“I am new to IB and am just so impressed with Katy's Cafe! They are busy (so you know they're good!), but they get your order out quick. The staff is friendly, inviting and accommodating! I had my dog and daughter and they could obviously tell that I had my hands full and brought my order outside to me without me even asking. I have definitely found my go to local coffee shop!“
“Cute espresso stand, shares a space and open seating area with Mike Hess Brewing. They offer your standard offerings of espresso drinks - lattes, mochas, americanos. I visited this place twice and found it to be “pretty good.” They’ve got some unique flavors as well. I tried a Mexican mocha, and a latte, and both were tasty but pretty weak. Adding an extra shot to the 20oz drinks would probably improve the rating to an “excellent” review.
Dietary restrictions: They offered milk substitutes - oat, almond“

“IB doesn't have a Hodads that's worth waiting in line, but we have Cowabunga and their ice cream is so good and goes great with a little walk on the pier, but if you don't want to walk, there are plenty of places to sit down and enjoy. Worth the wait in line which usually goes by fast. Also, great service!“

“Randomly went into this hidden gem while visiting the island. Said I was looking for cold brew and Adrian recommended one incredibly delicious that ruined other cold brews for me. It was so smooth and had such good flavor right out of the tap. Don't know the name but it was a dark version. Wish I had access to this place where I live.“

“This place is a real treat for anyone who loves quality sound and a relaxed atmosphere. The sound system is incredible.
The Japanese beer, which pairs nicely with the overall menu. Even with just one choice, it’s a great fit for the vibe.
Everything feels carefully curated, from the sound to the food and drinks. It’s the perfect spot to relax, listen to some quality music, and enjoy a great meal. Definitely worth checking out!“

“AMAZING!! My husband and I went to San Diego for a quick getaway and wanted to try Chiefy Cafe based on the reviews. We were so glad we did as the coffee and food is Amazing! We ordered the Open Mind Fat Burner, Mexicano Latte, Acai Bowl, and Turkey Bacon Avocado Croissant. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious - we wanted to savor every bite!! The staff is so friendly and Camile customized the Turkey Bacon Avo without the bread for me, as I am gluten free. We only had 2 days left in SD and went back to Chiefy Cafe and ordered the same thing each day. Camile & Larissa assisted us and were awesome! HIGHLY RECOMMEND CHIEFY CAFE!!“

“I stopped by this cozy café on a Saturday morning in San Diego, feeling nostalgic about my trips to Kyoto and Tokyo, and ordered both the Kyoto Matcha Latte and the Strawberry Matcha Latte. The Kyoto Matcha Latte was a standout—it immediately took me back to sipping matcha in Kyoto. It had that same deep, umami bitterness that you only get with truly high-quality matcha. The only thing that could make it better would be a creamier milk, though the foam was perfectly done. It tops my previous favorite matcha latte in san diego which was previously done by PARU in La Jolla before they got their cafe section shut down ?.
The Strawberry Matcha Latte, while still good, didn’t quite match the intensity I was expecting. I anticipated the strong matcha flavor, but it seemed a bit subdued in comparison to the Kyoto Matcha Latte which was weird since shouldn’t it be the same?
still a solid 4.5/5.
The lines were long, but once inside, I couldn’t help but appreciate the café’s aesthetic. It felt like a blend of modern Japanese design with its clean lines and subtle elegance, perfect for a San Diego morning. I also enjoyed browsing through the design-oriented magazines, which added an extra touch of inspiration to my visit. Definitely worth the wait!“

“When we visit San Diego, we eat here at least 3 times. We absolutely LOVE their bagels (they are heavenly and actually give you a good amount of cream cheese!)I love the look of their merch, my only complaint is that we visit yearly, every single year I try to get merch and they are always “sold out” 😔 I dunno how everything is always sold out every-time I ask the last 8 years. Online they tend to be sold out as well the few times I have looked. It is such a dang bummer. I’d love to support with wearing merch. Still hoping one trip I’ll get lucky and they will have something in stock 😅. Also, their lemonade is super super tart. So if you like it sweet like I do, dont get it. The sugar did not help it at all and I added a ton 😂 The other drinks are good!“

