From excellent specialty coffee and breakfast/lunch fare, with a mix of self service made easy and convivial. At dinner gets even better - exotic and exquisite food and wine (what a list! Even by glass), well portioned and presented, all paired up with excellent service from David - guiding you from food through wine and sequencing it all for ultimate delight. A piano which a patron played on during my last lunch made it all the more memorable. A must try neighbourhood gem!“

“Oysters looked good but I opted for the crab melt. I thought the crab was decent. The bread was nice and toasted which was a plus. Otherwise I thought overall the place was ok. Small seating area which is understandable considering where they are located. Could be a fun spot with the right people.“

“I bought the oyster combo with DoorDash and I absolutely loved the deep fried oysters. The fried breading was very tasty and the oysters tasted like they were cooked just right.

I chose potato salad for the side, I liked it, however, I do not know if they make it fresh.

The combo also comes with a Shasta brand soda, but cola and lemon lime are the only offered flavors.

I definitely want to order from here again.“

“This is real hood chicken, real soul food. Highly recommend the fried chicken and catfish... unbelievably good. FYI, not a sit down restaurant, but plenty of good parks within distance of the restaurant to eat at and take in the sights of oakland“

“Tides is a great place to dine! The restaurant is lovely: well spaced tables; beautiful lighting; very nice art work; comfortable chairs and banquettes; and an excellent color scheme. The food is wonderful: we started with a dozen oysters and crab cakes and both were delicious (we were a party of four); our entrees were the excellent blackened halibut (one guest did not care for the spicey topping, so cut that off, but the other guest devoured the fish with gusto), the sea bass was perfect, and the scallop risotto outstanding; everything was prepared beautifully and plated beautifully, too; portions were just right; for dessert we shared the lava cake and butter cake to rave reviews. Service was excellent: Robyn was our server and she was everything you hope for in that position; she timed everything nicely; she made great suggestions; she was warm and friendly; she checked for our satifaction with each course; she made sure our water glasses were filled when needed; and she did not rush the end of the meal after presenting the bill. If I had NOT ordered an expensive bottle of wine, our bill would have been about $350. For the vibe of the restaurant, the quality of the food, and the excellence of the service, Tides is a geat value; I highly recommend Tides!“

The owner is very nice and is always busy at work either helping up front or assisting in the back. The pot stickers are the big juicy hand made kind, with quality ingredients. “Great seafood boil restaurant! The place was decorative, and fairly clean for a seafood boil restaurant. The service was great, and the servers and staff were all really friendly. They had great prices, and their crawfish was HUGE! For the interior, it was really cool to see all the different people who ate there, and their decor was great. However, I feel like the lighting could have been a bit better, and have more brighter lights. Although the lights were a bit dim, the food makes up for everything!“

“We stopped in got some Fish & Chips (cat fish) and Onion rings and soda.As a very picky Aussie who loves good Fish & Chips most stores here in the US I’d score at a 6/10 but this little hole in the wall shop it’s easy an 8/10 the chips where good size the fish was average size for all the US stores I’ve tried but this little store the batter was crispy and the fish cooked perfectly the onion rings where good the Chips where very good but I feel a few extra minutes in the oil would have made them a perfect Crispy outer and hot and fluffy“

“First of all the people that were in there getting food talked to me about how great it is before I could even order. I was excited. I ordered a Super Burrito with ground beef and everything. I also ordered a taco. When I saw how many ingredients were piled up on that taco and saw how the only way he could close that taco was to envelope it in aluminum foil I was amazed. But then when I picked up my bag containing one burrito and one taco I swear it was a couple of pounds! The burrito was huge! And delicious! And the person taking my order and the person making the orders were very pleasant. I will definitely be back many times.“

“My wife and I love this place. This is our go to for lunch. I always get the BBQ Beef with Rice or the BBQ Chicken with rice. Everything here is delicious. I’ve tried the Chicken Pad Thai, Yellow Curry and Rice, both BBQ plates and next I want to try the seared Duck. We come here at least twice a month for lunch. It’s a cozy little place and very welcoming. The hosts are always friendly and smiling. The food is delicious and the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I make the drive from Antioch every time because this place is a Home Run every time!“

“This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in the Bay Area. Where else can you get authentic Bun Bo Hue and Mi Quang, except maybe San Jose and SF, and they give you a ton of veggies, unlike most restaurants. Plus you always get a grissly bone with your Bun Bo Hue, and pork blood, otherwise it wouldn't be authentic! If you like vietnamese food, you gotta come here. Trust me, I grew up eating vietnamese food and have been to Vietnam, including Da Nang, where my wife was born, and it doesn't get much better than this. 5 stars“

“Judging by its name you can't really tell what kind of Chinese food Ark Chinese restaurant offers. I think it was probably a noodle restaurant focusing on items from northern China. However it seems that the new owners have hired a cook that can also make Cantonese dishes. As a result the menu is more extensive and there are quite a few selections to choose from.

We ordered the pan fried green onion pancake, hand pulled beef noodle soup, tomato beef chow mein, beef stew noodles and sweet sour ribs. All were fairly good but I should note that the flavors were quite intense...as in too much salt or too much sugar. If you do pay a visit, keep that in mind. You may want to tell them to cut back on the salt and spices.

More importantly the prices are quite reasonable for a restaurant on Park Street in Alameda. Entrees, dinner items, generally run around 15 dollars or so.

The decor is ho-hum but the dining room is certainly quiet....perhaps too quiet , or maybe we were there too early. They could use some flowers or some paintings to liven up the place. Maybe play some K pop or something. The wait staff are friendly and helpful though.

if you're looking for an inexpensive place to eat before you see a movie or just in the area, give Ark Chinese restaurant a try. The food might assault your taste buds but the prices won't assault your wallet.“
