“A Truly Special Spot
If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience, I cannot recommend this place enough!
The Atmosphere: From the moment you walk in, you are embraced by a wonderfully cozy and warm environment. It feels intimate, relaxing, and incredibly inviting. We sat outside and summer evening felt so nice! Our umbrella had tiny lights on the inside.
The Staff: The team here is genuinely some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Their kindness, warmth, and attentive care make the entire meal feel so special. Joanah was wonderful!
The Food: The sushi is an absolute masterpiece. The quality, freshness, and delicate flavor of the fish are so perfectly balanced that you do not even need a single drop of soy sauce. It completely stands on its own!
This restaurant is a rare gem with so much heart, and I will absolutely be coming back.

I really recommend the 007 sushi!
Also the non alcoholic beer was really good!”

“I have to share how great Judith, the manager, was today. I messed up my to-go order and put two chicken tenders instead of chicken tenders and chips. She not only not charged me for the chips after explaining the situation but gave me quite a large portion. I know chips are cheap but this small painless interaction was just so appreciated. I’ll go out of my way to come back here”

“Without a doubt, this is our favorite Russian/Ukrainian grocery store in Los Angeles! We drove a long way just to shop here, and it was absolutely worth it.
The selection is incredible—you can find almost everything from Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. It brought back so many memories! We ended up spending almost $800 because there were so many amazing products we wanted to take home.
We bought red and black caviar, fresh homemade meals, dairy products, kefir, pomegranate juice, ice cream, snacks, and so many other authentic products. Everything was fresh, high quality, and delicious.
The homemade food is outstanding. We especially loved the Ukrainian borscht, Uzbek plov, beef stroganoff, stuffed cabbage rolls (golubtsy), chicken kabobs, lamb chops, syrniki, crepes, Olivier salad, and homemade pastries. It honestly tastes like real homemade cooking.
The staff was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. The store is clean, well organized, and fully stocked with authentic products that are very difficult to find anywhere else.
If you’re looking for authentic Eastern European, Russian, Ukrainian, or Georgian food, this is the place to visit. We highly recommend this store and will definitely be coming back. Thank you for such an amazing shopping experience!”

“Finding a restaurant that consistently delivers great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere is becoming increasingly rare, which is why my experience at Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine in Encino was such a pleasant surprise.

From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely welcomed. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable right away. Whether you're visiting for a family dinner, a casual lunch, or a special celebration, the environment strikes the perfect balance between relaxed and refined.

The food was absolutely exceptional. Every dish arrived beautifully presented, fresh, and full of authentic flavor. What stood out most was the attention to detail—each ingredient tasted carefully selected, and every recipe seemed crafted with both tradition and quality in mind. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, showcasing the depth and variety that make Chinese cuisine so beloved around the world.

One of the things I appreciated most was the consistency throughout the meal. From the appetizers to the main courses, every dish maintained the same high standard. It's clear that the kitchen takes pride in every plate that leaves the door. The portions were generous, making the experience even more enjoyable and perfect for sharing with friends and family.

The service was equally impressive. The staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. They were happy to answer questions, offer recommendations, and ensure that every guest felt taken care of. Their hospitality added a personal touch that transformed a great meal into a truly memorable dining experience.

What makes Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine special is that it manages to feel both familiar and exciting at the same time. There is a comforting authenticity in the food while also offering enough variety and creativity to keep every visit interesting. It’s the kind of place where you can return again and again and always find something new to enjoy.

Another aspect worth mentioning is the overall attention to customer experience. Every detail, from the cleanliness of the restaurant to the efficiency of the service, reflects a commitment to excellence. You can tell that the team genuinely cares about creating positive experiences for their guests.

In today's competitive restaurant scene, it takes something special to stand out, and Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine absolutely succeeds. Exceptional food, welcoming service, generous portions, and a wonderful atmosphere come together to create a dining experience that exceeds expectations.

I left thoroughly impressed and already looking forward to my next visit. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for their hard work and dedication. If you're looking for delicious Chinese cuisine and outstanding hospitality in Encino, Ping Pong Chinese Cuisine is a place that deserves every bit of praise. Highly recommended!”