“Absolutely loved this place!
Stopped by for a quick break and tried their matcha drink—so smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. You can really taste the quality of the matcha. The café itself has a cozy vibe, friendly staff, and a clean, relaxing atmosphere. Great spot to unwind or get a little work done. Highly recommend!“

“This place is as pink as it is delicious! My friend & I were so happy to celebrate our birthdays here and enjoy the upstairs tea space. They individual tea bags & their flavors are made by this shop which were smooth and not overpowering. The prosciutto and vegetarian croissant sandwiches were flavorful and filling. I really appreciated the beautiful patisserie desserts, not only were they artfully crafted, but the flavors and chocolate were rich. You can tell the owner is putting so much love into this little shop, so please come by for an afternoon tea service or a quick treat. It’s worth it!
Suggestion #1: In my opinion, cold butter pads are a faux pas for tea service. A softened butter in a small dish alongside the lemon curd and jam would have elevated the scone experience, and I did express this to management.
Suggestion #2: A visual critique, perhaps wrapping the upstairs prep station in more of the florals would help as opposed to customers looking at a purple plastic table cover (cut off from being shown in my video cuz it wasn’t a vibe).“

“I want to say yes and recommend them. But I can't because I have a subscription to their coffee but they sent me the wrong coffee. it's been about a week, I've call a few times, left two voice mail messages, I've emailed as well and I have not gotten any response at all. The coffee I bought and subscribed to is good, but I can't continue to do business with a company that won't respond to their customers to fix their mistakes.“

“Coffee
Came across this place last week when I was walking Marty. What drew me in to the front door that doesn’t scream coffee shop, were the hours. This place opens early in the morning. Like East Coast early. The coffee is good. It’s got a nice vibe, and it moved onto my list of places I will be back to.

Parking: Don’t know if the parking on the street was free or not because I parked in the parking lot. That was free.
Kid-friendliness: Typical of any coffee shop in the city.
Wheelchair accessibility: It’s a little, narrow inside, but certainly doable. Also, for a wheelchair you want to enter on the 4th Street side, right in the middle of the building. The corner door has stairs that would be difficult.“

“This is a very laid-back inviting coffee shop. It's a little kiosk on a patio with plenty of shaded seating. They offer a variety of espresso based beverages, smoothies, teas, pastries, and locally made breakfast burritos.
I had a cortado with 2% milk for $4. It was well made. It was a little strong up front, but it settled after a bit to a smooth and rich flavor. I enjoyed it very much. I also enjoyed the friendly conversation offered by the gent running the kiosk and some of the locals that visited.
Cool spot to meet up with friends, enjoy a beverage, and have some conversation.“

“Better Buzz Coffee in Coronado is a great spot if you're looking for a solid cup of coffee. The coffee was amazing, smooth, rich, and full of flavor. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve.
The shop itself has a cool, welcoming vibe and is a nice place to relax or grab something to go. The açaí bowls, however, weren't the best. The flavor and texture just didn’t quite come together for me.
Still, the coffee more than makes up for it, and I’d gladly return for another cup.“

“Met the owner and was pleasantly surprised. She knew exactly what she was doing, great coffee and syrups all home made. She took her time with each cup to ensure that everything tasted good. I had a great conversation of how she started and where she wants to take this coffee shop and I would love to come again. The coffee was more of a light roast (I prefer medium to dark) but it was still a good cup of coffee.“

“My name is Bruce. This is one of my favorite coffeehouses in all of San Diego. I love the place. It's very relaxed and low key. The service and friendliness of the staff are great. It's in a great location for people watching. It's very dog friendly as well. And they make sure to memorize the names of the regular customers. It can get crowded, due to the convention center visitors coming over.“

“Achilles Roasters is solid for coffee. There’s a couple more in San Diego and I tried one more. This one here is a hole in the wall place and you can sit outside but construction work on a high-rise over the street makes you want to stay as little as possible. The bagels are great and you can choose your bagel type and fillings.“

“I’m Brazilian, and this coffee in the picture is the best I’ve had in US since I moved here (and I’ve tried coffee on both coasts!)
The mocha I had at the store was really good as well! My new fav coffee place!
Ps. If you have a Keurig like I do, I recommend using the iced coffee mode and small size, so your coffee won’t be watery 😉“
