Robin Menlo Park 1300 El Camino Real Ste C, Menlo Park Japanese • $$$$

“Fantastic evening at Robin. The omakase restaurant had a hip, night clubby feel to it as the interior was dark with dance club music, but the sushi was definitely worthwhile. Erin and Abby provided friendly and efficient service, which contributed to the overall positive experience. Free parking lot next door makes it easy to find a parking space.”

The Sand Hill Kitchen 2400 Sand Hill Rd, Menlo Park American • $$

“The food was absolutely delicious. My wife and I took our three month old baby there for breakfast one morning and everything was delicious! Especially the coffee! The place is very well designed with high-end tables and chairs and decorations. The overall feel of the building on the inside and out is well thought of plan and placed well

Our only complaint was our waitress. She seemed like she could give a rip about anything. When asking some simple questions about the items on the menu she practically rolled her eyes to go ask the chef some questions. When we were finished with our meal, she came back with the check and we asked her if we could have another coffee, and I swear that I was either pulling her teeth or torturing her by asking for another coffee. She kind of grunted and slowly walked back to get what we had asked for. Our whole overall experience would have been awesome if it was not for the service. I highly recommend finding new help.

Also, there were only six customers total in the entire place (including my wife, and I ) when we were there. She was not being overworked or overwhelmed…. she literally hated every moment of being there from what we could tell.”

“I've been a big fan of Bistro Vida for years. I'm addicted to their roast chicken and laid-back French bistro vibe. Their new venture, Bar Loretta, which is next door, looks interesting. But there's one flaw that drove us nuts last night: the music from the bar was loud and pounding. It really interfered with the conversation and broke the French vibe. Please rethink your playlist. The Mandarin 1029 El Camino Real, Menlo Park Chinese • $$

“Stopped by The Mandarin Chinese while hoping for some great Chinese food in town. The location was convenient, and the space itself is quite nice, with the added bonus of upstairs seating. Service was smooth; we came on a Friday evening, got seated right away, and dishes arrived in a steady flow.

Unfortunately, the experience was a bit mixed. The sizzling rice soup was disappointing; it came out lukewarm and didn’t sizzle at all, with a watered-down broth. Definitely underwhelming.

That said, the rest of the meal was much better. We ordered Spicy Beef Tendon, Salt and Pepper Tofu, Garlic Snow Pea Leaves, Eggplant in Spicy Sauce, and Kung Pao Chicken. Every dish was flavorful, and the Szechuan-style seasoning really stood out. The beef tendon dish, in particular, looked and tasted great.

Overall, while not everything hit the mark (and prices felt a bit high), the main dishes were strong enough to make it a solid option for Szechuan cravings; just maybe skip the soup.”

Che Fico Parco Menlo 1302 El Camino Real, Menlo Park Italian • $$$

“Food was really quite good. The drinks were noticably skimpy - I'd say half a pour for wine compared to most places. Mains took a while, but without us asking, the server brought a free appi (burrata, which was excellent). I really enjoyed the eggplant parm, and my date enjoyed her tortellini. The place seemed chaotic and disorganized, but at least the food was tasty and the servers pleasant. And sorry, I know the cookies after the meal are free, and I feel like I'm being ungrateful, but just say no. Nuf said.”

Settled on a refreshing soursop, it had seeds! My friend got a dried fruit and he said that grew on him. There are many other flavors to try next time. Service was nice, there are a couple of tables to sit and eat other snacks that they make as well. Her recipes are delicious and traditional. My favorite one is the raspado de Guanábana (soursop). It’s perfectly sweet and the pieces of fruit are delicious. I have also tried and liked her limon, rompope, vainilla, coco, nuez, mango con chile and chicle flavors.I recommend also trying their tostilocos with everything plus extra hot sauce. They are super delicious and a very generous size. Her fruit cups are also really good. The fruit is always perfectly ripe and fresh.Definitely recommend when you’re in Redwood City. Atmosphere could use some touch up but also it's not intended to be a hangout spot like a coffee shop, so I can't fault them on that.”

“We came in for a late lunch and had a wonderful experience! We ordered a side garden salad, the beef meatballs, a veggie pizza, and a pepperoni pizza. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and quick! The meatballs were delicious. Our waitress was very kind, attentive, and made us feel right at home. Will definitely be coming back.”

