From the moment you walk in, the ambiance sets the tone. The neon lighting, the modern decor, and the overall vibe make it feel like an ideal date night spot without trying too hard. It’s stylish but still comfortable, which is harder to pull off than people think.

Now to the food.

The quality of the fish is immediately noticeable. The sashimi is clean, properly cut, and incredibly fresh. You can see it in the color and texture before you even taste it. The salmon had that rich, buttery finish you look for, and the tuna was vibrant and smooth with no metallic aftertaste. This is fish that’s clearly handled with care.

The sushi rice was seasoned well and balanced, not overly sweet or vinegary. That detail alone separates good sushi from average sushi. Presentation across the board was thoughtful without being overcomplicated. It looks beautiful, but more importantly, it tastes right.

Another thing worth mentioning is value. For this level of quality, the pricing is more than fair compared to other restaurants serving comparable sushi and sashimi. You’re not paying inflated “scene” prices here.

If you’re looking for a strong date night sushi spot with high-quality fish and a cool atmosphere, Sushi Palace deserves to be on your list. This is a place that focuses on freshness, execution, and experience.

In life there are only a couple of locations I eat everyday; my mom’s kitchen, my neighbors kitchen, arthur’s kitchen, tanya’s kithcen, and pokitonik. I find comfort everytime I come here, whether it’s friendly banter with Mary, or Sushi Burritos made by Arpi. I have been to multiple 5 star restaurants in my life, but nothing even compares to this glorious establishment. Where else can you combine the three of the greatest of things in life into one small building, hot cheetos, boba, and teriyaki chicken. Can’t think of one? That’s because you’ve never been to Poki. If there was a 8th wonder of the world, is would be located right here. I used to resent this building because they replaced Yogurtland, but no more. This is the greatest experience of my life.“

You have to have reservations on the weekends here as it gets pretty busy but luckily the host made something work for us I believe her name was Maria. She was beyond sweet and kind and stunning too!!! We had such a beautiful time, she gave us the best seats on the beautiful patio as we over looked the view! I highly recommend you guys go here. “We recently held a memorial, celebrating the life of a loved family member at Yamashiro and the experience was nothing short of amazing! This restaurant has great food, beautiful views and a very welcoming atmosphere so they don't need to negotiate prices. However, our party was on a budget and to our very pleasant surprise, the manager worked with us to fit the evening into our limited budget. The service was outstanding and the food, well, I'm repeating myself but, again, absolutely amazing! Some establishments are willing to work within people's budgets, but the food and service level tends to reflect the lower pricing but that was NOT the case here: We were treated as if we were the only people in attendance that evening. The occasion was bitter/sweet because we lost a loved one but, by the end of the evening, we felt as if we had spent the evening at a family member's house and we will NEVER forget this evening, on many levels. Thank you, Yamashiro, for making our evening extra special for everyone in our party!“

“Felt like I’d stepped into a time capsule when I walked in and got a large cup of boba milk tea for 2.99. Those are 2010 prices in 2026!! The drink itself was simple and not anything outstanding or gimmicky like those overpriced fancy boba drinks you might find elsewhere nowadays. But for 3 dollars, it was simple and tasted like childhood.

The store looks quite old and many of the displays are weathered, but I didn’t mind it a bit because it felt extremely nostalgic to me. The man who rang me up was also very friendly and I wish him all the best.“

“The best items we got here were definitely the dumplings, which are like soup dumplings, and the crispy pork buns which also had plenty of broth inside. I thought those were super unique, never had something like that before and I really enjoyed the crispiness of the bun. We also got the popcorn chicken which was fine, but a little bit oily and heavy to me, while the pork soup was very light and tasted very clean. Would definitely come here again, truly enjoyed the meal and it was uniquely Taiwanese.“

“This is my OG favorite Thai spot starting way back in 2007 when I moved to Pasadena! I recently went back to give it another try and it's as good as I remember, prices are now considered reasonable and even good especially the lunch specials, and everything still tastes fresh and high quality. Even some of the servers are still some of the original servers from 2007! They said they love working there. The inside is unique, used to be a wall of empty frames but they made it a bit more artsy but definitely eclectic! They also have if you dishes that are not straight tie but Singaporean or Malaysian. A lunch special for two and both of us getting one iced coffee and one Thai tea came out to a whopping ;-) $40. I think that's super reasonable for high quality Thai food and the drinks added $10. They greeted us so friendly and accommodated our requests for items on the side. Then, the next day we came back here because everything was so flavorful! “I googled "best Chinese in LA" and then this popped up as the #1 place. So we drove - and had a very good meal. However, if you expect the classic Chinese dishes, you will be disappointed. This is Shezuan, "a different animal". So no rice, no sweet-and-sour-this-and-that. So be prepared for very spicy Szechuan food. Noodles. No rice. Try the dumplings, they were delicious. We ordered mild (1 out of 5 spice degrees) and we were burning inside (we had two separate orders of dumplings - but spice grade 1. There is no consistency, so be careful). So if spicy is what you are "in" for, you'll love it. The ambiance is sort of authentic ;-) - the sign on how to use the toilet (outside the restaurant in the alley) says more than words. But then, it was $100 all-in for the four of us only. My advice: I could barely understand the service language. Better check the menu before you go. As we were first-timers, I wanted to share three starters and three mains among the four of us and leave it up to the waitress to make us explore - she did not understand. I asked if they served beer. The answer was "noodles or dumplings". :-)“
