“We were gifted our first ever Bake Sum box. After trying just one bite of a Yuzu meringue bun I knew I needed more. Ordered our second BSB last week and shared amongst the roomies, huge hit. Well baked, not too sweet, great flavor combinations. 10/10 would recommend the Bake Sum box. If you can’t grab a box, you can grab al a cart day of pick ups just to tide you over until you can get a box 😋”

“A great place to go work when you have a lot to get done. More outside spots than inside so its better on a sunny day. Its open late which is great. Never issues with the wifi bht limited charging spots.
Drinks are very yummy.
No designated parking so you will have to drive around for a spot.”

“Celebrated my husband’s birthday here and it turned out to be one of the most enjoyable dinners we’ve had in a long time.

The service stood out from the moment we sat down. Fresh cutlery for every course, the table cleared and tidied between dishes, and the staff walked us through the ingredients and story behind each plate. The 20% service charge felt completely earned.

The menu blends Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Northern California influences — Thai-style sour and spicy notes, fresh oysters and herbs, Chinese pork meatballs, duck glazed with Shaoxing wine and soy, a Japanese-inspired beef rice — all reflecting the chef’s Chinese-Thai roots. The flavors really suit an Asian palate, and the portions are generous. I thought the snapper was the grand finale, but course after course kept coming until we were completely full! The rose ice cream at the end was unforgettable — floral, light, and not too sweet.

And the plating is genuinely art. The chef loves pairing dishes with flowers: delicate blossoms over the sashimi, a dew-covered mini lotus leaf resting on the meatballs. Every dish was a feast for the eyes.

Food, plating, service — all at a Michelin two-star level, and at around $279 per person before tax it almost feels like a deal. Location is in downtown Oakland with public parking a 2-minute walk away (I’d recommend the garage over street parking). Highly recommend!”

“All the food looks amazing! Unfortunately, a most of the fishes on the nigiri was kind of tasteless so it's hard to distinguish between the pieces. I didn't like the fish eggs because it was slightly fishy - this might be my personal palette though. The eel with avocado and cucumbers was really tasty.
Note, I suggest looking at what you're purchasing because the fish pieces might slightly differ in size. And for the price your paying, you probably want the bigger pieces like how I would.”

“I agree with everyone, the most tender and delicious chicken sandwich I've ever had. I had a seasonal special, elote corn chicken sandwich, and it was amazing. Lots of delicious flavorful sauce without being too salty.

We got there at 11:15 am on a Thursday, so there was seating available at their two patio tables outside, the only seating they offer. I can imagine not finding seating during busy hours.

They told me that on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, they serve nuggets and fries, which is great for little kids.”

“My BF lived in Oakland for a couple of decades and never been here; so we thought we’d give it a try. Seems quite authentic, though we couldn’t quite stomach the fermented pork sausage. The fried version was good of course. Jeo Pa Dach was excellent, as was the quail. We’ll come back to try other dishes! It’s a small, simple, no frills restaurant.”

“This is one of our favorite weekend brunch spots. The owner could not be sweeter, and the food is always fresh and delicious. I'm vegan, so I always get the vegetarian combo plate, but I never bore of it. Feels like home cooking, with the freshest of ingredients. And the injera is delicious, too. Our favorite Ethiopian spot in the East Bay...and we have a lot of great Ethiopian restaurants!”

“Everything we've ordered the past few times have been amazing and cooked to perfection. Portions are also generous with lots of sauce, which pairs well with the rice or naan. The monthly specials are hit or miss, we enjoy the main menu items more consistently. Highly recommend this spot!”

“Went in and got the Italian, bag of chips and a can soda with 10% tip came out to $22.50+-
All out of the soft rolls. Had the Dutch crunch and I asked for it to be toasted which they forgot to do. Bread was cold dense and chewy. The rest was on point. No napkins in the bag though. So excellent drippy sandwich needs napkins. Plus no in place tables to sit at? That's why the less stars. I will try again though but I guess I will be clearer? Give them a try. Also forgot to take a photo but my sandwich tracked with the other photos.”