“Extensive menu with lots of options for sides, toppings and sauces. But the meat itself isn't that great. Both the chicken and lamb/beef were dry and not flavorful on their own. That's too bad because otherwise it's a pleasant venue with fast service. I won't be going back”

The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff is welcoming, and the menu offers plenty of options whether you’re in the mood for sushi, ramen, or something in between.

“Let me begin with the positives such as a clean area to eat outdoor or indoor and the cooking area is clean. The lentil soup is vegetarian and super savory with the dill and seasonings. The soujouk burrito is delicious with great tortillas. Please don't change the tortillas. The green Greek salad is fresh and tasty. The coffee is smooth and perfect warn temperature. The macha was perfect as well. I believe what makes this a place I will come back to are the organic good quality ingredients they use and the attention to flavors. It's important to cook with care. They do cook with care and it shows. I will keep you posted if anything changes.
The negative for me is the parking and plastic utensils. Personally, I don't like plastic. However it will not deter me from coming back.”

Abraham Bagel 16060 Ventura Blvd #108, Encino Coffee & Tea • $

“Since I was 4 years old in 1980, I have always believed Western Bagel to be the best bagel in the Los Angeles area (and possibly the world). But random happenstance had me doing business on this particular block of Ventura Blvd and craving a bagel at the same time. I went into Abraham bagel and ordered my favorite, the onion bagel. It is difficult to explain the experience; bagels are 80% texture. And Abraham Bagel wasn't just better than Western Bagel. It was a unique, interesting texture that I'd never experienced in a bagel before. A little bit harder than the Western, but also in this zone of perfection. This bagel that I ate forced me to re-evaluate my bagel scale. I am in awe.”

3.4 Good102 Reviews
Fat Sal's Deli 16901 Ventura Blvd, Encino Deli • $$

“Fat Sal’s Deli is not the kind of place you go to for a light meal or a careful, measured dining experience. It’s the kind of place you go to when you want food that commits fully to what it is—bold, oversized, unapologetic, and designed to be remembered long after you’ve finished eating.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere made its intentions clear. It’s lively, slightly chaotic in an energetic way, and filled with the kind of confidence that comes from knowing exactly what you’re offering. There’s no attempt to be subtle here. Everything about Fat Sal’s feels amplified, from the menu to the portions to the reactions of people waiting for their orders.

Ordering felt almost like making a decision with consequences—not because it’s difficult, but because everything sounds like it’s designed to be more than enough. The menu reads like a list of comfort food ideas taken to their most indulgent version, and narrowing it down becomes part of the experience itself.

When the food arrived, the first thing that stood out was the sheer scale of it. These are not modest portions, and they are not meant to be. Each item feels constructed with a sense of excess that somehow still works because it’s backed by real flavor and structure. It’s big food, but it’s also intentional food.

What surprised me most was that despite the size and intensity, the flavors were well balanced. Rich ingredients were layered in a way that didn’t feel random. There was a clear sense of composition behind each item—something that could easily be chaotic if not handled properly, but here managed to stay satisfying and coherent.

Eating at Fat Sal’s is also an experience in pacing. You don’t rush through it. The portions naturally slow you down, not because they’re heavy in a negative way, but because there’s simply a lot to take in. Each bite feels like part of a larger, ongoing experience rather than a quick meal.

The atmosphere around the dining area reflects the same energy as the food. People are clearly enjoying themselves—sometimes laughing at the size of their orders, sometimes sharing dishes, sometimes just taking a moment to process what they’ve been served. There’s a shared understanding that everyone is here for the same reason: something indulgent, satisfying, and over-the-top in the best possible way.

Service was efficient and matched the rhythm of the place. Even when it was busy, orders moved steadily, and the staff handled everything with confidence and familiarity. There’s a sense that they are used to the reactions their food gets—and that’s part of the charm.

What makes Fat Sal’s stand out is that it fully commits to its identity. It doesn’t try to be subtle, refined, or minimal. Instead, it embraces excess but still maintains enough structure and quality to make that excess enjoyable rather than overwhelming.

By the end of the meal, I realized it’s not just about the size or the novelty—it’s about the experience of going all-in on comfort food without hesitation. It’s the kind of place you remember not because it was delicate or quiet, but because it was bold, loud, and completely satisfying in its own way.

