“Great, authentic food. If you like Panda Express, maybe don't go here but I personally think this is much better than Panda. They also sell milk tea boba! I was finally able to try this place after the students finished their finals and I've got to say I can see why this place is always busy. My only issue is that it's really expensive to eat here. They sell food by weight but it's easy to get over $15 for a plate. However, they hold happy hours during the week, so you get a slight discount there. Anyway, definitely recommended if you feel like splurging on a good meal!“
“Really small location but the service and portion sizes were excellent for the lunch price point. I got the spicy honey and chili chicken with a crab Rangoon appetizer. Overall the food was decent but is missing that little bit more to take it to a higher standard, but will still “
“Omg finally hereNow come to the United States to eat Haidilao for the first time in your lifeUse two of the poor people's four squares to join the water method to reduce costsI ordered mutton, beef, fish, fried dough sticks, bell rolls, chrysanthemum, lotus root and shrimp paste. But I was so excited that I ordered the sesame soup base.No one touched the spicy soup base until the end of the meal. It was all in the tomato soup base. And it's strange. There seems to be a gap in the middle of the four-compartment soup pot, and the soup will leak to the clear soup.Same Haidilao, same people serving at the tableBut missing some manicures, massage chairs and other unexpected servicesIf you could see a face-changing show in Haidilao in the United States, I believe Americans’ jaws would drop “
“If you were to ask me yesterday where the best dumplings in San Diego were, I'd just say there are a couple of places that are okay, but no strong endorsements.Meet Dumpling has completely changed that for me; they are the real deal. This family is from Northeast China, and in China their area is famous for being 水饺 (boiled dumpling) masters.Everything we tried was "the best" (read, our favorite) version of that dish that we've had in San Diego, and any one of them would have been top tier even back in China. The flavors here are perfectly balanced, the ingredients are high quality and fresh, and you can tell the owners and staff put incredible care and a huge amount of work into this place.Their daughter is also super cute and sassy! I still haven't beaten her in Uno but I'll be trying again soon.“
“We love this place! Great value for lunch especially (all you can eat option) - the meat selection is limited for lunch but that's ok, we love the angus beef and order that over and over again. Much broader selection at dinner, costs more. Service is efficient - they bring out more meat quickly when you ask for it instead of lolly-gagging around hoping you'll eat less. The meat is freshly sliced - you can hear the slicer going (quietly) in the kitchen. Vegetables are fresh and we like the cold salads. The original broth is outstanding - just the right blend of seasonings in a rich broth. This is a cook your own of course. For families that want two different types of broth there are divided pots and several vegetarian options. Dessert is included - a small scoop of ice cream, green tea or fruit flavor of the day. Our favorite veggies for the pot are bok choy, pea sprouts and various types of mushrooms. Location is convenient, on Clairemont Mesa Blvd right off Genesee and there is plenty of parking. 5 stars!“
“Wish sign was Liuyishou Hotpot vs Liuyishou San Diego, would have tried sooner haha. Have a decent baseline for hot pot and this place surprised me. Ayce can be rightfully expensive, but $35+$3 aycDrink was very reasonable for everything offered. Place has a lax, non-pretentious feel. Several solid soup bases to choose from (Mala/Mushroom for us), meat/seafood options were great along with dozens of other staples. Food service was fast and staff were all very friendly/helpful, no sign of "being annoyed" at your requests that I feel a lot of places don't manage or temper enough. Oh and they even cover dessert. Shoutout to the $3 drink add-on with fresh watermelon juice, herbal tea and passionfruit options. Definitely making it back here. Note: We went Monday early dinner service 5pm, so unsure how it is when really busy.“
“My friends and I are so obsessed with this place. We frequent this and the Mira Mesa location almost monthly at this point ever since we found out about it. it's a bad habit at this point, really lol Order food by the pound, about $14 per lb with a lb minimum. You can pick either dry pot or soup. My favorite soups are original with some spice and curry. I have yet to try the dry pot, but I will definitely try the next time I go. I love all the pickings at the bar and if youre into intestines in your soups, they have pig intestines, which is my favorite! This may be off-putting to some people, but if you're willing to try, its fatty, juicy, and pretty flavorful! highly recommend if you love hotpot and don't want to do al the cooking on your own!“
