“Consistently great food and service. Atmosphere is subdued and quiet, which we appreciate. Great steaks, burgers, fish, and superb cocktails. Nice patio or dinner indoors. When everything else in Bakersfield has an hour wait you can get right in at the Crest. It's a regular go to for us.“

“Hey there! I just wanted to share my recent visit to Ethel's Old Corral. My husband and I went there for a late lunch/early dinner after our eye doctor appointment. We had a fantastic time at this charming, old-fashioned, western-style cafe. The moment we stepped in, we were greeted warmly by the friendly hostess/waitress who led us to our table. We chose a cozy spot by the window with a great view of the Tall Indian that marks Ethyl's on Alfred Harold Hwy. The waitress handed us the menus and took our drink order right away. Our drinks were served quickly, and we placed our food order with her. I ordered the pastrami sandwich with fries for $15.00, while my husband ordered the deep-pit dinner priced at $15.00 also. While we waited for our food, we enjoyed the pop and country music playing on the jukebox. I couldn't help but notice how the new owners had significantly improved the place, including new floors and overall cleanliness. It was my first time back at Ethel's Old Corral since Ethel herself worked and owned the place. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic work of the new owner. (Check out the pictures!) Our food was served quickly and was piping hot. I have to say - Ethel's pastrami sandwich was one of the most delicious sandwiches that I've had in a long time! The meat was piled high, and the sandwich was perfectly juicy without being too greasy. And those crinkle-cut French fries were amazing! I don't know what the chef did to them, but they stayed hot throughout our meal. As my husband put it, "These fries are addictive!" I also had a taste of my husband's Deep pit meat, and let me tell you, it was smokey and tender! His dinner came with a roll and a cup of beans with cheese. I was so engrossed in eating my sandwich that I completely forgot to take a picture until I had already eaten half of it. Oops, my bad! Don't worry, I did take some photos of the cafe's interior. It's so charming and clean, you'll love it! Overall, Ethel's Old Corral was the perfect place to stop for a bite to eat. We had a great time, and we're definitely coming back for other meals. I highly recommend it!“

Noa-Noa Club Bar & Grill •
9350 S Union Ave, Bakersfield

“I didn't actually go to the club, I was at the taco truck which is just outside of the club. The club is huge, it is right next to (Highland?) Lounge which is a hotel/motel.Alot of Latinx, Hispanics, and Spanish Speakers. People may speak English or possibly even Arabic.Maybe one to four White people, including me; I pass as White. No visibly Black people. If so I have never seen them here EVER. I've lived in this neighborhood almost all of my life.No Asians spotted that night. There is no significant Asian population here or in Bakersfield. There may have been some others like maybe Arabs, Jews, Middle Eastern, and India people. Huge Sheikh population here (attractive Sheikh temple located 2-3 miles from here).Al-Haitham (Arabic for young eagle or young falcon) bought Greenfield Market and renamed it Al-Haitham Market; they are next door to the club.Maybe demographics are changing it into an Arabic and/or Middle Eastern neighborhood.I was the only registered Native there (1/64 Cherokee). However alot of Mestizos which are basically Native and Spanish/Hispanics mix. It's not know to be segregated or have any race issues since the club is technically in Greenfield (soon to be Al-Haitham area?) just 7 miles south from Bakersfield. The club is close by schools like McKee school (used to have K-8) and Golden Valley High so be on your best behavior here.If you get into trouble like speeding over 25mph in school zones just be advised the fine may double if the incident happened within 1,000 ft. of a school.Speed limit on S. Union is 45 mph unless posted otherwiseDress code enforced. Many people dressed up in cowboy or Norteno Mexicano apparel ( palm cowboy hats, exaggerated and decorative belt buckles, blue denim jeans, and cowboy boots (yes even the long curvy tip boots). The women dress somewhat between Amish style to street walker apparel. Very modest here.No tank tops, No shorts, No sandals.I was denied access to enter the club because I wore Los Angeles sandals that night.“

“We were there to celebrate a birthday. Overall we enjoyed the experience. A couple of things that would make it a 5 star experience. One was the lighting, they had some overhead lights that were quite bright. We ordered the Caprese appetizer. The fresh tomatoes were in need of seasoning. My daughter ordered the filet mignon, the steak was very tender and seasoned beautifully. Only critique was it had a slight gas flame taste. I had the lobster ravioli and it was delicious, best I ever had. My husband had the Cobb Salad which he enjoyed“

“We were headed to Costco, but we didn't want to fill up on samples. ;) El Patron is right across the street and the have a patio. It was a nice day, so we called an audible. It was mid afternoon and the place was quiet. Our water took our order quickly - chili verde burrito - and an extra plate. He brought our drinks along with salsa and chips. The patio was nice. There's a fountain and you get to hear the trickling of water. The plate was substantial. The burrito was tasty and nicely spicy. I don't like the flavor to hot. The pork pieces were tender. This was a good meal for the price. We finished up and waddled over to Costco. We didn't need any samples, that's for sure.“

“My son and I spent the whole afternoon during one of the first San Francisco 49er games this past year. What a blast we had with the crowd! Everybody seems so friendly, and they all seem to know each other. Granted they were all 49er fans pretty much. The food was really good and those waitresses really hustled to get out all the food in a timely manner. They were awesome! Our waitress was exceptional and I could see how the others were just as exceptional. Very personable and showed a great attitude, despite the workload that could be very stressful. Having a great attitude couldn't really make a break. Everyone's experience. My thoughts were that they were shorthanded, but they did a great job that day!“
