wage???? Had the half lemon herb chicken - huge portion. The sides that came with the dish were wonderful, chicken was flavorful but also a bit difficult to eat. Inside & outside seating available, restroom was clean. There were quite a bit of flies hanging around inside the dining room. With all my complaints, the food was solid.“
“This was the perfect pit stop at mine and hubs' date night. We were really going to the Ice House but dipped in here for a quick foodie / drinkie "pre-game." I believe this is family owned and service was every bit like being at your friend's moms house for all the attentiveness. I had a taco de birria and it was deelish!! The consommé was savory but not overpoweringly so. Hubs had a chicken soft taco that looked good. Chips and salsa were tasty and beer was cold!“
“Very nice place. The outside looks like a ski lodge with fake snow on the roof. Inside is a dimly lit log cabin with wood shavings on the floor and a life sized stuffed bear in a display case by the waiting area. The red cabbage salad was good but overly salty as was the salad dressing. The cheese bread was very flavourful but oily. More butter than cheese. Dinner was a steak and lobstertail combo. The steak was a reasonable sized portion and well cooked. The lobstertail and side potato were enormous, perfectly cooked. There's a reason things are called lumberjack sized. Even the coffee mugs are oversized. Everything was delicious including the chocolate mousse dessert which was the perfect size. Just be aware there are no vegetarian or vegan options here. It's a meat and fish eaters eatery. Well worth it IMO. Would definitely go back.“
“Service was quick and helpful The bar was chill, full but easily got a table there was 6 of us so we had to yell over music a bit to communicate which isn't always funWe were mostly there for food which was great Def a saving grace when everything around there closes at 1030ish The birria quesadilla, chefs kissThe torta was a amazing as wellWould come back again after a night in the strip“
“The place have been on my tagged list to try and I finally dropped in for lunch with my aunt and stuffed ourselves silly with yummy food & fabulous drinks. HIGHLY recommend!FOOD: They have reasonable lunch specials available from which we ordered the chicken enchiladas & al pastor street taco. Both were great & very tasty. I also had a craving for chilaquiles so we ordered that off the regular menu and my cravings were very well satisfied. We forgot to order the highly recommended shrimp empanadas but that’s a perfect excuse for us to go back soon!DRINKS: I mean they are truly one of the highlights of our meal. The signature “La Sexy Michelada” was one of the best I’ve had. It literally had a whole half of a mango seasoned with chamoy & tajin balanced on a tamarind candy stick in a large glass mug liberally rimmed with chamoy & tajin. The michelada itself was perfectly made IMHO. My aunt ordered the Margarita Flight and she thought every single one was delicious & unique. Her personal fave was the cucumber margarita & mine was the mango margarita.“
“I LOVE, love this place. I started coming to look at the old signage and kept coming back because Kim (and most of the other bartenders) were so kind to me a few summers ago when I would come in for the AC, the wifi (RIP), and to pretend that I was the scientist version of Charles Bukowski :) It's so far from a normal bar because there are amazing patio chairs, an uninterrupted view of the mountains abutting Lake Ave, and a historical memory of the Altadena of yesterday. There is also a little lending library (but please don't take the good books home because I like looking at them). I've stopped in there every day at this point so I know which days I'm welcome and which ones still have old holdovers from a time when my kind wouldn't be welcomed in a place like this. I'm just glad that the owners Chis and his wife and the people they've hired don't behave like this. They want you to feel like this is your own little production of "Cheers" where everybody knows your name. As long as you are also respectful and pay your bill. Not sure how much longer I'll be coming here but I wanted to leave a glowing review at some point because I've made some lasting friendships here. Thanks! xx ash P.S. Don't go on Sunday or Wed afternoon (or on Monday if Kim isn't working - she's a protector) if you look and dress like a little skater punk or have loc'd hair, or if you're alone and female embodied, you're better off going next door to ACE (grab a nice seltzer or topo chico and chat with Jacob) or to Unincorporated Coffee Shop/Roasters at the corner of Lincoln & Altadena Drive, until the sun sets then you can head to the Rancho because the crown will change around 5:30/6pm in the Winter. Saturday's get busy but I rarely go on Friday or Sat because I'd rather hang with my actual friends. If you like pool or darts you can do that here. If you want to watch a big game, it's usually on. Most customers are respectful, but there are a lot who are not, so just keep your eyes and ears open if you're alone. Ladies (and some men), get some bear spray or an expandable self-defense baton if you're walking to your car alone after leaving the bar at night. I also have a carbon fibre cross-bow because you never know what people can get up to if they're gooonnne off the Titos. Anyway, I hope Chris lets me design a t-shirt or hoodie for the bar one day!“