Octopus Japanese Restaurant 925 El Camino Real, Menlo Park Japanese • $$

“We were looking for a new place to try and Octopus had some great reviews/ pictures of their sushi rolls. After looking over the menu we decided to head on down. Friendly staff got us seated right away and we started with a round of appetizers. Gyoza, chicken karaage and a Toro Nigiri special started off the night and everything was delicious. Ordered 4 rolls and a bento box combo and everyone was extremely satisfied with the food. Can't wait to return and explore more of the menu”

“When I pulled up to this location there were trucks galore parked all around the surrounding area. There was a line of blue collar workers about 15 deep. I order their pulled pork sandwich and it was great. Also, their potato salad was the very best I've had at a deli. What a gem of a location and my go to spot for lunch when I'm in the area.”

We enjoyed the **Garden Omelette** with fresh veggies and Monterey Jack cheese, the flavorful **Veggie Breakfast Burrito** with feta and pico de gallo, and a refreshing **Seasonal Yogurt Parfait**. The **Breakfast Sandwich** with ham, avocado, and aged cheddar on a toasted croissant was a highlight. The friendly and helpful staff made our visit even better. Tea Friends 993 El Camino Real, Menlo Park Bubble Tea • $

“I had such a lovely experience here! I stopped by last week while doing laundry next door, honestly in a pretty bad mood. Kelly (I think she’s the owner?) greeted me with such kindness and even offered me a complimentary Oreo smoothie — it completely turned my day around!

When I came back this week, I was so surprised and touched that she still remembered me. The drinks are refreshing and delicious, but it’s the amazing customer service and genuine smile that really make this place special. Highly recommend!”

Guapa's Mexican Grill 515 El Camino Real suite 110, Menlo Park Mexican • $

“This place is a step above Chipotle, the sauces and salsas are pretty good, and their menu of pre-set flavor combinations is also pretty solid. My friend got a custom quesadilla and loved it, and I got one of the vegetarian nachos option (which was *loaded* still, so if you're veg, you'll definitely not go hungry), and we both got Jarritos to drink. They have a full bar, too, which we didn't try at all, so we will have to come back for happy hour.

Vegetarian options: Lots of protein options (bean varieties, cheese varieties), and lots of toppings to make your nachos/tacos/quesadilla loaded and delicious.”

“I go here all the time- since I go to the middle school down the road it’s very convenient. I ALWAYS get this drink- Strawberry lemonade, normal sweetness, no/less ice, 2x lychee jelly, 1x mango jelly. It’s always so good every time! The tofu cubes are not good but I don’t like tofu in general so that’s just me. It doesn’t take too long- but really depends on how busy it is. The staff is nice but doesn’t talk much. The atmosphere is nice too! I love the vibes of this place. I don’t get tapioca boba but the lychee and mango jelly is so good, especially if you love jello or stuff like that. It’s chewy but not too chewy, and very sweet. I recommend if you like fruity/sweet drinks.”

Taqueria Guadalajara 1211 Willow Rd, Menlo Park Mexican • $

“This place is pretty tasty. They are under construction, but have big tables out front. The plates are an ok deal, like the asada plate for 14 bucks, or a torta for 8 bucks. But the prices are really high for a modest joint! With small tacos at 3 bucks each, lunch with a drink is about 20 bucks! Maybe I am getting old but 20 bucks should buy you more than a plate of 4 tacos. Did I mention they were tasty? Very tasty!”

“I've bought pizza here twice, the first time it was perfect, my favorite in the area. Strong undercarriage, good quality cheese, crispy pepperoni. But yesterday it was overdone, burned in some places and the crust was tough and crumbled like a cracker upon biting. My impression is that Avanti can make great pizza, but it's inconsistent.”

Nuf said.”

“The food is very good. We split the tea leave salad and it was very generous size. We also shared the branzino curry which was smaller in size and coconut rice and a bread plate. The servers were very pleasant. We will return. The table was a bit noisy because the other side of the partition was the kitchen. There were few people in the restaurant because we were having an early dinner. I would ask for a different table next time.”
