“First thing first, the sushi is really fresh. We got the toro, salmon belly, and the yellowtail belly. Saba is a little fishy. The rice is a bit mushy but good enough.

The cooked food is not as great. The agedashi tofu has too much breading and taste average. Kaiju tar tar is okayyy.

The service however took forever, and they never come to check up on us. Servers reach over to get dishes for other tables. Maybe they are short staffed but they should still handle us probably.“

“We were greeted at the door, and given complimentary miso soup with our order. We got six different Yubu (buy five get one free). They were FANTASTIC. The torched salmon was a little overcooked, so it was a little fishy, but overall they were very good. Bulgogi and King Yubu were overall favorites.“

“I had an excellent lunch at Sushi Yuzu. The restaurant has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere, and everything I ordered tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared.

I started with the tuna sampler, which was beautifully presented and offered several different cuts and preparations of tuna. Each one had its own distinct flavor and texture, and the quality of the fish really stood out. It was a great way to sample the restaurant’s sushi and a perfect start to lunch.

The highlight, though, was the spicy tuna crispy rice. The rice was crisp and golden on the outside without being overly hard or greasy, while the spicy tuna was fresh, flavorful, and nicely balanced. It had just enough heat without overpowering the fish. I’d even dare to say Sushi Yuzu’s spicy tuna crispy rice was better than Katsuya’s, which is a very high bar.

The food felt refined without being fussy, and the quality made a casual lunch feel special. Sushi Yuzu is definitely worth visiting if you enjoy fresh sushi, especially tuna. I’ll absolutely be returning to try more of the menu.“

“Sushi Katsu-ya in Studio City is easily one of our top three favorite sushi restaurants. We come here 1–2 times a week, pretty much every week, and it has become our go-to sushi spot.

We usually keep our order pretty consistent: crispy rice with spicy tuna and a bunch of cut rolls. The cut rolls here are honestly some of the best we’ve had anywhere. Our favorites are the creamy salmon, spicy yellowtail, spicy albacore, and spicy tuna. Every one of them is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well made. From time to time we’ll switch it up with some of the specialty rolls or nigiri, and those have always been great as well.

The quality for what you pay is excellent, especially considering how consistently good everything is. After coming here as often as we do, that consistency is a big reason we keep returning.

But as much as we love the food, the staff is probably the biggest highlight for us. At this point we know pretty much the entire team, and everyone—from management and the hosts to the servers and chefs—is genuinely kind and welcoming. They always come by to say hello, welcome us back, and take great care of us. The service is consistently excellent, and there’s a warmth here that you don’t get at every restaurant.

We genuinely feel at home when we come to Katsu-ya. Great sushi, great value, an amazing staff, and a place we look forward to visiting every week. There’s a reason we keep coming back 1–2 times a week.“
