Laurie was great at guiding our order (1/2 a sheet cake so we could write a message and cupcakes for the kids) and produced a fabulous product with only two days notice. This is an excellent gluten free bakery! The muffins, donuts, and overall baked goods are always good. They have some vegan options as well though these are mostly constrained to their bread. They also offer espresso and other coffee drinks (Matcha coming soon). Would definitely recommend. Make sure to come early morning as most baked goods are sold out closer to their closing time.

“I was fortunate enough to find Sepideh and her wonderful little shop and asked if she could make a special, custom cake for my wife's birthday. The process was fun and exciting. “BEST BAGEL PLACE IN SANTA CRUZ. Bagels are fresher and larger than Bagelry. Portions are bigger and cheaper than the Bagelry. You get more stuff on your bagel without having to pay extra, which unfortunately is the case at the Bagelry. I always get a Lox sandwich with capers, onions, lettuce, tomato, and cucumber already included in the price which is $7. At the Bagelry when I order a Lox sandwich, I get a stale bagel twice smaller and I have to pay extra for capers and tomatoes- $13 total, which does not have any lettuce or cucumber in it. “Perfectly poached eggs on a bed of arugula was a flavor delight. Everything was exceptionally fresh and delicious for both of our meals including the Guatemalan coffee that was served. I had to ask about the coffee beans, because it was so good.
The entire staff is friendly and very kind, making our visit totally satisfying.

“As a vegan, finding a truly delicious birthday cake is tough to find. But Black China Bakery outdid themselves! My husband ordered the vegan raspberry chocolate cake for my 64th and it's the best I've had in a long time. Kaitlin outdid herself with the decorating as well. As a long time vegan cook and baker, I'm not sure how she manages such a delicious frosting, but it was divine. I wouldn't hesitate to order from Black China Bakery. They were kind, accommodating to my husband's requests and all around a business that deserves our support.“
