Monarch Ocean Pub exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and well taken care of. The open-air setting overlooking the street gives the perfect mix of energy and ease — you feel part of the buzz of Del Mar while enjoying a relaxed, elegant meal.

Our server, Bo, was outstanding — friendly, attentive, and genuinely delightful to talk with (we even discovered she went to Indiana University, which made it feel like a small-world connection!).

Every dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavor — from the fresh oysters and crisp Caesar salad to the soft Parker House rolls, the shrimp and lobster sliders, and the finale of melt-in-your-mouth Hawaiian donuts. Each bite was perfection.

Monarch doesn’t just serve food — they create an experience. It was the highlight of our trip and a place we’ll be talking about for a long time.”

“I like the cookies. But the last time I went to Crumbl, we walked in and waited for six minutes. The worker in the store totally ignored us. Finally, we tried the self-checkout, but the credit card reader wasn’t working. So we waited for five more minutes. She still ignored us. Finally, we got her attention, and we had to enter the credit card number manually.

I only gave it four stars because the worker could tell we were upset, so she gave us a free cookie. Also, $5.50 for one cookie?!”

“I wasn't expecting much out of a hotel cafe but I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious the breakfast was here. I had avocado toast with two sunny side up eggs on top. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and I find most sunny side up eggs to be cooked with too much runny white albumin. This was not the case, the edges were crispy and the yolk was still medium. I also tried some of my friend's red potatoes and they were such a highlight. Cooked soft in the middle and crispy on the outside with salt and rosemary. They were exceptional. I also want to give a shout out for the service, the woman who was running the register was friendly and helpful.”

“Le Bambou is one of my favorite restaraunts in all of San Diego and is very affordable! My favorite dishes are Shaken Beef and Star of the Sea in Tamarind Sauce with a side of rice. Each time I’ve gone, their food never disappoints and their flavors amaze me each time and has a wow factor! The Shaken Beef is always so juicy and never dry with great flavor. The Star of the Sea in Tamarind Sauce has a perfect balance of tamarind in its sauce. It’s subtle and blends in the perfect amount. The imperial rolls in the Vermicelli with Pork and Shrimp dish are some of the best egg rolls I’ve ever tried and their pho is also very tasty. It’s a small, family-owned business and the owners seem very sweet and give great recommendations. The prices are very reasonable and their portion sizes have just the right amount and I feel full. The restaurant has a romantic vibe but also a casual vibe at the same time. So if you feel like going on a date or going in casual with friends, family, or kids, it’s a great place to go! 10/10 recommend!”

“I understand mistakes happen. I usually eat at this restaurant once a week after my late shift around 2/3 a.m. I noticed the quality of food got really bad. My meal was simple—a single patty cheeseburger with nothing on it. The first mess-up was the fries—they were burnt. Then the second mess-up: a burnt burger. Like, crispy burnt. Then my last and final straw—they served me a moldy burger that I thought was flour. Even my friends saw it and agreed after I sent them a picture. I ended up in the hospital. I called the manager, and he didn’t even offer a refund—said I was lying. I told him I’d send proof, and then he said no and hung up in my face. Not only is the manager rude and disrespectful, he cares little for his kitchen’s mistakes—and it cost me a day in the hospital. Cost me the only day I have with my son. All because his chefs are lazy and don’t care what they serve.”

“Our server, Patrick was impressive. It was our first time to dine out for Thanksgiving and we were delighted with the option to have traditional turkey or order from menu. The turkey and dressing were delicious and flavorful ( dressing had sausage). We also ordered crabbed stuff mushroom caps that had a light parma cheese that was crispy. The pumpkin cheesecake with vanilla ice cream was outstanding. We were not disappointed and would absolutely recommend Ruth's Chris for holidays. All the servers were attentive even with a packed dining room.”

“We had an amazing stay at L'Auberge Del Mar. The hotel was stunning—beautifully updated with modern finishes and stylish furnishings. Our room was exceptional, featuring an incredibly comfortable bed, luxurious bedding, a marble bathroom, and a breathtaking ocean view from the balcony. The hot tub was a perfect temperature for the cool May evening. On Saturday night, there was a gorgeous wedding on the rooftop, and we enjoyed listening to the music from the hot tub. It wrapped up around 10:30 p.m., allowing for a peaceful and restful night’s sleep. The staff was extremely courteous, and the valet service was top-notch. We will absolutely return to this beautiful hotel and highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay—don’t hesitate to book your room!”