“We used to eat at the Chins in San Marcos back in the mid to late nineties. It was our all time favorite Chinese Restaurant. We are staying here in Del Mar and ordered "to go" at Chins just down the street. Food is still delicious as we ordered Honey Sesame Duo, Beef Chop Suey, and Pork Pot stickers. Pot stickers are still the best anywhere!“
“We came here for lunch on a Saturday. I am glad we made reservation in advance because this place was packed by 1pm. We ordered a few dishes and some taste better than the others. I recommend the 干炒牛河Service is nice. Tables are very close to each other.“
“Been coming here for years but recently went about 6 months away and oh my goodness what was I thinking!? The food is delicious! I'll never be away that long again. Pork noodle and delicious all the noodles really and the best I've had in San Diego! My favorite dishes are kung Pao, pepper beef, the dumplings! Such a great family dinner spot, date night, friends night out! Go, run don't walk! And we usually sit at the bar but if you want a table I'll tell you now it's worth waiting! Enjoy??Parking: Parking can be a pain but I park on the block behind when it's busy or in the paid lot when we can find a spot... Again worth looking for a parking spot!Kid-friendliness: My son loves the noodles and fried rice“
“We love eating here. Carla the cashier is super friendly, very attentive and gave us information on how to earn points towards our food since we eat here all the time. She was very helpful and the food was delicious. Definitely recommend the tofu dishes!“
“TL;DR good spot with some amazing items (e.g. intestine spicy noodles) albeit slightly lacking in depth of soup flavor but worthy of a late-night meal Spicy Noodle is a good spot with a small selection of noodle dishes with some accompanying side dishes like lamb skewers and other from the Chengdu region of China. Most of the staff here spoke fluent Mandarin and you have an ordering system similar to what you'd find in prototypical Chinese establishments. That shouldn't deter you, this place is a good spot to satisfy a noodle craving Here's where I'll be a little bit more critical. The meal itself was decently priced around $17 for a single person ordering one item after taxes/tip. The food wasn't spicy imo and barely broke a sweat albeit I do enjoy spice so this could also be an individual scenario. The broth was also somewhat lacking in depth of flavor. It could have been that the intestines soaked up most of the flavor as the intestines were much more flavor-packed, however, I enjoy a richer broth and this was slightly stronger than the seasoning you might get with some spicy noodle packet All that is to say, it wasn't the most impressive place but the intestines noodle dish was above satisfactory simply because it's a hard dish especially cleaning the intestines from having a gritty texture. I commend them for this alone, everything else are nitpicks for me but would definitely consider returning as they had some other dishes that caught my eye like their spicy beef noodle dish“
“This is a really authentic experience I loved the taste of the plates I tryed, the lamb fried noodle was amazing! It is also a popular dish in this restaurant.THEY MAKE THEIR OWN NOODLES and you can see through a glass window how they make them ✨“
“Everything about this place was so good ! The service was amazing host and waitresses explain and walk you through everything so you can have a good experience. Meats were very good quality and affordable . Went here for date night and we were not disappointed. Great place to bring friends and family . We ordered the two soup option , beef combo and veggie combo and some pork belly . Super worth it !“
“Having food allergies and ordering to go food can be so dangerous for me, I'm SO thankful I finally came into this place. It's absolutely delicious, everything is fresh and even though I declined sauce, the woman said "oh, u have to have sauce with it, it makes a huge difference" I informed her about my food allergies and something had to be left out and they made me special sauce, and it's DELICIOUS. I keep coming here, because it's on the way home ?? BUT I also want to mention that I have taken a gargantuan amount of orders for doordash customers, obviously it's good. I believe 81-89 are vegan options, which is greatly appreciatedVegetarian options: 81-89“
“Family styled comfort food. We ordered the House Sauce Noodles with Pork, Thai Styled Fried Rice, 10 Chive and Pork Dumpings and Prawn with Spicy Minced Pork Noodle Soup. I really liked the Prawn with Spicy Minced Pork Noodle Soup but everything tasted good too. Can’t go wrong at this restaurant! Also it can get super busy as well.“
“Solid place for a variety of Chinese food. We've had delicious meals here, twice cooked pork, chow mein, baby bok choy, sautéed pea shoots, pork and shrimp dumplings, salt and pepper fish, hot and sour soup. There is something for everyone. Everything has always been really good... considering everything is going up, they've kept their prices fair and reasonable. It is in our regular rotation.“
