“Excellent locally owned and operated restaurant with fantastic hospitality and delicious food. I love the atmosphere as it is both great for a casual date and family friendly. On my visit the owner made the rounds to check in with the tables to make sure everyone was enjoying the experience. I highly recommend visiting; they also have a wonderful brunch. And if you like outdoor dining, the outdoor space is lovely“

“We had brunch here on Saturday. The waffles are absolutely delicious! The eggs benedict was fantastic too. I should have taken pictures. I have been coming to this Nordstrom since it was built in the 80's. I have never eaten here. This place is awesome and I will be back as the menu looks fantastic.“

“Arrived solo while waiting for a mate and was instantly looked after by the lovely bartender & manager—genuinely great chat and brilliant drink recs. The “punch special” is chaos in a glass (a mix of whatever’s going—but cheap and fun if you’re brave). Music was random, the pool table was lively, and people were even sending drinks to strangers, which gave the whole place a buzzy, friendly feel. It’s the perfect mix of dive bar energy with proper service and solid drinks. Not polished, not trying to be—just effortlessly cool. Definitely worth a visit, and I’d happily go back.“

The bartenders were friendly and engaging, the music was interesting and fun, and sparked conversation between a few of us strangers at the bar. Love the beautifully curated menu and what it had to offer. Heavily influenced by Japanese ingredients hence offering a very unique menu of its own.

Cocktails were extremely well balanced with flavours, aroma and umami. A sip of The friend of a friend of a friend was no different to eating a bag of toasted chips with its long lingering smoked aroma. Insanely good.

Will definitely go back for the Japanese bites or even the Kaisei don.“

“Awesome karaoke bar in Chinatown, SF! Definitely a Chinatown feel with the dim red lights & decor. There's a huge karaoke book to choose a song to sing. If the bar is full, they'd likely limit you to 1 song at a time so others get a chance. Space is small so it can get crowded. Loved the energy & atmosphere.“

“Novela is such a great spot. The library-themed decor is super cozy and gives the bar a really intimate, laid-back vibe—perfect for a chill drink that can easily turn into a longer night. It feels stylish without trying too hard.

The drinks are amazing, especially the punch-on-tap flight. Fun flavors, generous pours, and definitely worth sharing. Easily one of my favorite bars in SF and a place I’d always come back to.“

“Super friendly bartender (Esau, what a great dude) made our visit to „For the Record“ very special. We tried a bunch of his cocktails and they were all incredibe, then were invited to a round of shots (even though I almost broke a glass twice haha). “If you want to go back in time and enjoy a great meal this is the place. It reminds me of a fine dining restaurant in San Francisco I did my culinary internship at in the 80s. Leather booths, dim lights, cool old Hollywood pics from the 50's, Escargot, Caesar salad, Lamb Shank, and even a speakeasy connected to it! Don't be discouraged that it is in a small strip mall. Once you enter, you are in a different era!“

“We had a wonderful time here. Even though we were in a hurry, everything came out quickly and was delicious. We ordered the eggplant baba ghanoush, which was incredibly flavorful and served with warm, fresh pita bread. The steak skewers were another highlight—so tender and perfectly cooked. The service was great, and the staff were attentive. The atmosphere was beautiful and festive, making the experience even better.
If I could suggest anything to management, it would be to add a few more specialty non-alcoholic drinks, some hot beverage options, and a wider selection of desserts. Overall, though, we really enjoyed our visit and would happily return.“

“Marcus & Aliah are two of the best. I frequented here for several months in 2023. This is a good bar for meeting people, with good music and cocktails. Juan, the owner, is sometimes here and very hospitable. The bartenders know the house cocktails, which are batched and quite good. There is a DJ playing on most weekend nights. They have recently had renovations which turned out quite well.“

We got the Tony Negroni and Elevator of Blood. Both drinks looked and tasted great.

The bartenders were wearing red blazers with REDRUM pins, which added to the ambience.

“My wife and I like Mac's. It's a special place for us. We don't go there a lot, but that's not the point. It's there. And it's waiting for that night when we want to see a good band, dance and have a fun night out. We've seen some great bands there, class acts that really pump the floor. Mac's has a great atmosphere; they are always ready to light the heaters in the deck bar on cold nights. And when Mike's there, he's always ready with a hi and a quick word. A small town like Fairfax is lucky to have such a place.“

“Amazing local bar/club venue for some really good DJs (all genres of house) to fun karaoke nights (Weds and Sun). Bartenders here are friendly and super nice and the decor/vibe of the place is really special. They curate a really diverse range of nights and rarely a cover, highly recommended. Sound system is top notch.“
