“The BEST place to eat! I go all the time and i have never been disappointed. The staff are always so nice too, they keep that place clean! You have to go to El Burrito!! But im warning you, youll have to say goodbye to your regular go to Mexican restaurant.. this is your new go to.!“
“What. A. Find. Traveling to Reno and I-80 is closed so we stopped and stayed in Auburn. Walked over to this hole in the wall Mexican joint and stumbled upon a gem. I travel to Baja frequently and this place is as good, and definitely as authentic, as any restaurant I've been to in Mexico. The soups were over the top. My wife went with the chicken tortilla and the portion was a meal in itself. The prices were so good, I figured that the portions must be small, so I went a la carte with a Baja fish taco (the only so-so item), a cheese enchilada (excellent) and chili rellenos (the best I've ever had, no exaggeration.) The locals know the place, but if you're traveling through, stop here, you won't be disappointed. The only downside to the meal was it was so much food that I didn't get to try the homemade flan.“
“Post-hiking at Hidden Falls, decided to refuel at this spot with some al pastor tacos - and oh, were they a treat! Flavorful and hit just the right spot after a day on the trails. Now, let's talk about that habanero hot sauce - it packs a decent punch, so spice lovers, you're in for a thrill! Parking was surprisingly hassle-free, which is always a bonus. The bathroom was spotless, a testament to their attention to cleanliness. And the staff? Couldn't have been friendlier, adding a warm touch to the whole experience. If you find yourself in the area, definitely consider this place for a tasty bite.“
“This place has the best Mexican food hands down, in town & for the best price! Very reasonably priced meals! I love their carne asada chimichanga! The tortilla is crisp, yet melts in your mouth & I love the small chunks of carne, tender & seasoned to perfection! The chimichanga is cooked to perfection & my husband loves the chicken fajitas & he says they are the best he's ever had too! The carne quesadilla is awesome too! I can't wait to try everything else & I will because the taste is right on!!! The rice & beans are so good too, I am very picky about my Mexican food!!! Their salsa is the best I've ever had, along with the chimichanga!!! Friendly service, outstanding food!!! We are hooked, will keep coming back for more & more, YUM YUM? ? ? Service is quick too!!! They serve cerveza too! Highly recommend!!! They also have take out!!! A must try if you love great Mexican food!!!“
“As authentic as you think you would expect if you were wanting great food. Service was good and so was everything else. I'd give it a shot again. Sometimes I'm a little picky and I'm always amazed when you find a nice little restaurant that's tuck in a corner and something you don't hear about very often, that makes you smile.“
“I moved up here recently from Santa Cruz and San Jose. I've been to every top taqueria in both cities and between. Burritos Jalisco is one of the best taquerias. It's my go to restaurant. The carnitas is excellent! Phil, James and Justin are great owners!“
“It's been going down hill rapidly. Breakfast burritos last couple weeks have been cold and cheese isn't even melted. Bleck, tortilla cold and hard. Late night window clerk doesn't speak English so they have to have other employees run over and translate! Last week I ordered a taco with no lettuce, they gave me only meat and extra lettuce.“
“Excellent food. Pastor burrito, Pollo tacos, Carne asada tacos( highly recommend). All excellent flavor and portion sizes. Super clean restaurant, and large bar area away from main dining room.large screen menu display for getting a good view of the prepared dishes. great facility for eating inside and out. Staff friendly. Absolutely love the Salsa and Chips bar. IPA on tap to wash it all down. Lovely Sunday evening , enjoying food . Several people enjoying margaritas on the patio. When in Auburn, grab a quality meal for a reasonable price.“

The portion sizes are generous, and the quality is consistently outstanding. Their dedication to excellent service is evident, making them true warriors for business. Five stars – always a delightful experience!Parking: The parking lot is ample and well-lit, providing a hassle-free experience. Situated in a convenient strip mall setting, you have easy access coming and going. Best of all, it's all free, making your visit even more convenient and enjoyable.Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is lively and perfect for kids, with fun and excitement in the air. Most nights, they even have a balloon animal artist, adding an extra layer of joy. It's a fantastic place for families with a vibrant and lively atmosphere. Highly recommend for a great time with the kids!“
“Came from out of town and found this great place. Food was great! Even our Mexican friends loved it. It feels like an authentic hole in the wall with family workers and kids running around. Feels like home. Lol. Come here if you want authentic home food with family to hang out with. Large portions. Friendly.“
“Wonderful service and generous portions of great Mexican cuisine. Third time here. First time I remembered to review. Carnitas chimis are pictured. They are open 24 hours and offer complimentary chips and salsa bar. Cheers JeffKid-friendliness: Street taco for kids“
“The service and food was excellent. I was part of seven guy lunch group ( we rotate around Auburn on Thursdays) who showed up around noon for lunch. The place is pretty large with two dining areas and a full bar area. As we came in our drink orders were taken and salsa and chips placed on the table. After we all arrived our orders were taken. We ordered across the menu and everything was authentic and tasty. The cubed pork in my Chimichanga was very moist, tender and tasty. Our server was timely showing up if we need a beer refill or anything else. We get one check and it was correct and professionally handled. We, as a group, decided we should come back. Parking is somewhat difficult as this place is in Old Town Auburn. There is lots of parking in a public lot but one has to walk a bit.“
