“Mexes Cafe is a cute, quaint and dainty spot that really eminates with the essence of la familia y tradicion. I appreciate the vibe because it really reminds me of home. The art and the ambience really call to me and I have to give it a high recommendation without even talking about the drinks and food yet. On that note, I had pupusas and two lattes, one of which was a mazapan latte and the other was the horchata latte. I loved the fact that you could choose your own design on the latte. The mazapan latte, literally had such a nostalgic feel because it tastes exactly like the de la rosa candy. As for the horchata latte, you can never go wrong with that. It was very sweet, with that coffee undertone to make a great balance. I genuinely recommend visiting this spot because if you are in the mood for good vibes and good times!“

“I've been coming here for a while for a few specific things:

-Vietnamese Iced Coffee, it's consistently good. Never had a bad one from here. At 5$ it's a pretty good deal.

-Ham & Cheese Croissant is always solid too whether it's cold or warmed up. Again, never had a bad one from here. I believe it's about 4/4.50$.

-Their filled donuts (Bavarian & Raspberry) are so good too! $1.75 each if I recall correctly.

Service is always great too, I don't know the dudes name (I catch him working mornings), but he's always friendly and efficient at getting your order ready even when he's got a few people in the shop.“

“I've eaten many chili relleno burritos from here since they first opened, both with asada and carnitas. I prefer their chili relleno with asada.

The tortillas are excellent. Their salsas are okay. The burritos can be a bit greasy, esply with carnitas. But they're always delicious anyway. (4.5)“

“Fantastic little walk-up counter right on Melrose, with yummy sandwiches! Great little stop if you are walking a dog in the area, with a counter and a tiny seating area. The bread and butter are excellent. I’ve had the Daniel’s favorite, bresaola, jambon buerre, and omelette, and would happily order any of them again. The price can be eye watering, but if you consider the quality, not out of line with say, the pastrami at Langers. If you’re on Too Good to Go, Maison Matho sometimes has “clearance” items, but they sell out really fast!“

“My friend is obsessed with the coffee here whenever she comes to visit. The espresso is very cherry/acidic which isn’t for me but I think most people prefer it that way. Everyone is super nice here and I think it’s a lovely little shop.“

“Came out because of an Eater article, stayed for the mochi pastries. Got an espresso cloud, a black sesame mochi cake bar, and a hojicha mochi muffin. Espresso cloud was tasty, black sesame cake had a great flavor, and the consistency of the hojicha muffin was spot on. Came on a Sunday morning so it was a bit packed and hard to hear orders get called out (hence the 4 star atmosphere), but would absolutely come back again.“

“We loved our visit to Camel this morning. I’ve been out of the city for a while and I’m happy to see such a unique shop pop up. It reminded me of Star Wars inside ? obviously desert themed. Super sick. Love the seating upstairs. But most importantly the staff were very pleasant and the coffee was so good. I love when everything works in unison at a shop like that. Perfect americano. The pastries are great also.“

Please please please get the beuongo bbang (붕어빵/taiyaki). As a korean american Ive been craving the pastry that my halmoni used to get me back in Korea and this is the most authentic and delicious one that beats the one in Korea! I was so startled by the taste that I urged my parents to try and they agreed that the batter is really well made. The drinks were great too but definitely on the sweeter side (try the zodiac drinks, thought it was a cute way to try introduce new drink combos).

Parking and store:
Parking lot is a decent size for it being in ktown. The store is small inside but the atmosphere is so cozy and cute.

Service:
Im pretty sure the man who was taking my owner was also the owner but he was super friendly. Would go out of his way to make sure customers can find the bathroom and would check in with each of his customers.“

“My son brought me to doto last night for my birthday. We found ourselves in Silver Lake after a hike and he saw the great reviews and selected this for our celebratory dinner. We couldn’t have been happier! It was 5 stars from the special corner table, to the complimentary prosecco, to the incredible service - food - and atmosphere - to the yummy dessert with a birthday candle! We left happy, full, and knowing we’d return. Btw best burger and fries in LA! Thank you doto!“

“Pam's is a fun spot with movie-themed decor but the important part is the coffee and tea drinks are excellent and the service staff was polite, welcoming and efficient.
There were some baked goods on display but we didn't partake. There is available street parking nearby most of the time.“

