“Stopped for lunch a couple weeks ago. It was our first time dining at the Grateful Gypsy Bistro. I had the fresh pasta with bolognese, Hubby had a burger. We both were beyond impressed. My Bolognese was delicious! Best I’ve ever had from a restaurant. Imo- better than the one at Pasta Moon! Hubby’s burger was equally delicious… Food was amazing! Portions were plentiful. “Between Jackson and Stockton on Highway 12/88 in Lockeford halfway between the two is the best place to stop and get a cup of coffee so Chelsea next time you're in the area coming up to visit and Jason wants a cup of coffee treat yourself and stop at Day-O espresso. It's better than that one that's on every street corner from Seattle I think and not as expensive.“

“The ribs are juicy and flavorful! The tri tip is ok, good brisket but need to cut to thinner slices. The potato salad is uniquely good, also the Mac & cheese is good - dry type not the gooey texture.

“My colleagues and I came in to share a meal and it was great, but not just because of the great food and music playing in the background. Our server, Kimberly, was a delightful lady and was always coming in to check on us. We’d finish our waters or our meals and she’d come right up to the table as if on queue despite how busy she was. “The Asada Street Tacos were decent. The salsa was okay, could’ve been better with more heat or atleast the option for more heat. The jalepeno was nice and spicy, but the radish seemed a little old.

The surprising bit of it all that made the meal was the marinated fried onions. They definitely made the tacos. The service was great and quick. Definitely would go back.“

Update: 2026: I must admit, after living in town for the last few years, I can safely safe this place has the BEST Garlic Naan in lodi. That's a bold claim but its true, it has an unmatched light and crispy edge without getting too dry. My wife broke her diet when the Naan got brought out. The Beef Skewer was rich and easily the quality of a far more expensive restaurant.“

“I love that almost all the great local wines are available in the bar. The ribs and pesto are my favorite, and have had that more than 100 times. I like the bar and old side. I absolutely hate the new open table area in the the back and refuse to sit there. They need to give that a little more character. It is too open and noisy with poor quality tables and chairs. They could make some large booths and maybe even a curtain around the booths to quiet it down.“

Yet the winery flies mainly under the radar. There is no wine club, yet there are very reasonable prices for delicious wines, red and white. Drop in off of busy highway 99 and enjoy a tasting trip with their friendly and knowledgeable staff. You'll soon feel right at home...“

“This place was phenomenal especially for the price big scoops of protein lots of options. The price had gone up and the scoops have gotten smaller. Rewards are hot and miss I have spent $70 and received one point but they don’t tel you that. Of you have multiple bowls to multiple transactions. Also I did a Instagram promotion and they changed their mind and I lost my reward 🙄. Staff is always late teens young adults mostly nice some are better than others. Still a solid place .“

“Enjoyed the outside patio, very roomy and they had picnic tables. Dog friendly too. We were served 6 wines in plastic shot cups, which one then poured into wine glass. I liked the 2022 Old Ghost OvZ which is herby and has a great finish. Staff is very friendly and informative.“

“We knew we were cutting it close and would be say last. And while we could tell that or chef was tired and wary from the day, he treated us well. Half of our habachi table spoke Spanish as a first language and our chef happened to be bilingual. His attention to that family created a warmer and more connected experience for us all. He was a good sport, flinging eggs and showcasing the aerodynamics of shrimp tails to a mostly quiet table. As a first-time occurrence in my own experiences at either shi-ra-soni locations, our chef aquiessed to a request for grilled jalapenos. Inevitably, he needed to step back from the grill top once his face and entire sinus cavity had been invaded by the bristling of the fresh capsaicin oils that permeated the air around us all. Another first for me- I'd never seen one of the chefs from this restaurant , in 20+ years, take a human moment for themselves. Yet, with every time his utensils touched the peppers, so then did they receive a wipe with his cleaning cloth before they contacted the other food. My children gave no sign of unconsented spicy flavor as they readily ate their fresh food. We appreciated the waitstaff as well; our server promptly noticed when we needed fresh napkins and was on point with refills. We've come back over 30 times, and that is a conservative estimate, over the years. This visit gave us no reason to discontinue our patronage. Well done, as usual.“

“Really liked the red flight, they let you try a good range of wines without being pushy at all. The guy helping us was super chill and knew his stuff which made the whole tasting way more fun. Only thing is the seating outside could use some shade, it gets pretty hot in the afternoon and we were roasting.“