Overall, Fat Sal’s Deli delivers a dining experience that is heavy in presence, flavor, and personality. It’s indulgent, entertaining, and surprisingly well put together beneath all the excess—and it absolutely delivers on what it promises.”

Menchie's Frozen Yogurt 17245 Ventura Blvd, Encino Ice Cream & Frozen Yogurt • $

“Visiting Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt feels less like going out for dessert and more like being given permission to play with your food again—in the best possible way. From the moment you step inside, there’s a noticeable shift in mood. Everything feels lighter, brighter, and a little more carefree than the usual dining experience.

What immediately stands out is the self-serve concept. Instead of simply ordering and waiting, you’re actively involved in creating your own dessert from the ground up. That small change transforms the experience completely. You’re not just choosing a flavor—you’re building something personal, step by step.

The selection of frozen yogurt flavors offers a nice balance between familiar classics and more playful options. What makes it enjoyable is the freedom to mix and match without any pressure to get it “right.” Some combinations turn out simple and comforting, others more adventurous, but all of them feel like part of the fun rather than a strict decision.

Then comes the topping bar, which is where the experience really opens up. It feels almost limitless in a way that encourages creativity. Fresh fruit, candies, cookies, sauces—each addition changes the dessert in a noticeable way, and that makes the process feel interactive rather than routine. It’s the kind of place where you start with one idea and end up with something completely different simply because you got curious along the way.

The atmosphere inside Menchie’s matches that same energy. It’s casual, welcoming, and filled with a sense of movement and variety. People aren’t rushing—they’re experimenting, tasting, adjusting, and enjoying the process. Families, friends, and individuals all seem to approach it in slightly different ways, but the overall feeling is the same: relaxed enjoyment.

The staff contribute quietly but importantly to the experience. Everything is kept clean, well-stocked, and organized, which makes the self-serve format feel easy and stress-free. There’s a sense that the space is maintained with care, allowing customers to focus entirely on enjoying themselves.

What makes Menchie’s stand out is that it doesn’t treat dessert as something final or fixed. Instead, it turns it into something flexible and personal. Each visit can feel completely different depending on what you choose and how you combine it. That variability is part of its charm.

As I sat down to enjoy what I had created, I realized how simple but satisfying the whole experience was. It wasn’t just about the frozen yogurt—it was about the process of making it, customizing it, and enjoying something that felt uniquely yours.

Overall, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt offers more than just a sweet treat. It offers a small moment of creativity, lightness, and fun in the middle of an ordinary day. It’s the kind of place you visit not because you need dessert, but because you want a brief, enjoyable break from routine—and it delivers exactly that.”

Subway 17261 Ventura Blvd, Encino Sandwich Shop • $

“There’s something surprisingly satisfying about a place where the meal doesn’t really begin when the food arrives—it begins when you step up to the counter. That’s exactly what I enjoy about Subway.

My recent visit reminded me why this restaurant continues to be such a reliable choice. Unlike many fast-food places where your meal is decided before you even order, Subway turns the process itself into part of the experience. You start with a simple idea and, step by step, build something that feels uniquely yours.

What stood out to me was the freshness. As I moved down the counter, everything looked vibrant and well-prepared. The vegetables were crisp, the bread smelled freshly baked, and every ingredient looked like it had been carefully maintained throughout the day. There’s a certain confidence that comes from being able to see exactly what goes into your meal.

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. People were coming in for different reasons—some grabbing a quick lunch, others meeting friends, and a few taking their time deciding between ingredients. Yet everything moved smoothly. The restaurant felt organized without feeling rushed, which made the experience enjoyable from start to finish.

The staff were another highlight. They were friendly, patient, and genuinely seemed interested in helping customers get exactly what they wanted. Even with a line of people waiting, they took the time to prepare each sandwich carefully and accurately. That attention to detail makes a bigger difference than many people realize.

What I appreciate most about Subway is the flexibility. No two visits have to be the same. One day you can create something simple and classic, and the next you can experiment with entirely different combinations. That freedom keeps the experience interesting and makes every visit feel slightly different from the last.

When my sandwich was finished, it looked exactly the way I had imagined it while ordering—a small detail, perhaps, but one that reflects how well the system works. Every ingredient contributed something to the final result, and the balance of flavors was excellent. It was fresh, satisfying, and exactly what I was hoping for.

