“great mediterranean spot in sf with a super welcoming vibe. i got the octopus and the cold dip mezze and both were so well-prepared. the bread was fresh and warm, and the dips were packed with flavor — couldn’t stop eating them. they also have a great wine list that pairs perfectly with the food. would come back in a heartbeat, especially for a cozy dinner or group meal.“

“I had lunch here on a Sunday, shortly after they opened up. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. I had hummus and chicken kabobs. The tabouleh was very good with lavash. The hummus was creamy and thick. The kabobs were tender, and served with delicious vegetables and rice. The hot sauce added a nice tang without too much heat. The interior is charming and has a sense of bright, dreamy relaxation. I’ll definitely be back.“

“Quick and friendly service. There are clearly marked vegetarian items as well as options to be made vegan. The food is high quality and the falafel is so delicious. The portions are also on the larger end. Thank you for a nourishing and satisfying meal.“

“After a very long time working in the financial district my former coworkers and friends met and caught up in the old stomping ground. We used to bring our clients and had Company's holiday at Sens. Or just enjoyed the happy hour after work. We chose Sens as the perfect place to talk, relax and dine. The server, Oscar, was patiently waiting for our order as we kept on talking endlessly. For drinks my friends got ice tea and Arnold Palmer for myself. So refreshing drinks for the day. We ordered the Mediterranean spread. The warmed & pasted bread with salt & sprinkled olive oil made the spread tasted so good. We have more spread so we asked for more pita bread. One friend ordered hamburger with salad & two of us got the chicken sandwich & salad. The chicken was moist and tasty. After lunch with had the regular coffee and cappuccino for myself. The atmosphere, food and service were exemplary. We don't mind returning even though we are retired.“

“Super yummy hummus plates, falafel, kebabs and salads. Found this gem while on a walk in China town. Not easy to find, but once you know where to find it you will come back again and again. Sooooo good.“

“I’d been trying to find a place that sold Dubai chocolate bars in San Francisco and finally found it at Cafe Elena! Their Dubai chocolate bar is awesome! Dark chocolate, pistachio filling, not too sweet. Family-owned business, wife makes the chocolate bars, super friendly owner.“

“Perfect spot for a quick lunch. I first tried the food from Sajj in San Mateo. It was a "regular" lunch place for many at my office. Now that I occasionally work in SF, I was please to find a Sajj just a block away. Love that the food is fresh and bonus that it is full of flavor. I take advantage of ordering ahead and picking up on my schedule.“

“Perfect place for a date night. It is usually packed but we love sitting at the bar. The food is delicious. We usually get the mezze platter and octopus. We’ve also tried the kunefe (small but really yummy). We love the atmosphere here as the bartender and waiters are super nice and they generally leave us to ourselves (a refreshing change from most American places where you get interrupted quite a lot). The decoration is beautiful too. All in all: I definitely recommend Dunya.“

“Love this new waterfront dining option close to the Ferry Bldg. Will definitely come back. We had: Dips with flatbread, saganaki (unique spin), rice, fish, veggies, cheesecake (excellent). We liked every dish. Restaurant was quiet (Monday evening). Dining on back patio had a pretty bay view.“

“I smelled it before I got there no always looking for “the right food cooked by the right people!” I had a bowl with chicken which I could cut with a the plastic spoon 😍 with rice and lentils very flavorful too with the Israel salad all that flavor in one bowl was the best by far! My friend who’s vegan was very satisfied had a falafel bowl which she started eating as we walked down the street! She had smashed it by the time we made to the tables at Union Square. The food delicious the portions huge and the price right! On another note when we arrived they were out of rice and of course they made me some fresh very much appreciated ❤️“

“We ordered the house combo and it was very tasty. It came with 4 meats(chicken, beef, gyro ,koftedes). All of the meat was juicy, tender and well seasoned. The rice. was fluffy ans delicious. The mixed green salad had tomatoes amd cucumber and was topped with a pickled cabbage and dressed to perfection. I only had a small bite of the pita because rhe meal was so filling. I can't wait to try the baklava we ordered. What a great find. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant.“

