But the food is excellent! Their tortas are my favorites. Every time I go to LAX, I make it a point to stop at La Ventanita (which means tiny window in Spanish) and order something to go. And their prices are more than fair, so try it out and find out if you will enjoy it as much as I do.“

“With my wedding just a month away, I’ve been having so much fun preparing the menu and exploring different restaurants to create a beautiful variety of flavors and nationalities for our reception. I sampled chicken from four different spots around Los Angeles—each one had something going for it, but none felt quite right for our big day. One was a bit dry, another a little too crispy, and another slightly too salty.
Just when I was considering renting a large barbecue grill and cooking the chicken myself, a friend suggested I try this restaurant. It’s a true hole-in-the-wall spot tucked along a very busy street—exactly the kind of hidden gem you might overlook. In fact, on the day I stopped by, there were multiple emergency vehicles less than a block away. That might make some people hesitate, but I decided to trust the recommendation and give it a try.
I ordered the half chicken meal—and I’m so glad I did! It was absolutely delicious. The flavor, tenderness, and seasoning were spot on. Even my son agreed, and he hadn’t liked any of the other chicken options I brought home for him to taste.
In the end, the incredible taste made it completely worth stepping a little outside my comfort zone. Without a doubt, this is the chicken we’ll be serving at our wedding reception. I’m so happy to have found the perfect place!“

Al pastor is fine but not great. Gringas taco was best of the lot and is a ton of food, but again, flavors just aren’t there. Much better options out there.“

“What's better late night snack than Ave 26 tacos? It's located in a parking lot, and we pulled in around 10pm on a Sunday night. People from all colors and all walks of life seem to converge here in search of scrumptious bites. There's a security guard that patrols the area so you could enjoy your chow without hesitation. It's standing room only, no utensils or sitting area provided. We decided to eat in the car as it's a bit chilly that night. There's also a portable water station to wash hands before or after you dig in.

There's a separate line for tacos or burritos or drinks, pay in cash or Apple/ Samsung Pay. Simple and orderly. Then, head over to the condiments section for different types of salsa, chopped onions or lime. The Al Pastor, Carne Asada, Cabeza and Lengua are usually my go to, but there're also brisket, pork belly, chorizo to choose from.“

“This was our very first stop in Los Angeles, and honestly, Benny’s Tacos set the bar impossibly high for everything that came after.

The bowl was absolutely surreal, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly put together. But the real showstopper was the burrito. I’m not exaggerating when I say it’s the best burrito I’ve ever had in my life. The combination of pinto beans and carne asada was pure perfection, smoky, tender meat with creamy beans wrapped in every bite. The kind of thing you think about long after you’ve left.

It’s a quaint family run Mexican eatery transporting you through time (back to your childhood with the juicy fruit gum) and space. You are part of the family here. My favorite part of the experience was eating the steak fajitas and the carnitas tacos, as I reminisced on childhood meals with my parents when we were first introduced to Mexican food in the US. “La Fonda of Inglewood was a really good experience overall. The food was good, the space was clean, and the whole restaurant felt inviting from the moment we walked in. It has a low-key, relaxed atmosphere, but also a fun personality that makes it stand out. The signage throughout the restaurant is in both English and Spanish, and some of it includes jokes and puns, which gives the place a lighthearted and welcoming feel.

One thing I appreciated right away was that they start you off with one free serving of chips, salsa, and bean dip. That was a nice touch and a great way to begin the meal. They also have a self-serve water station, which is convenient, and even that area has personality with a themed word search.
