I got a combo plate and unlike other Japanese restaurants I actually got beef that was properly cooked. “The variety here is great! They offer udon, rolls, sashimi, bento boxes, perfect for any eater. They also have cooked items if you are not into raw food, or vegetarian as well.

With that said, the food is good, but not deserving of a michelin review. I still recommend you go here, as there is nothing wrong with the food, but for a cheaper price, and much nicer atmosphere, you can go to Huntington Ramen a few miles down the road.

I ordered a few rolls, ranging from $9-18 (around the average price in SoCal), and found them to be small compared to others. The bathroom is very run down, and the seating is dark and crowded.“

“Food was amazing! Tried the chefs combo(turns out the chef I had was also the owner) to which every piece of sushi had a good portion of their choice on top. Miso soup was good and tried their double salmon roll special. Very flavorful and good portion on the inside and out. Place inside is small but doesnt feel cramped, servers and chef are hospitable and ambiance is calm. Great for a date or even just to relax. Definitely returning!

I’m allergic to imitation crab meat and they had a lot of rolls without it, which is a good sign because that means the chef gets more creative with ingredients for rolls. “Shibuya 107 is lowkey with a modern interior and warm service, and really deliver on the taste like wow. And they're running deals every day of the week so you have no excuses to come check them out ;)

Love how they offer half portions on their sushi rolls, and they're really unique too, like the Lemon crunch with actual lemon in it.

The Salmon truffle was also SO truffle-y. And don't sleep on the Barbecue albacore either, this was probably my favorite thing on the menu.

But the star of the show had to be the Ribeye katsu set. Yes, this is the viral gyukatsu you can get in Japan where you can grill super tender ribeye right at your table.

And if you have decision paralysis, you can't go wrong with the chirashi don lunch set that comes with tempura and all the works.

“Top tier sushi experience. They have limited seating in a confined interior, so there will be a long wait during weekends. I waited 45 minutes on Saturday night but it was worth the wait. “Tozai is a lovely neighborhood Japanese supermarket. The store may be small, but they carry everything from your essentials for cooking (soy sauce, mirin, soba dipping sauce etc), soba/Udon (both packaged and frozen - tip, get frozen udon not packaged for the best taste, it will taste like what you get at restaurants), to ready-to-eat meals (onigiri, Japanese chicken (karaage), rolls, sushi and sashimi). Small selection of veggies and fruits. I always go to Tozai for routine Japanese grocery items and find that it suits my need 99% of the time. Sure, once or twice a year I go to Tokyo Central or Mitsuwa in Downtown to go crazy at the snack selection, but besides those rare times, Tozai is my place.“