“Authentic Cantonese food!! The roasted duck and the soup of the day were absolutely the highlights that reminded me the taste of home . And they gave you free tong sui (dessert) afterwards. The other dishes were pretty good too. Highly recommend. Call in advance to book a table if you can or be prepared to line up for a table during dinner hours.“
“I love coming here! This noodle restaurant is a hidden gem amid the vast wonderland of UTC. The broth is nice and soft, and the flavor of the soup is rich and savory. Portions are adequate, too. Overall, I recommend dining here, whether for lunch or dinner; it’s spectacular.“
“One of my go to spots in San Diego. Every time I've been the food is always great and I find myself craving it when I haven't been. Highly recommend the eggplant with garlic sauce, probably the best eggplant I've had. The service is always quick and they staff is super friendly, the ordering is also self-service online vía a QR code which is convenient and easy to use. Overall 10/10 would absolutely recommend and will be back!“
“Just authentic top notch Shanghainese cuisine. We appreciate the dedication and effort of the restaurant, allowing us to enjoy genuine hometown dishes. The service has improved significantly since the soft opening. The speed of serving has also increased considerably.H1. Shanghai Pan Fried Noodle, G5. Shanghai Pork with Bamboo Shoot Soup, B2. Duck Seasoned with Soy Sauce, E4. Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetables are our favorite dishes.Thank you Chef Zhu for your exquisite craftsmanship!“
“This place has just become number 1 in my list. We go to so many different places in a regular week and the meat at this place is so delicious, they deserve like 10 stars. Plus the charcoal BBQ is another game. Best dinner of the month so far. People working were also super nice and attentive. The local was clean and the atmosphere and music is good. I'm definitely looking forward to come back soon. Good job team!Edit to add:I was here yesterday again. Only two days after the first time and again I can o ly say that it is going to be incredibly difficult to find another Korean bbq that can top this one. I shouldn't say this much because the wait might get even longer but to be honest it is realllyyyy good and I can't get enough. I'll be back in another 2 days.“
“Family run sushi a-la-mexicana!! Food truck sets up Friday-Sunday and offers extensive menu of Japanese and Chinese favorites, including delicious sushi rolls. My Alaskan Roll hit the spot. You can also call and order ahead of time. Will definitely be back to try their other plates and rolls!“
“I got the orange chicken with chow mein & the shrimp and pork steamed wontons & every single item was a 10/10! The chow mein is the best, most flavorful chow mein I have ever had, the orange chicken is crispy & sweet, & the wontons were tender & very flavorful. Portions are worth the price. Highly recommend!“
“Fortunate Son in San Diego offers a delightful experience for those craving authentic Southern cuisine with a twist. From the moment you step inside, the ambiance envelops you in warm, welcoming vibes. The menu boasts a tantalizing array of dishes, each crafted with care and bursting with flavor. Whether you're indulging in their signature fried chicken or savoring their mouthwatering barbecue selections, every bite is a taste of culinary excellence. The attentive staff adds to the charm, ensuring your visit is nothing short of memorable. Fortunate Son is a gem in San Diego's culinary scene, a must-visit for anyone seeking comfort food with a gourmet flair.“
“Came here to try their mapo tofu after having an extraordinary version of the dish at Taste of Chengdu in Orlando.?Although it didn’t reach the excellence of TOC’s version, this was nevertheless very good.?There’s a bit of a language barrier here, but communication was adequately achieved with pointing and gesturing of various sorts.?Ambiance was about as expected for a smallish strip-mall restaurant of this type.“
“Black bean noodle and deep-fried pork came out pretty fast. Both are delicious! The noodle is bouncy and chewy, the black bean sauce is sweet and not bitter at all. The tangsuyuk is crunchy and the sour sauce compliments it so well. This is a big serving for 2 people and it’s only $27. You can’t go wrong with this combo. 10/10“
“This is definitely not my first time here and I really don't know why it took me so long to write a review. So lazy! Anyways.. the service here is always amazing. They have a huge craft beer selection and wines I believe. I only come here for the food! We had the chow mein with beef, spring rolls, fried tofu, combination noodle soup with flat rice noodles and roasted duck noodle soup with thin rice noodles. Al were delicious. The roasted duck was flavorful and not oily. Love the clean taste of the broth. Can't ever go wrong with spring rolls. The tofu might have been a tad bit over fried but it's not gonna hinder this review. The chow men was delicious. The noodles were deep fried and it held the gravy well. When ever we are in the area we always stop by.“
