“While not an expert I grew up in Detroit eating gyros as often as hamburgers. Hands down the best gyro I have had in ages. Warm soft pita, crisp fresh veggies, great house made sauce and really tasty gyro meat. And always friendly service from the owner. Small seating area so may need to plan to do take out versus eat in.“

“This tiny little jewel of an establishment has extremely delicious and freshly made meals that you can eat in or take away. The hummus is unbelievable, the dolmas melt in your mouth, and the falafel perfectly crisp on the outside and light on the inside. There are lots of interesting Mediterranean treats for sale, almost like a gift shop but the fresh meals and desserts are a must -try. The owner is super relaxed and nice, the place is immaculately clean, and nice chill music plays overhead. I have a friend who regularly visits from Los Angeles and insists we go there and says “if I lived here I would eat here every night”.“

I live in the South Bay and most places over there don't get this dish right. 5* from me, for the Karahi Gosht and Naan. “Amazing service. My kids couldn’t handle spicy. Even though he already made the food, he still changed the flavor for me last min. Truly one of the best in town. You must come here and try it out. Every flavor is delicious. My kids just couldn’t handle one of the flavors because it was a little spicy for them. I personally love all the flavors.“

“This restaurant food is much more better than other Pakistani Indian restaurants all around the US. Chicken biryani & seekh kabob was so delicious authentic Pakistani flavor specially the Tea which is so so so good like Pakistani famous Pathan’s tea and we never had an experience before this in US. “Ive been eating at Shalimar for 27 years-I have eaten 100 if not 1000s of Indian places globally including NY LA UK DE GE etc. THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE. I had it tonight and sometimes its like how can it get better than that one time and then it is. The Tikka is unique and 1000% its own recipe apart from any I have ever found. Its simple but mega flavor, not overtly creamy a little oily but it the Tikka I compare all others too. Now I have had Indonesian that dresses up dishes like no other but for straight up dishes its the jam. Also the oven baked tandooris are over the top good too. Too bad Im moving finally from SF. This place is very much a part of me and my history, all the old times with friends (even the old Polk location)....all the conversations with staff, so friendly and nice. It will be missed!“

“Perfect spot for a quick lunch. I first tried the food from Sajj in San Mateo. It was a "regular" lunch place for many at my office. Now that I occasionally work in SF, I was please to find a Sajj just a block away. Love that the food is fresh and bonus that it is full of flavor. I take advantage of ordering ahead and picking up on my schedule.“

“Sashi Singh my pal from down in Stillwater Canyon was in the city and invited me to dinner in this Afghani Restaurant he found. Well, I haven't had camel hump in years, so I said sure! We met up at De Afghanan Kabob House and had a great dinner. I have no idea what we ate because Sashi ordered for us, all I know is it wasn't organ meat, and it tasted pretty good. 5 stars ☆☆☆☆☆“

“We ordered the house combo and it was very tasty. It came with 4 meats(chicken,beef,gyro ,koftedes). All of the meat was juicy,tender and well seasoned. The rice. was fluffy ans delicious. The mixed green salad had tomatoes amd cucumber and was topped with a pickled cabbage and dressed to perfection. I only had a small bite of the pita because rhe meal was so filling. I can't wait to try the baklava we ordered. What a great find. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant.“

“I went for lunch and got the combo 1 with seasoned fries. The portions were large, and the fried chicken was very crispy and juicy. Might be on par with the fried chicken at Jollibee and McDonald's in Asia. The fries were mediocre though. Only complaint is that it took relatively long to get the food“

Interestingly, based on a previous review, it seems their mood can vary—perhaps it's just the nature of working in the retail restaurant business. One thing to note is that the restaurant feels more like a takeout spot, as all food is served in takeout boxes, even for dine-in customers.“
