“Yummy filipino food!! Just like eating it home cooked! the turon we got was nice and crispy still too! We wanted to try a lot so we got afritada, chicken adobo, kare kare, pancit, sisig, and lechon kawali. Everything was amazing! They were still open on new year's eve which was nice too! Super nice lady helping us out also got us veggies for the kare kare and bagoong and sawsawan We'll definitely be coming back!!“

Cabalen sweets&savory Filipino • $

“I love the idea of Filipino and Middle Eastern eats in one food truck!I used to frequent this yummy food truck/tent when they used to come to the Kaiser Vallejo and Oakland farmers markets pre-pandemic. Their truck/tent was always colorful and inviting with friendly workers. My favorite and go-to was the shawarma wrap, which was huge, flavorful and delicious. I also liked their lumpia as a side dish. I just tried them again at the Spring Brews Fest in Todos Santos Plaza today and had to get my OG chicken shawarma wrap- it's literally been years since I had it. The wait was pretty long but expected at peak hours of the event.Although it was still good with the flavorful chicken, fresh produce, and tasty sauces, the wrap was smaller than I remembered and more expensive by a few bucks. The staff was working pretty hard cranking out all the orders so I gotta give them credit for surviving during the pandemic and economic crisis. The menu has some other tempting items like my people's pancit, adobo - I'll have to try their combos and the shawarma fries next time I see them in town!“

“I am partial to cassava cake, even the not so great ones. BUT these cassava cakes were moist and given it's made with condensed milk, it was not that sweet. I also got the puto/kutsinta platter. This was my first time trying puto and it wasn't bad, but just not special. The kutsinta was pretty good too. They also have savory dishes but I didn't get any, some looked promising. I will definitely visit again and try more desserts and maybe savory dishes too.“

Goldilocks Bakeshop and Restaurant Filipino • $
2030 Diamond Blvd, Concord

“Goldilocks is the place to go to buy fresh, sweet, and delicious birthday cakes! We celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday today with a tasty Ube overload cake, so good. The service was friendly, but they wrote the wrong name for pick up. The name for pick up was supposed to be my husband Edward, but they wrote Roger, but we got the cake. (an honest mistake) It was a little busy at Goldilocks today, but not bad. There were enough places to sit comfortably. Overall, we are happy with Goldilock's service and delicious baked goods, which is why we keep coming back for more!!“

“If you're looking for Filipino food then Grill City isn't a bad option. It's a restraunt inside of Seafood City and its really good. Food is great and the service is a little slow but it's worth since they make it relatively fresh. Atmosphere isnt bad for those who dont mind noisy malls. I had Pork Skewers and rice and my gf had Bangus and rice with Kare Kare. Our drink were calamansi and coconut juice.“

Traballo’s Backyard BBQ Barbeque • $$
3001 Bayshore Rd, Benicia

“This place is hidden in the cuts but worth the drive for some good barbecue. From the freeway exit N/B 680 it's only one turn right turn a maybe a 2 minute drive. From S/B 680 it may be 5 minutes more if that. It's kind of hidden but there is a big sign you can't miss if you're looking. They have a small parking lot and take orders through the screen door. There is outside seating and tables if you choose to eat there. I placed my order after looking over the menu outside and my food was ready really quick. The 2 way combo was $25 which was understandable and reasonable for the portion sizes and inflation. My only gripe may be on what they consider potato salad which was more like a loaded baked potato. The flavor of the chicken and ribs were delicious. The ribs were tender and neither were burned or over cooked. I also like that they put the barbecue sauce in containers for you to add to your food as you like. The Mac and cheese was pretty good too but could have used a bit more seasoning to it. Otherwise I like this place and the staff are very nice as well. Oh yeah, they didn't have the lumpia that day“

Filipino Turo-Turo Filipino • $$
155 Atlantic Ave, Pittsburg

“Pancit palabok is where its at here at Filipino turo-turo.We heard from a friend that the pancit palabok here at Filipino turo-turo is delicious for your next Filipino gathering. We went ahead and ordered half a tray for our Christmas party at my father-in-law's house. Filipino turo-turo legitimately feels like a filipino general store: a bunch of food, snacks, and other trinkets on their aisles. A turo-turo section with your typical filipino dishes. The palabok sure is delicious! It has the right amount of savor and everything on it works. It feels like a home made dish that everyone enjoyed. We really enjoyed it so much that we already had it pre-ordered for the coming New Year celebration in our home. Oh, and we also ordered their turon as well. Did I mention also that it is just as good as their palabok?“

“Haven't been to the restaurant, but it's my go to place for Lumpia when a craving hits and I want it now vs ordering a day in advance from my favorite home cook.I typically order the pork lumpia, the pork belly sisig and sometimes the adobo chicken wings. Not a fan of the garlic noodles or rice, not enough garlic flavor for my taste. The restaurant is strictly a grab and go place (they took over the space that used to be Hop Sing's Chinese), and parking can be a challenge as the lot is small and there are multiple businesses in the small strip mall. That's why I typically get it delivered.Another hard working family business to support if you can.“