“This place is located in a plaza among other cuisines. The restaurant itself is fairly small. Parking: plenty of parking in the plaza parking lot or street parking if available The restaurant offers dry hot pot meaning that it comes in a shareable pot that keeps the food warm. I got the pork belly mixed with veggies garlic flavor and the beef slices with potatoes & broccoli spicy flavor. The food itself was basically comfort Chinese food, it comes with noodles or rice depending on your preference. Overall, the dishes were a tad bit salty but if you eat it with rice it balance out the flavor. Def give it a try if you want something different from the usual hot pot.“
“Love their salt and pepper chicken wings! Now I don’t need to drive all the way down to National City for this wing! All other food we ordered were delicious. Waiters were friendly and efficient. Sitting/table space were adequate. Will visit again.“
“We were in San Diego this weekend visiting friends and family for Easter and decided to have dinner at PF Changs. What a great decision, we were lucky enough to be seated in Bell’s section and we were impressed by her professionalism and attention to detail from the moment we were seated until we left. The food was fresh and hot, ambience was great we will definitely return next time we are in town.“
“A no-frills restaurant which serves consistently good Cantonese style Chinese food. This is our family go-to place for Chinese dinner. This is my born-in-China-mother’s favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is fresh and well prepared. The walnut shrimp is my favorite. Also like the black pepper steak. Their dim sum is excellent - on par with the other popular dim sum places in town. Prices are reasonable. Service is friendly.“
“The restaurant space is quite cramped but the staff's ability to regulate customers is quite good, you don't have to wait too long if you don't book a table in advance. The food is very delicious, perhaps this is the reason many Koreans come to eat here.Parking: There is free parking right in front of the restaurant, but because the parking lot is inside the building, there is constant competition for parking spaces.“
“Food is very authentic and delicious!! We ordered beef fried rice, chicken fried noodles, vegetable combination, dry pot chicken, pork chili. Their was only one server so he was a bit overwhelmed and he did his best with a full room. For a party of 6 our bill was 110.31 so very well priced!!Definitely coming back“
“Honestly the best Chinese food I've had in San Diego, the language barrier might be rough, but just be patient they will not disappoint! I've had almost everything on the menu for the past 3 years and can highly recommend! The only complaint I have is that they don't answer the phone sometimes so it's a “
“The food has gotten really good at Shanghai Bun. We have been ordering take out about once a week for the past several months and have not been disappointed once! The broccoli beef is a favorite. Tender beef, perfectly cooked and NOT fatty with crisp broccoli. Kung Pao chicken also a favorite!!!“
“I've been coming here for many years. Very cute om and pop style place. Not fancy at all, but quality food at a great price. I love the green pepper beef lunch special and get it at least once a week, but everything else I've tried there has been great, as well. Very good value.“
“This place can get very busy fast. Find a good seat be ready to order and enjoy. My favorite is Shrimp Wonton soup w/o the noodles. The shrimp/pork combination is great. Fresh crunchy veggie and an amazing soup! Service is always fast and friendly with hot tea for you.“
“2/25/2024Hong Kong BBQ Kitchen has authentic Cantonese food. Big portions with good price.Friendly and fast services. The ladies always have a smile on their faces.Delicious food:salt and pepper chicken wings - loved it! Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside, not dried.Orange peeled chicken: not over fried like many restaurants. It has hinted taste of orange.Spring rolls as appetizer: has 8 pieces in an order. Crispy and the temperature is just right when brought out! Tasty.Salted fish and chicken fried rice: an authentic Cantonese fried rice dish. Good portion of salted fish in the fried rice. It satisfied wify's craving. Will definitely return for more.=================4 years ago:Came here to buy some roasted pork for the Lunar NewYear. We ended upp with 2+ pounds of roast pork, 1/2 of a chicken, and 2 orders of fa gao (a light sponge cake).Service: good. Server was nice to tell me about the choicess of chicken. Knowing that I was buying food to celebrate the lunar new year, she told me about a celebration in the nearby public library. Was smiling all the time when we carried a conversation.Food: surprisingly good quality!!! The skin of the roasted pork was crispy. The meat was seasoned with the right amount of salt and spices. Each piece was cut perfectly and assembled nicely in the box, see picture. I sometimes get my roasted pork from a store in Clairemont Mesa. This place has better service and quality! The sponge cake has good texture and not so sweet.Like this place and will visit again for bbq takeouts.“