“Honestly, I've only ordered from Frank's coffee via delivery service. My favorite item on their menu that I order consistently is their Dirty Chai. It's literally perfection. “One of the best coffee spots in Pasadena! Love coming here to get my caffeine fix in. I've tried most of the menu and you honestly can't go wrong picking any drink. They offer hot and iced coffee as well as matcha and a few pastries. The owners are extremely kind people who clearly love what they do and it shows. “I had a great time to stop by before I went to school. The parking was hard to find but there is ton of street parking! It was a really cute place to study and chat for a bit, it’s definitely a traditional tea house for tea lovers! My friend and I got the suiteki matcha powder for our drinks! It’s was really good! I’ve been going since 2024, and I safe-keep it for the right peeps who appreciate good cafes. And this year I came back with my friends so that they can taste and experience what good matcha is like. When we visited this Jan, we got the matcha eispanners. My friends truly tasted the quality and balance of flavors presented in their drinks. We sipped till it was gone!! Instantly!! From their eispanners, lattes, and affogatos.. quality, taste and overall flavors is immaculate. Of course there’s always going to be a line and yes it’s crowded inside. You literally have to claim a spot once it’s open or else you loose your chances. Once you do, all you got to do is sit, sip, and relax to the minimalistic atmosphere that is Damo.

Andante coffee comes with sweet cream top. It’s a bit sweet, but not too much.

Ube latte is made with purple sweet potato extract. It was very sweet, so I added an extra shot.

French toast was served on well-toasted brioche.
Berries were sweet and fresh.
Organic maple syrup provided. I couldn’t really tell difference between organic and regular, but flavor was fine.

There is usually wait on weekends, and indoor space is quite small.
There are few tables in back.
Drinks come out relatively quickly, but food takes bit longer.“

“I ordered a Barrio Latte and a fresh juice, and both were excellent. The coffee was smooth and rich with a hint of sweetness, while the juice tasted fresh and natural. You can tell they care about quality ingredients and unique flavors.

The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making it a great place to sit, work on a laptop, or catch up with friends. If you’re exploring Boyle Heights and want something different from the typical chain coffee shop, Ülëw Coffee & Juice is definitely worth checking out.“

“Just tried this place out, and I'm definitely coming back! The coffee was great (I got the burnt sugar latte), the employee I spoke to was helpful, and the service was very fast. “Walked into the café 15 minutes to closing time not sure if they would take us in, but they were very kind to us and didn’t rush us and we had excellent service. I really like how you order at the counter many great options on the menu. As a Mexican American, I appreciate well-made Mexican food. I had the enchiladas Oaxaqueña and the taquitos Dorados and both were excellent. They do very well on their presentation as well. Can’t wait to come back and try other things on the menu. Prices are a little on the high end but overall, I think it’s worth it. My only critiques, and they have nothing to do with the food, would be to not make it so cold inside the restaurant and it would be great if the bathroom had a normal sink without the push button kind, ideally one that is sensor operated. These things are totally peripheral and are not influencing my overall view of the café, but if by chance anyone who manages the restaurant is reading this, maybe they can help improve the overall experience.“

“The Vienna matcha was so good, the sweet cream on top was magical.

Be careful parking in the parking lot. The security guard who is running the parking lot is not professional and will let people block your car in instead of directing them to park somewhere else. We had to wait 15 min for a woman to come out of the coffee shop to move her car. We found that that the security guard let her block us in as we were trying to move. People in LA can be very rude and extremely selfish and they will make it seem like you are in the wrong, when you aren’t. You have to tell the security guard to not let other cars block you in if you come here and to do is job correctly. You’ll see when you come here.“

“For me, this is a top 5 LA coffee shop because it’s solid and straightforward. Great latte, cold brew, and drip coffee. Laidback ambiance and no pretentious energy. Delicious pastries and cute trinkets for purchase. Staff have always been friendly. Parking isn’t necessary hard to find but I rarely get a spot right in front…just gotta do a lap or two.“

“I discovered this place by accident this morning, and what a great discovery! I only live a block away, and I will be here regularly. The shop is not pretentious, it’s nice, clean, and gets the job done. There was a line out the door when I arrived, but the single employee, who is both barista and cashier, handled the crowd smoothly with a pleasant demeanor. I ordered a Cortado because I like to taste the espresso. To me, it’s way more important that the barista knows how to dial on the machine then whatever beans are used, and this machine was dialed in and the espresso was delicious.“

“I was in LA for a conference and Jalsah Yemeni Coffee was on the same block I was staying. The owners were welcoming and the space was clean and quiet.

I ordered the pistachio latte and it was amazing. I absolutely downed it and wished I'd bought two. I went every day I was in LA, I tried a few different lattes and a cake slice. I have zero regrets.“
