“Hidden gem in Cypress. I am pretty picky when it comes to Sushi and this place is recommended. Specially their lunch box is amazing. Packaged very neatly and my 9pc salmon sushi lunch box comes with tempura, side dish, miso soup and even few sashimi! Love it. Current owners been here for 2yrs or so and they were very kind. And I am there for pick up for passing by I see regulars there so some already know what is good. They have lots of options so I am going try all of them. Inside is not big but very cozy which is perfect for casual dining. Glad I found this place !“

“Food is pretty good nothing to complain about but only the only thing is menu on website is 1 dollar less than in person menu! It is kind of confusing especially when ordering online (not DoorDash, Uber eats, etc.) vs in person. Otherwise love this place!“

“Cafe Hiro is a textbook hole-in-the-wall. You wouldn’t think much of the unassuming restaurant at first glance, but the inside is decorated with just the right amount of whimsy and charm that makes you question if you’re really still in Cypress. The ceiling is painted to look like the sky, and the walls create the ambiance of an outdoor bistro on a Parisian street. There’s even a moody little alleyway strung up with fairy lights and warm lighting where you can sit.
Service was great. The workers are very kind and professional.
The menu consists mostly Japanese style western food - Hamburg steak, pasta, and the like. Their signature dish is the uni pasta. As someone who isn’t the biggest uni fan, it’s delicious. The uni flavor is strongly present without the typical uni texture, blending beautifully in the sauce. The rich, creamy sauce is lit up delightfully by wasabi, surprisingly lacking the harshness you would expect from typical wasabi. The pasta was cooked perfectly as well. The Hamburg steak and risotto dishes are also decent choices.
The appetizers are also definitely worth getting. I recommend the Peking pork bao buns and the fried chicken. The cook was perfect and the flavors are delicious.
The standout dish for me, however, was the bread pudding with bitter caramel sauce. It was genuinely the perfect dessert. The bitter caramel sauce complemented the soft bread pudding. It was not too sweet and the burnt butter taste from the caramel added a depth to the dish.
I highly recommend Cafe Hiro.“

“This teriyaki spot is our go-to place. Their flavor is one of the best in Orange County. While other places just slap teriyaki sauce on plain chicken, this place actually marinates the meat first, then grills it and brushes on more sauce as it cooks — giving it that perfect smoky, grilled flavor without being overly sweet or heavy. And unlike a lot of places that hiked their prices like crazy after the pandemic, this spot still keeps their prices super reasonable. Amazing taste, great value — total hidden gem!“

“It was good. I give it a 7/10. The sauces were fantastic, service was good, and restaurant was nice/clean. I didn’t like that there was no onion, no plain white rice 🍚, and only one type of noodle. That’s my honest review. I’d still go again.“

“The omakase was superb at 'Omakase by FIAB'. The chef's selection consisted of seventeen (17) plates, which were all delectable paired with good service. The server provided a narrative for each plate. The total time for this great selected omakase was 1.5 hours. The ambiance was lively, and the servers were polite, friendly, and prompt. It's definitely a recommended restaurant!“

“I have been coming to Sojuya for several years. At first, I was a little intimidated because there’s lots of options on the menu, but the staff is friendly and willing to help answer any questions you have. We come here at least one a month, more times if we have family coming in from out of town as it’s a great spot to to take them that I know will be different than they have in their home town. This place is my go to for great food, awesome service and a fun atmosphere. It is also my go to if I have a larger party. Anytime I have come here with a party of 6,8 or even 10 people, the host doesn’t even bat an eye and space is found for us. I love the ability to get great Korean comfort food along with the best yakatori. We love the vibe, the people and the food here. Thank you Sojuya! It is always a treat to come.“

“Revised review 1/2026: seems like they gotten past their growing pains they had when they first opened. Nice to have a Japanese market close by but wish the supermarket was larger. This is a small Mitsuwa so they won’t necessarily have the brand or item you are looking for.
Disappointing. Second time there for me was tonight after stopping by the Monday after opening. First time there were a lot of empty shelves which I figured was due to the opening weekend crowds. Now two weeks later on a Tuesday night the same amount of empty shelves. Worse they were selling some sashimi that was a day past its sell by date. I am hoping these issues are due to growing pains and the need to bring new staff up to speed on things like how much to order to keep their shelves stocked. I will continue to stop by hoping it improves but I am surprised a company with multiple stores in SoCal is having such issues two weeks after opening.“