“I ordered the Jjajangmyeon Tangsuyuk combo on Doordash. The price was really good and was a big portion. I asked for uncooked noodles as well and the noodles were super fresh and chewy. I wish the noodles had more meat and the pork was kinda tough. Overall, would order again“
“What a delicious meal. It's so rare that you go to a place that each dish you order is a 10/10 but this is one of those places! We came here for lunch on a Saturday morning, party of 6 and they were able to seat us right away. We ordered a cucumber salad, shrimp chow mein, Mongolian beef, Dan Dan noodles, fried rice with ham, Xiao long bao, cumin on, vegan dumplings, pork bao, and fried chicken... So basically mostly everything on the menu. The chow mein was love at first bite, and the cucumber salad (not pictured) had a sauce that was drinkable. The vegan dumplings were an excellent option! Zero complaints and we were very happily surprised by everything we ordered!“
“Updated reviewCame here again a year later and I have to say the food is very good. Had the ox tail soup, curried fried rice, fried dumplings, sweet and sound shrimp, and king Lao chicken. Everything was very good, fresh, and came out quickly. Service is still hectic though.———-I really wanted to give this place a better rating because it is really the only halal Chinese spot in San Diego. The food was ok and the service was ok. But I probably would not come here again. We ordered a few different dishes but many of them tasted the same. The lamb cumin was very different than other lamb cumin I have tried. This one was like doused in cumin powder and didn’t have any red peppers which at other Chinese restaurants always do. The beef soup tasted like pure soy sauce, just full of sodium. The curry fried rice we ordered is not what we got. My friend said last time he came it had a yellow sauce on top, this time was just a normal fried rice dish. Not sure what’s going on there. The place was very busy but the service was fast and felt hectic. The owners really should hire at least one server and not try to do everything on their own. I really hope they can get better because it is a nice spot.“
“Their Chow Mein is better than other chow Meins I have had from other Chinese fast food restaurants. Their chicken is tender and fresh. Service is quick and lady server/ cashier is polite. Tables and floor are clean. They give good portions of food too. I definitely recommend this place!“
“It’s like kinda improved version of Panda Express. $10.75 pretax for any combination with more than 10 choices. These two dishes are freshly stir-fried, rather than prepared and left there to keep warm. Chow mein and fried rice are much more delicious than “
“Didn’t know this place existed until I stumbled into Sieu Sieu BBQ restaurant while visiting another store in the same plaza. No frills restaurant but authentic Cantonese BBQ! When they were chopping the roast pig in pieces, I can hear the crispy sound of the skin. 3 hours at dinner time, the roast pig skin is still crispy and the meat was perfectly seasoned (not too salty)!!!Also got a salted chicken. It was cooked just right, no blood still in the bone. Meat was juicy and tender. They also gave a big container of ginger onion condiment for dipping sauce. Yummy!Price is still a little cheaper than other nearby BBQ stores. Plenty of parking spaces. This is the place for roasted pork and BBQ items. We will be back for more!“
“Generous with their portions, nice employees, food was pretty good! I ordered beef and broccoli with orange chicken as my two meat portions - the beef and broccoli had a fish taste to it. Orange chicken was good though! Fried rice was also very good!“
“I love this place I’ve been coming here for years and the lady, I think she’s is always so nice, it’s a predominantly Latino neighborhood so she speaks in Spanish and treats everyone like family. Of course the food is delicious and the place is always clean.“
“You can rest assured about the taste. Basically, it’s delicious. The sausage, eggplant, and beef are all delicious. The lotus root sandwich generally feels like the stuffing has no flavor. The glue is not fragrant without pork. This restaurant has a high turnover rate. It’s pretty reliable. of ~“
“This is my go-to Chinese food take out spot that reminds me the most of north east Chinese food (Philly transplant). Last time I went in it was too salty but I will continue to order from here because it’s the best in the area in my opinion.“
“We dined at Mandarin House Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed our entire experience. The food was extraordinary and the staff made us feel as though we were guests in their own homes. Our two entrees were perfectly prepared with the sauces complementing the main ingredients instead of overwhelming them. The taste and texture of the accompanying vegetables were exceptional. We appreciate the attention to detail and caring attitude of the restaurant's dedicated team, and we will definitely return often.“
