“I’ve been coming here all my life. I have traveled a lot and nowhere I mean NOWHERE makes better sweet bread than here. My favorite are the concha’s. They are super soft and delicious. And anytime I make my way down from San Diego I make sure this is a MUST on places I visit.“

“If u haven't noticed this little Bakery before.., it is probably bc 1) .. of it's lack of a HUGE sign in the front of the store. 2) ..u are not a 'Local' resident, who knows about it & probably pass it by when driving thru Glendora Ave., from Old Valley Blvd., & the Historic District, to Hacienda Ave. Word up! I like it bc they have been there since who knows when?? ? And they make a variety of the 'typical' bread u will find in many Hispanic Markets.. But? They also make Breads & Pastries that are unique to this Bakery, as well as Tamales, Champurrado, & Deli type sandwiches & breakfast w/ self serve Coffee bar & tables to sit & enjoy ur morning ? Pan y cafecito. Mind u the place is relatively small so there is a line very early, that usually shortens as the day gets later. I highly recommend a visit here when u have the time to relax. “I love Porto’s, this was my first time a this location and I had the most amazing experience today. The amount of parking this location has, so much seating space indoor and outdoor, and let’s not talk about the amazing customer service. I order the chicken milanesa and the dulce de leche latte both so delicious you can never go wrong with neither. I am so amazed on how often the workers will stop by my table to ask how was the food, if we needed anything else, helped clean our table and brought us to go boxes. Staff here is so friendly and nice. While having lunch manager james passed by our table, he was super friendly, and nice and we told him how amazing the staff was. “Found this store on Eater LA and came on a Saturday. It was cheerful to get the limited special cake — chestnut tiramisu! The chestnut cream is so yummy! I also like the blueberry and lavender cake with jelly on top. Excellent combination! Their dac biet is the perfect sandwich and their daikon and carrots are light and bouncy with fresh jalapeno with the right amount of pate and butter. They have it down to perfection, nothing less. Had an open house and served it for homebuyers and they were blown away! Highly recommend! Cafe sua da is gold too, loved the shaved ice in the coffee and not too sweet. The ladies in the back are super sweet and you can buy the baguettes and freeze them, then 350 f for 6 mins in toaster or airfryer. Get the egg rolls, and pa te so is good too. My clients loved their vegetarian banh mi too!

I visited in the morning for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised. Their Croissant Sandwich was a great choice—crispy on the outside and filled with ham, cheese, egg, and lettuce, making for a satisfying and protein-rich meal.

For my drink, I tried the Black Sesame Latte, but it was a bit disappointing. The sesame powder didn’t dissolve well into the hot milk, and no one informed me that it needed stirring, which affected the overall taste.

There are plenty of seats, but a few downsides for those looking to work or study here:

No power sockets, which makes it inconvenient for long stays.

No WiFi, so it’s not the best place for remote work or studying.

Not dog-friendly—only service dogs are allowed, so pet owners should take note.

“I was looking for an Oreo cake and this is the only bakery that had one near me. It’s inside the grocery store, near the right side entrance. Everything looked delicious and fresh. But best of all is the service! The kind man that helped me was so sweet and even gave me a few baked goods to go for free. It really touched my heart. Will definitely be back and recommend.“

For those that go for the first time, you go in and grab a tray and a pair of tongs and place all the bread on the tray and once you have everything you want, you take the tray to the lady at the register and they will bag everything for you and then you pay. Today’s pilgrimage finds me in Sierra Madre at Syndicate, a fantastic find nestled comfortably downtown on Sierra Madre Blvd. Plenty of street parking and a beautiful place to take a stroll if you don’t score a spot immediately out front. The vibe is instantly welcoming, decor is colorfully minimalist, that’s probably not a thing, but it’s the best descriptor I have. The baristas are friendly, skilled and true devotees to all things coffee, even willing to share some potential sites to visit on the next LAtte stop. The coffee itself is excellent, rich, flavorful and no hint of bitterness. I went with oat milk this time and it paired perfectly with the blend, rich creamy, delicious! I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit should you find yourself in the area, or even if your not- expand your horizons and make it a destination, it’s worth it.“