“For nearly 30 years, Tio Pepe's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina has been dishing out Mexican favorites, to Auburn, CA locals, visitors to "Old Town" Auburn, and travelers on nearby Interstate 80. It's become a "go-to" restaurant for delicious Mexican cuisine, to locals, visitors and travelers on nearby Interstate 80. Tio Pepe's has been dishing out fresh, family recipe Mexican cuisine for nearly 30 years, and the restaurant has become a favorite of Auburn locals, visitors to historic "Old Town," and travelers on nearby busy I-80 freeway. The restaurant is just a short couple blocks off the freeway, and has become a favorite of travelers heading east to Reno and beyond. As you enter the restaurant, you'll see the bar, and you'll be seated by your server. The floor seems to be a tad on the irregular side, so as the sign advises, please watch your step as you enter. Did you miss the colorful, delightful Mexican patio, complete with fountain before you entered the restaurant? During warm weather, the patio offers an amazing outdoor dining experience. "Lunch" menu, which is offered weekdays, excluding holidays, from 11:00 to mid afternoon. Just for the record, the "portion size" is just about right for lunch. If you are adventurous, or if your appetite is "larger than lunch," you can order from the "Dinner" side of the menu, which offers a wide array of choices, and bigger portions. From the weekday "Lunch" menu, I went with "Chilie Relleno," along with rice and beans, which are included with every lunch. The "Lunch" menu is offered Monday through Friday, from 11:00 until three in the afternoon, excluding holidays. Like most selections on the "Lunch" menu, it was priced at a reasonable $9.95. The menu describes this delicious entree as, "Chilie filled with cheese, deep fried and covered in Ranchera sauce. Served with rice and choice of refried or black beans." Like the trooper I am, I went with refried beans as my choice of beans. My "Chilie Relleno" began as a medium size chili pepper, most likely a "Hatch," which was stuffed with Mexican cheese, and deep fried to absolute perfection. The "Ranchera" sauce reminded me of chili/tomato based sauce that I've enjoyed to trips in Mexico, as it was definitely tomato based, but enjoyed lots of chili, and seasoning... you guessed it... cumin and garlic. The sauce was on the thick side, which covered the relleno perfectly, with just a hint of "heat," but the flavor was simply delicious! A small side of shredded cabbage and carrot was on the side, which made for a nice touch to my lunch, and it mixed well with the "Ranchera" sauce. Cabbage is very popular in Mexico, as you'll rarely find lettuce as a side, unless you're in a border or tourist town. The Mexican rice was solid, delicious, and included a tidbit of peas and carrots, which is rarely found in northern Mexico. I was surprised... Did I accidentally make my way to Mexico City instead of Auburn? Tio Pepe's website advertises their refried beans are vegetarian, which means the beans are free of lard and other animal products. I'm used to enjoying refried beans cooked in lard, but one taste of Pepe's refried beans made a believer in the "healthier side" of me, as delicious refried beans CAN be made without using lard! The refried beans were creamy, flavorful, and garnished with just a bit of melted, shredded Mexican cheese to enhance the taste of this amazing side. OK... I'm a believer in the refried beans served at Tio Pepe's Mexican Restaurant! I hear the recipe is a long-time family favorite, and it's served at the restaurant. Now the secret is posted on the web! You can't beat the price of the lunch, as it was $9.95, which included a basket of freshly-fried tortilla chips, along with the bowl of salsa cruda. The $5.00 price of a bottle of imported Pacifico beer is in line with “
“Love this place. All aspects are delectable. My friend was able topurchase a Taco Tree shirt, but unfortunately they do not sell Taco Tree baseball caps. They should consider doing so. The staff wear hats, so clearly they have them, they just aren't for sale to the general public.“
“This Taco Bell has an amazing staff. I don't eat much fast food, but Taco Bell's Mexican Pizza satisfies when you've had a busy day and don't want to cook or dress up for dinner, so the food is satisfactory. However, the staff here is superb and should be praised for their customer service skills.“
“Came by for dinner last Friday. Nice new cups, silverware, plates, dishes. Same excellent service and food. LOVE cafe D. Excellent tamales. Tasty salsa. The salad dressing is homemade and the best. The Colorado chimichanga is my absolute favorite. Highly recommended. Wonderful service! End up bringing half our food home for the next day the servings are so big. Casual atmosphere. Sometimes they have the TV on, Sometimes music.Kid-friendliness: Kids love this placeParking: Okay parkingWheelchair accessibility: Wheel chair access“
“Was there 7/9/2023 in the evening. As far as Taco Bells go, I was quite satisfied. The food prepared was pretty close to what is advertised, as opposed to the bare minimum standards I usually experience at this chain. It's not gourmet fare, but it was done right for what is is. I don't think it was very busy, but the food was delivered quickly. There was also a reasonably clean public restroom.“
“Right off of i-80, Bowman Road or Foresthill Road exit. Jimboy's has great tacos! I see they're now serving breakfast again, haven't tried that, new owners since a couple years ago and my last review. These are two carnitas tacos.“
“I don't know how I didn't know about this place!!! Best Mexican restaurant in town.I got the Chile relleno & shirp taco and it was delicious ? !! Fast , clean and super friendly people. Will come back to try the giant burrito.“
