50 Best Salad Restaurants near Hercules

“FoodieLand created a mango sticky rice problem… and I’m not even mad about it. 😭

After shopping in Hercules, BB and I decided to stop by Taste of Laos because I’ve been craving mango sticky rice ever since FoodieLand. I had seen some really positive Yelp reviews, and after this visit, I can confirm the reviews aren’t wrong.

We started with the Prawn Blankets, which are seasoned prawns wrapped in a crispy wonton-style wrapper and served with jeow som, a sweet and tangy Lao chili dipping sauce. There are five to an order, and they were absolutely delicious.

Of course, the main reason I came was for the Mango Sticky Rice. I asked for extra coconut sauce (because we’re not doing things halfway around here 😭), and it came with fresh mango slices, pandan sticky rice, sweet coconut milk, and sesame seeds. Everything was perfectly balanced, sweet, and incredibly satisfying.

The service was exceptional. The ladies working in the dining room were warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind.

I told them I’d be back often because of my newfound mango sticky rice obsession, and I wasn’t kidding. In fact… I may have ordered another one to go. No judgment, please.

“I have been wanting to try this place for a while, and I’m so glad I finally did. The food was very fresh and delicious, and reasonably priced for the quality. The braised lamb sandwich had soft flatbread, crunchy herbs and vegetables, a tangy sauce, and perfectly tender lamb. The service was friendly, warm, and the food came out quickly. Fava is a lovely lunch spot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant lunch in North Berkeley.“

“Was really sad to see my favorite unique + quality brunch spot in the bay change format to being fast casual. It was such an easy brunch pick to take out of towners or friends to.

Now instead, they've become easily one of the best fast-casual food in the bay. So I really can't complain. I guess their format changed worked because I've eaten here more often than when they were full service. The value for the money you get here is pretty nuts. Still just as good ingredients & just as good preparation, all at a more approachable price point & form factor. What really gets me is I'm truly getting restaurant quality cooking for a unique cuisine I don't see very often, just a version that works better to-go. When you compare to some of the other casual lunch/dinner places in the area that have a similar format, it's really no competition. You'd be hard pressed to find a better way to spend $20-30/pp. I also love that they kept some of my favorite guilty pleasures from when they were a full service restaurant, like the knafe pancake.

Their in-house online ordering system is pretty slick and a good deal too. Works just as well as doordash without any of the bloated prices. Wouldn't mind seeing this spread around to more restaurants.“

“Food was very good! We got the achari paneer pizza twist, the plant based Manchurian pizza twist, and an achari paneer quesadilla (they gave us this for free)! Everything was really flavorful, everyone was very nice and accommodating of our large group. Highly recommend!“

“The food was good, but there was a significant delay with my Snackpass pickup. My order number was incorrectly labeled, causing the food to sit on the counter for over 20 minutes until I spoke up about not receiving my food three separate times. No compensation, just an apology.

Update: I've came back multiple times. I love the food, and I haven't had an issue since! Would highly recommend.“

“Jen and Cecy and the team at Cafe Soleil catered our wedding at the Brazilian Room, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious, they took care of *everything* in the venue, and they were truly a joy to work with. Cecy was very responsive, professional, and patient with our many questions and requests. During the reception, the staff was wonderful with the passed appetizers and the bar, and the servers took care of us (bride and groom) with special attention. At the end of the evening, once our guests were done with the bar, the bartender even came out on the dance floor to teach us a line dance. :-) Jen is a treasure: her professionalism is suffused with genuine warmth, and we felt well taken care of from the very beginning of the process. And did I mention the food was amazing?“

“One of my go-to sandwich shops on Solano Ave. Great paninis – can vouch for the shrimp & avocado, tuna, or vegetarian. Comes with a decent side salad and packaged in a convenient, highly portable, reusable, compostable box. Service can be a little slow at peak times, but not too bad.“

“I love Nick the Greek! My go-to order is the Nick Fries and the Chicken Gyro Pita — there’s just something about the flavor that always hits the spot. It’s seasoned perfectly and consistently delicious every time.

I’ll even DoorDash it to my house when I’m craving it, but when I’m in the area, I like stopping by to eat inside. The restaurant is always clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is fast and efficient.

“From the moment I stepped into Pinole Pizza House, I knew this would be a standout experience. The space is impeccably clean, with a vibrant energy, especially as they were showing the World Cup soccer on their big screens. The staff is incredibly friendly and professional, making every guest feel welcome. I ordered the 10-inch Crispy Garlic Veggie, known as the Veggie Gourmet, and it was a revelation. The white sauce was a perfect canvas, topped with fresh mushrooms, artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes, and a generous blend of cheese—mozzarella and parmesan. Chopped garlic, oregano, and green onions added just the right brightness. Every bite was a harmony of flavor and texture. If you love pizza, especially crafted with fresh ingredients and a welcoming vibe, Pinole Pizza House is an absolute must.“

“Cashier was very kind, good came out quick, smelled really nice. Overall just a really nice atmosphere. I got the lamb gyro and garlic sauce fries. Both are really delicious and would recommend it heavily. I like this place and the food. I will definitely be coming back. The reason why I put atmosphere has at a 4 is because it took a little longer than expected, but the food was delicious so I don’t mind.“