As I sat down to eat, I noticed something interesting: people seemed genuinely comfortable there. There was no pressure to rush through the meal. Instead, it felt like a place where customers could take a break from the day, enjoy their food, and leave feeling better than when they arrived.

In a world where many restaurants try to impress customers with bigger menus, louder marketing, or constant changes, Subway succeeds through simplicity and consistency. It offers fresh ingredients, customizable meals, friendly service, and an experience that puts the customer in control.

Overall, my visit was excellent. The food was fresh, the service was outstanding, and the entire experience felt easy and enjoyable. Subway continues to prove that sometimes the best dining experiences aren't about complexity—they're about giving people exactly what they want and doing it well every single time.”

It was full of customers waiting to buy the Chanukah donuts (seasonal only, I was told) and we ended up taking to our table all 14 flavors of delicious mouthful. and took another 12 special assorted flavors to go to gift to our family friend. “Our dinner last night at IHOP was outstanding. I believe the difference was the service we received from Benjamin. We were greeted with friendliness and a smile as soon as we walked in the door and were seated promptly. Beverage order taken and filled quickly. All options and substitutions we addressed and accepted. The food was delicious, exactly how we wanted it, and served in a timely manner. Benjamin made sure our drinks were always full. He was really on top of everything during our meal making it a very smooth experience. We have gone to this IHOP many times over the years and typically the service is adequate. Unfortunately the previous time we had gone it was terrible. So much so that we addressed it with the manager another day. They offered to comp us a dinner, but that wasn't what we wanted, just better service. We decided to give them one last shot before writing them off. Last night was the complete opposite in the best way. Just service that went above and beyond any expectations. Benjamin really made all the difference and he is the reason will continue to go to this IHOP.”

4.5 Superb174 Reviews

McDonald's 17641 Ventura Blvd, Encino Fast Food • $

“It’s easy to underestimate McDonald’s because it’s everywhere, but what I’ve come to realize is that its real strength isn’t novelty—it’s consistency. My recent visit reminded me why it remains one of the most recognizable dining experiences in the world.

From the moment I walked in, everything felt familiar in a way that was almost comforting. The layout, the pace, the ordering process—it all follows a rhythm that millions of people already understand. There’s something oddly reassuring about that kind of predictability. You don’t need to think too much; you just step in, order, and know exactly what kind of experience you’re going to get.

The atmosphere was busy but controlled. People were coming in and out constantly, yet everything kept moving smoothly. Families, students, workers on quick breaks—all sharing the same space for different reasons, but all part of the same steady flow. It creates a kind of shared routine that feels surprisingly cohesive.

What stood out most was how efficient everything was. Orders were prepared quickly, accurately, and with a system that clearly works at scale. Even during busier moments, there was no sense of confusion or disorganization. It felt like a machine designed for reliability, and in that sense, it succeeds very well.

The food itself delivered exactly what you expect—but that’s not a negative in this context. A McDonald’s burger has a very specific identity, and when it meets that expectation consistently, it becomes part of its appeal. The flavors are familiar, balanced in their own way, and easy to enjoy without overthinking.

The fries, in particular, had that classic quality people recognize immediately—simple, hot, and satisfying. And the rest of the meal followed the same principle: not trying to surprise, but to reliably deliver what you came for.

Service was also efficient and professional. The staff handled orders quickly, maintained a steady flow, and kept things moving even when the restaurant was full. There’s a certain discipline required to run a place at this volume, and it was clear that everything was operating within a well-established system.

What I found interesting during my visit was the variety of people using the space. Some were eating alone, others in groups, some just passing through for a quick stop. McDonald’s seems to function almost like a universal meeting point—different people, different routines, same predictable experience.

As I finished my meal, I realized that McDonald’s doesn’t try to compete with restaurants that aim for uniqueness or complexity. Instead, it focuses on accessibility, speed, and familiarity. And in that role, it performs consistently well.

Overall, my visit was exactly what I expected—but in a good way. Fast service, familiar food, and a predictable experience that feels dependable rather than dull. It’s not about surprise; it’s about reliability. And sometimes, that’s exactly what makes a place worth returning to.”
