“3 of us came here for dinner earlier this week. My husband found the restaurant on Yelp! and it turns out to be one of our friend's favourite restaurants in the area.
We ordered the following dishes:
- Gal Bi Jim - My husband would not stop talking about it. The sauce was rich and flavourful and the short ribs just melted in your mouth.
- Dolpan Bibimbap - The rice was perfect;y cooked with a slightly crispy bottom. The portions of rice, meat and vegetables were very well balanced.
- Han Sang Guk Bap - The best part of the noodle soup was the broth. It was so tasty. I had every last drop of it with my side purple rice.
- Yuk Hwe - I'm usually impartial to beef tartare but it was better than some of the beef tartares I had in Paris!“

“Great service, super generous servings, and delicious! We ate here for mother's Day and I think we may have ordered too much as we were not expecting the large servings, which is totally not a bad thing! I think the HK noodles were my favorite and I'd say the salt and pepper shrimps were my least. It's lacking a bit of saltiness or umami compared to other places. Overall, I will come back but probably order less. 😅“

“I visited this Korean restaurant almost every week and thoroughly enjoyed each visit! The food is absolutely delicious and very affordable, making it a perfect spot for a quick meal or a casual dinner out. The flavors are authentic and satisfying— I definitely recommend trying the Bulgugi and the side dishes!
The restaurant may not be overly fancy, but it is clean and comfortable. The staff impressed me; they are incredibly kind and welcoming. Be sure to show them the same kindness in return; they truly deserve it!
Overall, it was a great experience with tasty food, fair prices, and a warm atmosphere.“

“Came here for a quick stop after being picked up by my boyfriend from the airport!
Good:
- The banchan had a lot of variety
- The portion size was huge for my tkebboki dish!
- Hearty tofu stew and good amount of ingredients inside
- Nice vibe for a casual catchup and overall pretty typical service - nice staff
Bad:
- Casual diner, nothing too fancy!
Overall enjoyed my experience here but might not come again as it didn't blow my mind.“

“A hidden gem. Really, really nice food, served fresh and piping hot. The veggies are nice and crisp, unlike so many places that serve soggy veggies. I love that the food isn't bathed in salt. The beef is tender and tastes like beef, not just salt and soy sauce. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. On top of that, the prices are shockingly low, especially considering the quality and size of the dishes. My new fave.“

“Of course we had to order the Kalbijjim (갈비찜), considering that it was our first time here. The wait wasn't too long, being no longer than 30 minutes for such a large/sharable portion (see images). It was enough food for us not to be able to finish in one sitting, again, a very generous portion. The beef, rice, and sides, everything was absolutely delicious.
I'm not too familiar with pricing when it comes to Korean cuisine, but this was priced at $82 (regular size), apparently there's a larger size...
The food court was very lively, which was enjoyable to eat in. A bit of a loud environment, but not too loud to a point where we were yelling to hear each other.“

“As a Korean who grew up eating jjajangmyeon every week, this place is most authentic if you are craving jjajangmyoen or jjampong. Jjajangmyeon was not overly sweet, did taste just like the ones in Korea .
We also tried sweet and sour chicken ( 양념 통닭) and it was so amazing !!
I highly highly recommend this place for authentic Korean foods and if you want to bring back the nostalgic memories ..“

“Food came out hot. Tea came out lukewarm. Excellent customer service. Dishes are clean. Clean bathroom. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night at 8pm and place was empty. Music is loud. Was seated quickly. 20 years ago, this restaurant used to be so crowded that the wait time was at least 45 mins.“

“Delicious food, great atmosphere, great service! I've tried the Premium Ox bone noodle soup, bibimbap, jjajangmyeon, kimbap, and tteokbokki, and all are absolutely delicious! In fact, the tteokbokki is some of the best I've tried. I live out of town, but I will go back here every time I visit here.“