“I'd say the pizza is pretty darn good. And the service was excellent also. I had a plain cheese pizza then style done extra well done. My friend had a barbecue chicken. Both were outstanding. Service was also top-notch. Dining room is clean and comfortable. Bathrooms are also clean. Convenient free parking on a Saturday evening at 8:00 p.m. All around a positive dining experience. Also note, although not this particular Zachary's, but the Oakland Zachary's provided pizza for a recent work event. Pizza was fantastic. Everyone loved it.“

“I ordered multiple individual and one medium based on the descriptions and for the life of me it was about impossible to taste any difference in any of the flavors. I could barley taste the sausage. My Grub driver sat in the car for 10 minutes so that didnt help.“

“I had a wonderful experience at Olive Garden. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff made us feel truly welcome, and everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. A great place for people who value both quality food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back!“

“This establishment is always quick with their service. However, expedited efficiency doesn't make up for the packaging mistakes. The last 3x I've visited this specific location there has always been a discrepancy with my order. Not a completely wrong order, it's usually minor mistakes; waffle fries instead of yogurt fruit cup, or pickles vs NO pickles. But they've always corrected it expeditiously & with genuine apologies. I will continue to patron this establishment, but unfortunately will always feel the need to inspect my order before driving away. Plus, I'm not a fan of how they have laid out the drive thru lanes.
Overall:
My advise for the management, please have employees double check orders & specifics, prior to handing it to the customer. This in the long run will save $ & time overall.“

“We literally found Elephant Thai Cuisine by accident while picking up something nearby, and what a hidden gem in Vallejo! We have been searching for authentic Thai food for a long time. We have tried others near and far, but nothing compares to this.While the food is incredible, the experience is what sets them apart. The owner, Mr. Pooh, and his staff are warm, welcoming, kind, and attentive while remaining highly efficient. They make the experience magnificent.The restaurant is beautifully decorated with elegant, room-sized photos of actual Thailand marketplaces, accompanied by gentle, soothing music.Now for the food: indescribable! Every single dish is consistent. The Massaman curry tastes incredible on Wednesday and exactly the same on Sunday. “Huge portions, great selections of burgers, salads, sandwiches and drinks. Staff was fantastic, the food was fresh and the ranch was made in-house. It was our first time there while visiting Berkeley, I'll def come back. The prices were slightly high when I looked at the menu, but you absolutely get your money's worth.“

“We live in this neighborhood and if you know the North Shattuck and Northbrae Neighborhoods, there is no shortage of walkable dining. We just love Jerusalem Organic Kitchen for a consistently well prepared meal, friendly staff, and really good ingredients! They serve a quick, casual, healthy, and absolutely delicious meal. Everything we have tried is great with balanced seasonings. My personal favorite is the Shawarma Platter. Don't miss the perfectly prepared salmon platter with a generous serving of salmon that won't set you back an arm and a leg. The salad with chicken shawarma on top is great too. And they, of course, prepare a great middle eastern platter and falafel platter. And if all you want is a sandwich or burger - you won't be disappointed. Get the idea? We like their food and for good reason - they don't try to be all things to all people - they do middle eastern cuisine and do it really well. Try it - you'll like it!“

“So glad to find out they reopened after being closed a while during the pandemic. Currently you have to pre-order a day in advance for pickup so it takes a little planning but so worth it.Their fried chicken is so crispy. I ordered it with waffle fries and they say they only fire up the fries just before your pickup time so that they're fresh. When I went to pick up my order, they let me know it would just be a few minutes because the fries were finishing and when he came out with my order, he said he accidentally made the salad but included both the fries and salad and threw in a vanilla pudding. Everything was so delicious. Even the bonus pudding had flecks of vanilla bean and tasted so much better than the instant stuff. The chicken and fries were enough for 2 meals.“

“First time eating here this morning as we were passing through town and found this place on Yelp. Our breakfast was great! I loved the crab omelette and the bacon fried rice. My wife’s breakfast was very good also. She usually doesn’t like restaurants scrabbled eggs but these were excellent and so was her French toast. Staff were very friendly too! “I have used the Berkeley location for a few work events since they have opened and they have been amazing. Not only do they make it an easy process to place orders, but I feel the different catering options are great for all types of meetings and events. Specifically with my most recent meeting, they really helped me out because the online system said my order couldn't be ready at the time I needed it. But when I called to talk to them they were able to accommodate the time frame and my order was ready on time. Really appreciate the help and the food is always a hit! Thanks so much!“

“Ok so I’m going to be honest I actually did not eat here so I can’t truly rate the food. HOWEVER, i went quite late at night and asked to use the bathroom. They said yes and it was a very nice bathroom. There is also a courtyard outside of the restaurant with outdoor seating and shade. Very cute, quite comfortable. Highly recommend!“

“Among all the Berkeley dining locations, this is easily one of the best places. Their menu has so much variety and hot beverages that you cannot find in many dining halls! It could be very crowded so make sure you leave enough time for the line. Otherwise, awesome choice and highly recommended!“