“My wife, son and myself went to dinner tonight and food was absolutely amazing. Staff were polite and friendly and full of enthusiasm about the food. The braised lamb shank melted in your mouth and the greek salad was so refreshing and the tomatoes were so fresh that I felt I was in a garden picking them myself. The green hummus was full of fresh herbs and I didn't know what to expect but luckily the owner brought a complimentary plate out because I was so full from all the food we got that I felt guilty for not being able to finish it.“

“My go-to wine bar with a full menu that’s diverse, delicious (Mediterranean and so fresh), and very fairly priced. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about all the wines they offer. In particular, Tim, the head sommelier is a pleasure to talk to and has taught me so much about wine over my many visits. It’s rare to find spots like this where the service, food, and drinks are all aligned in value and quality. One of my staple recommendations to anyone visiting SF (try the filet kabobs and grilled halloumi!)“

“Ayola holds a special place in my heart. I used to frequent Ayola at least once a week when I worked in San Francisco. I work outside of San Francisco now, so it's not as easy for me to come get my fix. I still haven't found another place that tastes as good or better Greek/Mediterranean food.
My favorite is their Chicken Gyro, and their fries are just as amazing. Pairing it with their hot sauce is phenomenal!
On the floor level, there's a few tables to sit down if you wish to dine in, and there's a few spots to sit on the upper level as well, but it's a pretty tiny shop.
The owners are super friendly and are always happy to see their customers!“

“Cheap, simple and filling. Way cheaper than oasis grill. A lamb/beef shawarma is standard and the meat tastes good, priced about 12 bucks. (oasis is around 21 bucks) Good serving size too. The lamb/beef is halal thankfully, heads up the chicken is not halal. Overall I like this since it's convenient, quick, saving. Staff is extremely friendly. Go to in the neighborhood. Will be visiting more often.“

“My husband, myself and some neighbors walked over last night and celebrated a birthday with some drinks. One employee didn't seem stoked that it was busy but our waitress Christina was absolutely wonderful. Attentive, friendly and made me want to go back just to hang out with her! If you like gin the Crushed Velvet cocktail hit the spot.“

“Great drinks, food, and ambiance! Food was so fresh and delicious. We had salads and a pizza. The crust was light, crispy, and chewy. The toppings were flavorful and just the right amount. We didn’t have the pasta, but it looked amazing.
It was so good that we even stopped back the next night for a nightcap and to watch the end of the Warriors game. Both of our servers/bartenders were wonderful.
We missed it while driving by because their sign is smaller and on their awning. It’s not lit like the one next door, so we didn’t know they were a separate establishment until we walked by.
If you’re thinking about it, go! You won’t be disappointed.“

“Total hidden gem in SF. It’s low key and does take out only, but don’t let that fool you, this place rivals SF’s finest establishments. I moved in a few blocks down the street and have been ordering take out almost every day as I unpack. I’ve tried the chicken hummus plate, meatball and rice plate, and the Beyran Soup. Literally each dish was 5/5 amazing. The soup was the best soup I’ve ever had in my life. Super rich flavor, but not overly salty. Just right. Honestly these folks should turn into a full fledged restaurant.“

“Clean, quiet, nice area. I like European cuisine (Cyprus, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, Germany) - I can say that it's not bad for pork without marinade, but it's not Greek souvlaki - just portioned pork on a skewer. French fries want to be better (dry). An acquired taste. I wish to listen to the comments and make the food more colorful and traditional.“

“I recently had the pleasure of trying the falafel at Nick the Greek, and it was nothing short of amazing! From the first bite, I was blown away by the perfect blend of spices and the crispy texture on the outside, while remaining soft and flavorful inside. The freshness of the ingredients really stood out, making it clear that they prioritize quality.
The falafel was served with a delicious tahini sauce that complemented the dish beautifully, adding a creamy richness that elevated the entire experience. I also appreciated the generous portion size—definitely a great value for the price!
The atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. If you're a fan of Mediterranean cuisine or just looking to try some fantastic falafel, I highly recommend Nick the Greek. I can't wait to come back and enjoy it again!“

“My fiancée and I adore this place. We visit wine country half a dozen times a year and always make a point to stop here. Everything is super fresh and delicious. A side salad with your choice of meat is more than enough. Grab a bottle of the crazy good rose and an extra dipping sauce for the Greek fries and you’ll be set.“