“Wanted to try a new Korean restaurant. This was definitely a hidden jem. We got here around 6:30pm on Saturday, May 31, 2025. There was no waiting and seated us right away. The restaurant seating is spacious with plenty of chair space and legroom. They cook everything for you. It was cooked to perfection. The Kalbi was tender with the perfect seasoning. Their Bonchon is some of the best we have ever tasted. Especially, their Kimchi. We have tried many different brands of Kimchi from Korean supermarkets. This has become our favorite Korean restaurant now.“
“Among the food court options at Hmart, I can only recommend two places: Daeho Galbijjim and Hong Kong Banjum. I’ve tried food from the other spots, but I wouldn’t recommend them. Especially Jung Bunsik—maybe it’s best to stay away from there!
Jajangmyeon and Jjamppong are truly the soul food of Koreans, aren’t they? I love both, but in San Francisco, it’s hard to find places that do them well consistently. The taste often varies too much. That’s why Hong Kong Banjum, with its reliably consistent flavor, is my top pick.
I recommend their Jjamppong, Tangsuyuk, and Jjajangbap!“

“No wait to be seated upon opening on a Friday night, ordered right away with no expectations. Star of the show: KFC. Wow!!
My new favorite Korean fried chicken in the Bay Area, the spicy glaze was incredible and really reminded me of Korea. Definitely coming back more often for those!! Really enjoyed the Ttoekboki as well, very flavorful and lovely spiciness level. Will try the Bulgogi fries next!“

“So I was lucky enough to give this place a try during a closed event hosted by the Seoul sisters and the Hoo Lee Gans. Pretty cool vibe and atmosphere when you walk in. Extensive drink list and pretty skilled bartenders tend to your thirsty soul while the home cooked Korean style street food dishes caress your belly. As it was a closed event , the food was a buffet style, help yourself and gubble it up style. Regardless the food was spot on. I really enjoyed the onion pancake. This dish is as simple as it looks it is actually rather tricky to make. The popcorn chicken was tender, the kimchi zesty yet firm and tender.
I suggest you give it a try and work yourself through their menu.“

“Entrance is through Kukje, which explains how this restaurant can have the biggest menu, fresh ingredients, and just about everything available in takeout packaging. This is a must try, especially if you plan on eating before shopping. I have many memories of reluctantly spending time at Korean grocery stores growing up. Now as a parent, I look forward to sharing this nostalgia with my kids!“

“I have been a many times, usually when I am craving for some Korean food or just want something easy. It is located at the right side when you enter the supermarket, most of the times there is not a wait. Their menu consists of appetizers, authentic Korean dishes, specialty wings, soups, beverages, etc. I have never encountered an issue here thanks to their welcoming, well trained and understanding staffs. Everything is pretty much made to order which is always a plus for me and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a Korean spot, if you want to try something new or if you want a laid back spot to dine at. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.“

“Dae Jang Geum Tofu House is a great spot for Korean food. The food is always delicious and the service is great - attentive but not over-the-top. There are parking spots out front but also street parking and the Westlake parking lot nearby.“

“Really family friendly place with high quality Korean noodles. Reminds me of Korea and oddly Southern California, where Korean food presence is strong. SO glad to be seeing more high quality foods in the Bay area, and in the Peninsula where there is an absolute paucity of selection. Service was only ok, but it was clear that they were understaffed during their opening months. Will be back!“
“My niece took me here yesterday. What a nice surprise. Great variety of Korean goodies. I loved every aisle. We spent at least 2 1/2 hrs aside from all the goodies you can try in the food court area. I was looking or specific items i could not find anywhere so of course I scooped a few of each. Loved the choices of veggies, meats both marinated and regular. Since I make food only for a few, it is nice to be able to portion the amounts I need.
After shopping, we stopped to have honey chicken. The nice thing was you can get them bone in or boneless. Also able to try the Korean hot dog. Both were so yummy and not super spicy.
Thank you!“

“The charcoal grills are a new experience for me. It was awesome! Food was delicious! Service was great! My only complaint would be for the ventilation to be better/stronger. I know to expect to smell like KBBQ after, but I think ventilation can be improved.“
“great korean bbq plates. I usually get the beef bulgogi or the spicy pork.“

“Loved this place, such kind staff, brought our food out to the table for us! Went just before close and got the soy garlic, hot, and sweet boneless and sides which were all fantastic. I was attracted by the fair prices for the sides too. Will return for more for sure.“

