“So many creative and yummy options! We were lucky and able to get a same day reservation at 5:15 pm on a Friday.

Service is impeccable and it looked like there was more staff than tables when we arrived but over the course of dinner, as the rest filled up, it made more sense.

We loved the custard appetizer. So smooth with great textures and flavors from the potato, fish roe and everything else in the bowl.

The lasagna was very unexpected yet delicious with layers and ground meat.

The pawns had great flavor and we liked the sausages and tomatoes it came with. I also love that the bodies were de-shelled as already.

The cold noodle was very interesting with the foam. It's a very mild flavor so this dish is more about the presentation and textures.

The scallops were fresh but not that interesting. I love Hokkaido scallops but I prefer them raw. This cook was good, just not that interesting.

The spicy hot tofu soup was fine. It didn't feel different or elevated from what I've had at other places and a touch too salty for our tastes.

There's plenty to try on the menu and would have loved to try the kalbi but our bill was quite pricey already.

I highly recommend giving this restaurant a try, it's a great treat and dining experience.“

“Excellent food and it looks just as advertised. We ate brunch here. Loved the sunrise bowl, very berry french toast and the chicken croffle. They even swapped the french toast that was a little hard. Nice ambiance as well. French toast and Sunrise bowl tasted amazing! We will be back for sure!“

“Came in with family and tried mostly vegetarian options. There were plenty to choose from. Veg fried rice was really good and veg Manchurian had perfect Indo Chinese taste that I have had in a long time. We do recommend and would visit again.“

“1st time food was very good along with service. We had the tangy beef soup, generous noodle portion, broth ;deep, rich flavorful. Only minor criticism is that there may be too much lemongrass (?) or aromatic herb for my liking but very minor. We also had the pork belly rice plate, also very delicious good portion and I like that the pork belly was chopped into smaller pieces. Very nice meal. Service was excellent. My major complaint is that they added 18% service charge automatically and it is not stated anywhere. You can tell from review we enjoyed very much and it should be up to customer to decide on gratuity. We may have tipped 20% so they may have hurt themselves. I don’t like this policy and with so many other restaurants to go to, it may be a while before I come back.“

“If you haven’t been here yet - you are doing yourself a disservice: This has been the best Nepali meal my group & I have eaten in the bay.

We tried several dishes:
Peanut Masala starter (which was simple yet delicious - the lil kick of spice was just the required compliment the dish needed, and the chef somehow knew just the right amount)
Both Thali’s: Veg & Chicken (Excellent in quality, quantity & flavour. We ordered a paratha to pair with this and it was thick, perfectly layered, and will remind you of home)
Chicken Wrap, Paneer Curry, steamed & Choilla momo - this latter momo dish was so unique, tangy (chatpata in Hindi) with a lil spice kick - recommend trying this as an app if you’re curious.
We ended with 2 desserts: The Kulfi & Gulab Jamun equivalent, which were also on point. And the best of all + most surprising: the rabri (thickened sweet milk) these desserts came with was THE BOMB, it was so good we asked for it to have its own space on the menu.

We couldn’t choose a favourite but know for sure we’ll be back. Thank you to the very friendly, and sweet staff & owners, who were lovely and truly hospitable.

“This is the best pan-fried soup dumpling I’ve had in the Bay Area. The xiao long bao have thicker skins, and while I personally prefer the thinner ones from Din Tai Fung, these still have plenty of soup and aren’t bad. The dumplings, mushroom pork buns, chicken pan-fried dumplings, and spicy beef hotpot were all solid and tasty, though not particularly outstanding. The scallion bun is packed with scallions, making it a must-try for scallion lovers. Overall, the food was delicious, and I’ll definitely visit again.“

“Great food and friendly service. The tables are unfortunately permanently tacky/sticky which never feels good as you're eating. Our waitress was very nice and cleaned it again to make sure that's all it was. But it would be good to fix that.

I'm glad we sat outside, the music inside was nice but it would be far too loud to have a conversation in there.“

“Earlier this week on Sunday, I was craving some Korean fried Chicken, which I never had before. I did a search on Google and came across Bonchon in San Mateo. The first experience I had, I was not happy with my order because it was not accurate. I ordered an 8 piece, but only received a 4 piece and because it’s through a 3rd party nothing could be done. I decided on Monday I would order this time directly from the restaurant. Everything worked out, and I have to tell you even though my order was not right the first time? This did not take away from the quality of the food. I ordered the drumsticks extra crunch? No sauce, and the first time I ordered with fried rice, both were excellent. The seasoning, it was rich with flavor, and I have absolutely no complaints. The second time on Monday I ordered the same chicken a 4 piece, the corn with the mayonnaise, cheese and red pepper flakes, with a side of steamed rice. Everything was just perfect. I’m not kidding you it’s taking everything in me to control myself from ordering more today, and it’s just Tuesday. It’s just that good! Whoever the chefs are, you can taste the love in their cooking, it’s not just thrown together. There is Love in their food, and know this because my Mom’s food is just the same. Every bite is good. I don’t say these things lightly when it comes to restaurants. There’s not too many that impress me like this. All I can say is keep the love in your food, and don’t change the quality even if you have a million customers, don’t change your food. 5/5 for me, it’s a must try if you love fried chicken or Korean food. I don’t have pictures this time, maybe next time if I can upload I will. The chicken is so crunchy that even when it’s cold it’s still good and crunchy and not soggy. “This is definitely a hidden gem in a small strip of San Carlos. My bestie took me here for a birthday dinner, so it was as my first time. The sushi is so fresh and everything we ate tasted delicious, melt in your mouth!!! The staff was fun and had great energy! My only caveat is they were not pacing the dishes and it felt a bit overwhelming. Especially since we were the only ones I. There for the longest time. We loved the attention, but yeah, the attention to timing needed to be present. I would recommend this spot to anyone though. It’s definitely cute for a date night of any kind, but also remember you are in San Carlos and not the city, and this is not in the downtown part.“

We were recommended some really nice skewers- beef tongue, wagyu, chicken skin and cartilage, and shrimp dumplings, along with udon noodles. The quality of ingredients, the cook on everything was great and tasted so good we went back again. Any restaurant with great hospitality gets full marks from me. Asian hospitality at its best here. “Disclaimer, I'm not a milk tea snob. I love trying out the variety of drinks that Quickly provides, as well as the variety of snacks and meals. I only get to visit this one when I'm visiting a friend, cuz the ones around my neighborhood unfortunately got closed down due to bad people. No other milk tea cafe I know of is a one stop shop like Quickly is in my opinion (e.g. has milk tea, flavored milks, bubble waffles of more than two flavors, popcorn chicken, etc), and I don't think any of it is poor quality imo as long as you've set your expectations correctly (like it's not a tea house).“

“Great food. My favorite is their wagyu garlic fried rice ($27). The rice is well seasoned and their steak is tender. Overall a very savory and delicious dish.

Note: The dishes are pricey and their portions are small. But each dish is quality.

Their service can be slow. We’ve gone a few times and although we get seated and order quickly, the food can take a bit to arrive.

The restaurant feels like a cozy Japanese restaurant and they also have outdoor seating.

Overall they’re definitely on the pricier side and have small portions but each is dish is well made. It’s nice to have a quality Japanese restaurant in Redwood City“

Our bill was $60 for two without tip or any alcohol.“
