As a ginger lover, I was thrilled with how good this was and ate my entire pile mostly plain with just with their high quality soy sauce. We couldn't help eyeballing the huge 12 piece rolls that were going out past us and can't wait to try next time.“

This restaurant has the layout, and feel of Japanese restaurants from days gone by. However, at the same time, it's very modern and stylish.

I entered with my Mom, and we were immediately greeted and seated. Our server was very friendly and had a great personality. It turns out he was very knowledgeable as well. I ordered the Salmon Shioyaki Entree, and Mom ordered the Miso Marinated Black Cod Entree. The Entrees come with Soup & Salad. The salad was subtly flavorful. With the greens, vegetables, crunchy topping, and dressing combining to create a delicious starting salad. The Miso Soup was very flavorful, and well balanced. They were both wonderful ways to start a meal. My Salmon Shioyaki was incredible. The Shio (Salt), enhances the natural flavor of the Salmon, and helps in browning, and creating crispy tasty salmon skin. The flesh was firm, yet tender and flaky. Just a squeeze of lemon, and it was perfection exemplified. The accompaniments, and rice, along with the delicious mixed Vegetables made it a complete meal. I had a taste of the Miso Black Cod. The glazed Miso flavor was undeniable, as the Black Cod melted in my mouth, ending in deliciousness.

A Japanese meal embodies that the sum of all parts, equals the whole. The Entrees here are examples of that philosophy.

The prices here are well worth it, considering what you get. The whole staff here is very friendly. Our server helped make our dining experience fantastic. We hope to see him again. We will be back,“

The best oysters on the half shell, Uni, yellowtail belly, the seafood salad is really delicious, (as well as their salmon skin salad)! The place is unpretentious orange walls, simple bar seating but Chef Go shows off with whiteboard daily catches, rare fish, and “did you just say gold leaf?” moments. It’s not casual eating. “Masa-san serves chef's choice, and the food is fresh and delicious. Eating here is an extremely delightful experience. The sweet shrimp with eggs is one of my favorites. Always finish your meal with at least 1 (maybe 2 or ...) of his blue crab rolls. The crab is carefully hand-pulled, the rice is warm, and the seaweed is crisp. You won't find that combination of quality and easy dining experience anywhere else in the Valley. Please try it!“

“The only reason I’m reducing a star is because this place doesn’t sell Thai food anymore. I found them on Google thinking that my kids can get Thai noodles and I can enjoy the sushi. They need to update their profile here as it’s deceiving.

Something the previous reviews neglected to mention. For a $100+ order and two have to take it to go, it’s definitely not what I expected. We did a picnic nearby to adjust. “My family and I have been coming to Doko Sushi for the past few years. Food is excellent and service is fast. Try their Doko special which comes with soup, protein like salmon, sushi and sashimi. The best value. And you get to enjoy a complete meal. They do not cut corners on the quality of their sushi and sashimi like some other restaurants. It’s a family run business and they care about their customers.“

“Some of you may know the Katsuya in the Americana in Glendale, well, this has nothing to do with that one (quality-wise!). This is an awesome little joint that is always stuffed with people and the food is really good. If you have ever been to an authentic Japanese hole in the wall, you know it should look like this! The only bad thing about the place are......well, the customers. When I sat with my wife, a table of 3 ladies was paying the check and they continued sitting there long after we left!

Let me give you all a free piece of knowledge: when the server brings you the check, especially without you asking, they are not pressuring you for a tip. It means the table is needed to produce more money for the night. Those girls made that table skip a turn-around and probably tipped horribly for staying 40+ minutes yapping hysterically on a table after having paid the check. The place was packed that night, that was a low ball girls!

“This is hands down my new favorite sushi place. I will never be going back to Katsuya. Joe is quite an extraordinary chef. I used to frequent a sushi restaurant he used to work at, but it wasn't the same after he left. I'm so grateful that I was able to find him here after a good hunt. Highly recommend!!!

“Nice place cute little place love it but the major problem is the tip that they force you to give is a minimum of 18% and it goes up to like 30%. This is getting way out of hand and really crazy and then they hover over you so they're looking at you while you're giving the tip it makes it very uncomfortable and you don't even let you cook less than 18%. I personally am a very big tipper so I do 20 to 30% minimum but that's cuz I'm crazy and I'm rich but I think it's not fair for regular people to have this as the only choices“