“This spot is bringing a unique dining experience to the Bay Area! The food truck specializes in Korean food that's made by robots.
Currently, the food truck only operates in Foster City for delivery or pickup. When you order through their app, the robots will start making the meal about 6 to 8 minutes before it's ready to be delivered. This means your food is always hot and fresh! The portion sizes can easily feed two people. The best part is there are no service fees or delivery charges! The flavors of each dish were so good! The wagyu was my favorite ?. Each dish is served with rice, banchan and seaweed.
They're opening a brick and mortar restaurant later this year in San Mateo, so be sure to check that out as well.“

“Just delicious. I ordered an ube soft serve with an Ah Boong (fish waffle) on the side. The Ah Boong is warm and fresh, simultaneously soft and crispy, and the ice cream is flavorful and the perfect amount. I inhaled the entire thing within 5 minutes, it was just that good. The ube soft serve is not the best I've had, but it's still good, and that's probably because of my personal tastes. I think it is worth the price. The location is convenient too, right in Downtown San Mateo! Overall, I will come again. 4/5.“
“I work all over the Bay and drove pass this place looking for a quick breakfast and saw that they had Gal Bi Tang (Korean Beef Rib soup).Being that it’s so cold it’s sucked me in to ordering it. They also have the Standard American Breakfast and Lunch menu. Place definitely needs an update but why when you have kind old ladies working the place. You’ll leave with a nice Smokey scent due to the lack of ventilation lol. Food came out with the third Auntie I saw holding a great smile so you know it’s going to be good ?. And it was so it made me look them up and write a review.“

“This place right here has the best sushi rolls for the best price!! They hook it up fat! They are always friendly I'm willing to do whatever you ask to you're liking to accommodate your sushi experience! At this spot I always get the most sushi rolls for what my money is worth!! You can order ahead of time so you can come by in and pick up your food when ready! Great thing also about this place there was a time when I lagged to pick up my order and I was still treated with the upmost respect I'm kind customer service as I would if I picked up on time!! Must try to teriyaki chicken is super good 🤩💯“

“Classic Diner / Cafeteria old school feel. New owners are very nice and engaging with the customers. Complete opposite of the old owners who were indeed grumpy and three times in a row got my orders wrong so I had stopped going there. Plus all the food had a similar flavor that was off-putting. The noodle soups have always been pretty good, but that one time the old owner gave Beef Udon instead of the Veggie I ordered was the last straw. (The beef was awful) Speaking with the new owner I can tell that they want to elevate the food and are indeed doing so. I'm back to being a regular.
Some recent favorites:
BLT - Nice crispy thin bacon. Mmm.. (they laugh when I ask for it on white but I'm traditional)
French Fries - The've been really good recently.
Steak & Arugula salad was killer! (it was a Daily Special)
Pesto Chicken sandwich was excellent.“

“Don't know what to eat, but want a quick and delicious meal?Paik's Noodle is such a solid option. Food is good. Portions are generous. My favorite would have to be their classic Jajangmyeon/Black Bean Noodle. The noodles are nice and QQ. The sauce is well seasoned and flavorful. It has a unique flavor from the fried black bean paste. Generous sauce portion too. I always have leftovers and add it on a bed of hot rice the next day. Love that they give you a side of pickled radish as a palate cleanser. Their jjampong and tangsuyuk is pretty good too.Staff are nice. Food comes out pretty quickly. Only thing to keep in mind is that the food court can get really busy during peak times making it hard to find a seat. Overall, 4/5.“

“Came here for some Soon Tofu Soup & KBBQ Ssam box! We don’t come here often (to HMART’s food court) as it’s pretty pricey imo so I normally just get something I know I’ll like haha My soup was filled with seafood which was so delicious! I actually didn’t know it was gonna be a seafood tofu soup .“
“Part of a ghost kitchen that serves takeout food from various restaurants, no dine-in seating. I recommend ordering online and then picking it up over ordering in store, especially as parking is a little rough. Also recommend requesting utensils and napkins if you think you'll need them, since mine didn't come with any.
I've never been to other Vons chicken locations but the food that I got here was really delicious and also cheaper than the redwood city Vons chicken.
I got the lunch combo with 6 PC boneless chicken and it was the perfect amount of food for a meal.
Took about 30 min for order to be ready for pickup.“

“Came in for a meal at 8:10 pm. Staff made us feel welcome even though we got there close pretty late for dinner. Tried their wings for appetizer. Chicken was cooked perfectly and extremely juicy. We tried the Bulgogi beef and seafood rice pots. Both tasted excellent.“
