“We stumbled across Peony Chinese Kitchen and are so glad we did- it was by far our favorite restaurant in Laguna Beach! We enjoyed our meal on the patio and had a great view of the beach. The food was excellent! Fresh ingredients, cooked well and they even accommodated a special request. The family style shrimp wonton soup was superb! Highly recommend!“

Everything we ordered was excellent. We knew the crispy lamb buns (aka Chinese Burger) was going to be good, but not sure about the $20 fried pork which was #1 chef recommendations, it turned out to be delightful.

The lamb soup came out first, it was tasty and refreshing, Liang pi was cool, you don’t get it in many places. String beans were nicely done, a delicious necessity to balance out the meal.

The first bite of crispy lamb buns was a delightful surprise: crunchy layered thin bread and lamb with slightly cumin, it was an amazing feast.

Fried pork is an even more interesting surprise that I would not spoil. Ha ha. Try it to find out!

Service was fine, we were seats and water was provided quickly. Orders are done by scanning QR code, browsing the online menu, and order directly. I find this efficient but lacking some personal interactions.

We did purposely ordered a lot for the two of us, we obviously didn’t finish. I was surprised the bill wasn’t as much as I expected. We got a lot of leftovers to go and enjoyed rest at home.“

“Our server, Michelle T, was outstanding in every way. She remembered serving us in the past and was so welcoming and genuinely delighted to see us. She went out of her way to make sure that the cocktails we ordered were prepared perfectly by speaking directly to the bartender. When we asked about dinner specials we had in the past she found us those special menus and also reminded us that we could get a bottle of wine for half price on Wednesdays.. She checked with us frequently to make sure everything was perfect. She is truly an asset to the restaurant and we will always try to request her when we come back.“

“Even the setup is easy. I liked being able to pick my own ingredients and broth without it turning into a whole thing, and the bowl still came out balanced and full. The bone broth had a distinct flavor that held up the whole way through, rich but not tiring, and the add ins felt fresh with plenty to choose from. Taste was good, which stood out right away. Blame covid for the price increases and there are sign posted to make you aware of the increase. it's the best food and most reasonable prices in town. if you cant afford a 11 dish then don't buy or complain about it. “Great hidden gem for rice‑noodle lovers in Irvine! The Xinjiang spicy noodles are rich and flavorful, and the Sichuan pepper fish rice‑noodle soup has a wonderfully fresh broth. Appetizers and the new milk tea drinks are surprisingly good. Staff are friendly and service is quick. The dining area is clean with a relaxed vibe. Fantastic value for money, perfect for casual meals or group visits. Will definitely come back.“

“One of the most authentic and yummy XLB places. The waitlist can be a bit long during peak hours, but their system takes care of it. Services are fine too, just sometimes a bit monotone as they are very focused on their tasks. Simple and clean environment while we can also buy togo frozen XLB to steam at home. “I love these unassuming places that make fantastic dishes.... The owner was kind and welcoming.
I ordered the Singapore mei fun it wasn't on the menu but it was probably the best that I've ever had. The mixture of shrimp and pork and chicken, the vegetables were just perfectly crisp with tons of flavor and the mei fun noodles perfectly cooked. Definitely ask for their secret recipe chili oil, you won't be disappointed!

Location is in a shared kitchen facility together with many other small businesses. Clear window showing their kitchen so you know all the food are made fresh for you. A must try place overall!“

The Lemon Iced Tea used Jasmine based tea which I didn’t quite like. It was not stated on the menu as I would not have ordered that.
Ordering is by scanning the menu which can be switched between Chinese or English. In English mode, choice of Less Salt, Less Oil, Less Spicy was still in Chinese. Staff helped to translate for me.
Pork Belly skewer was a bit too thin. I preferred the Lamb ones which was listed as ‘Beef’.
Eggplant and Braised Pork with Preserved Vegetable were good. I got more hungry as I ate them.
Sichuan style Chive n Pork Dumplings were juicy.

We have been coming here for the delicious food for a few years but in small groups so we wanted to share the experience with whole family when they were in town. The staff was fantastic especially Kenna who was so thoughtful kind and accommodating and the food was fresh and delicious like always.“

“Food is delicious!!! We went during lunch on a Tuesday and it was pretty full. Most were Chinese. You know the food is authentic when their own people are there. I just found this place recently and now I've become a fan. Their Xiao long bao is huge and so good. People say they are a din tai fungus dupe but with better prices. Also their beef scallion pancake was humongous and sooooo good. We also got their orange chicken which was one of the best I ever had. Everything we got here was so good. I ordered through DoorDash last night, and I was absolutely blown away. I had seen this place before but had never tried it. When I came across it on DoorDash, I looked through the menu and decided to give it a chance—and I’m so glad I did!

Let’s start with the chicken egg rolls. When I took my first bite, I was genuinely impressed to find large pieces of white-meat chicken and vegetables inside. And the flavor? Absolutely delicious! The fried rice was just as flavorful, and the House Special Chicken was another standout.

But the pan-fried noodles with beef and vegetables deserve a special mention. This is one of my favorite dishes, and I’m always excited to find a restaurant that does it well. I really appreciated that the noodles were packaged separately from the beef, vegetables, and sauce so they wouldn’t get soggy during delivery. That little detail makes such a difference! Once I poured everything over the noodles and took a bite, I knew this was one of the best versions of this dish I’ve had in a long time.

Not only was every dish outstanding, but everything arrived hot! I even had some of the leftovers for lunch today, and they still tasted amazing. From the flavors to the thoughtful packaging, the entire experience exceeded my expectations.

I like to try restaurants for myself rather than rely solely on reviews, and Kaleyard made an incredible first impression. You will definitely be getting more orders from me, and I can’t wait to explore the rest of the menu.

“I just wanted to take the time to really thank Pick Up Stix at the Lake Forest location. I always have had a great experience here - whether it be for the food or the customer service.

Recently, I decided to venture off my usual choice - Chow Mein - which I think is the best ever. Unfortunately, the new dish I ordered was subpar, I called the restaurant and spoke to a nice lady (I forgot her name unfortunately), she went above and beyond just replacing the meal. And I really appreciated it. Customer service like this is now rare - but she was so nice about it. A) didn't make me feel low or stuck-up (I hate that feeling esp when the vendor makes the mistake) - this was not the case here B) replaced the meal with another of my choice C) And added a generous extra item on the house

The second I smelled it, I knew I was gonna love it. It’s very very soft and smooth tofu cubes in one of the most delicious sauces I’ve ever had. The texture of the tofu and the flavor of the sauce hit exactly the right spot. So good!!! And eating it with a side of white rice makes it even better.

Also, I loved how the restaurant was decorated. It was so cute.

One very very small thing: for take out orders, I wish the forks were not so small and flimsy. But that’s not a big deal.“

- Braised Beef Noodle Soup had flavorful and tender beef that was delicious! Had the almost melt in your mouth experience. Be aware that even for a mild, it was spicy. So if you don’t like any spicy at all, this is not a dish to get.
- Yunnan rice noodle bridge was nice to see how it is all setup before you put everything into the bowl of soup. It is very hot so be cautious especially if you have little ones. The soup, noodles and fixings were good. My little one liked the soup and noodles so much that he had almost a whole bowl by himself (he’s only 3.5 yo).
- Free dessert in the stainless steel container by where the eating utensils are. Option was limited with just aiyu jelly and oranges.
- Service was friendly and food was served in a reasonable time.“
