“This place serves authentic cuisine with delicious options. The dungeness crab in garlic and butter sauce was amazing. All the side dishes that come with it were tasty with my favorite being the garlic noodles. Mango and Coconut ice cream at the end was the perfect touch. Great place to order family style and share several entrees. Highly recommended.“

“Really good Chinese BBQ place. All of the bread items we tried were flaky and tasty, highly recommend the brown sugar one. The skewers were all solid, and I appreciated that the beef had a more teriyaki-style flavor, because too much cumin starts to get a bit sameish. In that regard, you should consider getting an order of the lettuce leaves to use as a wrap for the skewers, it's a great palette cleanser and adds some nice texture.

Would love to go again, but it's a bit far from my house and Chinese BBQ isn't something you can do too frequently.“

“Found this little gem while on a layover at SFO and the food was amazing! I had the Curry Sliced Beef Ramen and it was probably the best I’ve had. The ordering technology threw me off but I got over it quickly, it is 2025. As far as atmosphere…..just a bunch of people quietly eating lunch. I only gave the service 2 stars because it is an online order and someone just deeply it off at the table. Would definitely recommend though.“

“Food is really good. And also good value. It’s usually not busy but tonight between the walk in to go orders, third party app and walk ins they were slammed. A good neighborhood spot that can also do banquet style cuisine. I recommend this place especially when the weather turns and you need hot food that tastes great!“

“This place has very tasty and authentic Hong Kong style food, even though it’s name makes you think it’s Vietnamese. In particular, the breakfast sets are a good deal. One of the sets that I like in particular includes a big bowl of rice porridge and rice rolls or steamed Chinese greens. If you pay one dollar more, you can get a Hong Kong style milk tea. All for around 13 or $14 dollars. You have to come before 11 AM. What I really like about the food here is that they don’t overwhelm the flavor with spices. Most dishes have very little or no salt and even the sugar is moderate in the Hong Kong milk tea. So basically this place seems very healthy. And if you need more soy sauce or salt or pepper or whatever you can add your own.“

“The manager made certain the restaurant was still open for us as we could not arrive until 10:00pm from our flight.We quickly selected our appetizer and main courses. The food was brought quickly. It was very tasty and served hot. The waiter was very nice and quite attentive. Great place! It is rare for a restaurant in an airport to be so good.“

“This is an interesting place, primarily known for their omakase (I think), but we came for the tsukemen. The tsukemen was tasty and presented with a dipping sauce warmer set up. I gotta say the egg was perfectly cooked, but I don't know if we really needed the bamboo shoots and mushrooms given the dipping setup.

The ambience is good and there is a unique water and condiment setup that makes it standout, although it also crowds the table a bit. Nevertheless, it's unique and adds to the charm of the place.

Service was great and we chatted a lot with the lady who was covering our table. She gave us a lot of background on the work they did to get the current menu in place and tweaks they are planning going forward.

Overall, this place was a refreshing change of pace. Tsukemen is not that common, the ambience is different, and the service was super engaging. I will definitely go back to check on the evolving menu. Highly recommended.“

The dishes were fresh and well presented. Ordered the Tom Yun Shrimp noodles and Keema Curry Rice. Nice Japanese infusion of flavors and techniques on South East Asian regional dishes. Can get pretty busy during lunch rush. We got there at 1:45pm and beat the rush.“

“I have finally gave this place a visit after driving past it many times. Upon arrival, I was lucky to get parking upfront, was greeted by their friendly staff and seated immediately. Their menu is simple and cocnsists of many different noodle soups to choose from. The interior is modern and looks like they have just been renovated. The wait for the food was not too bad, either way it does not bother me since I’m a very patient person. Lastly I would recommend this place for soup lovers or anyone looking to try something new. I would be back to try out other items they have to offer.“

“Why has it taken me so long to write a review of Noelani's? I first encountered this little slice of island paradise because I joined an ukulele meet-up group that would play here together pre-COVID. Lots of selection of Hawaiian staples and favorites, always served up in generous portions. My favorite is the bar menu, which is also extensive and fun - haven't tasted them all (yet), but what a great value for the glass full of fun they pour. Live island music is always a treat and everybody is friendly.“

They specialize in bingsu, but their menu is huge, offering everything from popcorn chicken, to rice plates and noodle soups. If you're in the mood for dim sum, they have that too!

I ordered the popcorn chicken, wonton noodle soup, and matcha bingsu. The popcorn chicken was notable because it's made Chinese salt and pepper style, which made it really fragrant and savory. Not many places do it this way, but I think they should! Wonton noodle soup was also pretty solid, and the matcha bingsu was refreshing. The chewy mochi made every bite delicious and I would definitely come back here for a full meal, or just for dessert!“

Had we known that the pad kee mao didn't come with tofu we would have asked for it, so next time we will, but that's nitpicking. Very fast service, noticeably so. Location great for those in San Mateo or Foster City (and this restaurant is much better in my mind than Sweet Basil, I'm sorry). The pad kee mao dish was huge and we had to take home half of each plate (we got two, next time one will be enough, but we took it home and plan to enjoy later)“

“Earlier this week on Sunday, I was craving some Korean fried Chicken, which I never had before. I did a search on Google and came across Bonchon in San Mateo. The first experience I had, I was not happy with my order because it was not accurate. I ordered an 8 piece, but only received a 4 piece and because it’s through a 3rd party nothing could be done. I decided on Monday I would order this time directly from the restaurant. Everything worked out, and I have to tell you even though my order was not right the first time? This did not take away from the quality of the food. I ordered the drumsticks extra crunch? No sauce, and the first time I ordered with fried rice, both were excellent. The seasoning, it was rich with flavor, and I have absolutely no complaints. The second time on Monday I ordered the same chicken a 4 piece, the corn with the mayonnaise, cheese and red pepper flakes, with a side of steamed rice. Everything was just perfect. I’m not kidding you it’s taking everything in me to control myself from ordering more today, and it’s just Tuesday. It’s just that good! Whoever the chefs are, you can taste the love in their cooking, it’s not just thrown together. There is Love in their food, and know this because my Mom’s food is just the same. Every bite is good. I don’t say these things lightly when it comes to restaurants. There’s not too many that impress me like this. All I can say is keep the love in your food, and don’t change the quality even if you have a million customers, don’t change your food. 5/5 for me, it’s a must try if you love fried chicken or Korean food. I don’t have pictures this time, maybe next time if I can upload I will. The chicken is so crunchy that even when it’s cold it’s still good and crunchy and not soggy. The presentation was beautiful as well. My wife had the Sushi Salmon Paradise and loved every bite, and my father devoured the Megabite roll. “A no-frills place for authentic comfort Chinese (and a few other non-Chinese but still Asian) dishes that is very convenient for those arriving late at SFO airport (they open past midnight). Walking distance to a few hotels or to a bus stop along El Camino Real, which passes several hotels in the area. I ordered the beef rib pho and fried oysters. I was satisfied with my meal and the beef rib was tender and flavorful. If ever I arrive in SF late at night on another trip, I won't hesitate to eat at this restaurant again.“
